There's a topic about smells we like. Well, what about sounds we like? Everyone has things they like to hear, that calm them down. I'm curious. We all have pretty interesting favorite scents so what is pleaseing to our ears?
---
One of my favorite sounds ever is the sound of crickets chirping at night. It's so soothing especially when there's no road noise (living near a big city involves a lot of that). It's quite relaxing and clams me down pretty easily.
I also love the sound of small waves lapping on the shore of a lake. it's another soothing sound I like.

I hate the sound of anything scratching anything.
XD
Even a pencil running across a piece of wood.
It makes my ears cry.

dunno what i love though. xD
It makes me laugh when I hear my cat. It sounds like he's saying "mum"

Bells! I love the sound of bells. And acoustic guitar. And solo piano. And choral arrangements.
*is clearly not a music nerd*
What else...I love listening to the sound of utter chaos that occurs during holiday parties at my house. It makes me sleepy, of all things.
Flocks of starlings sound ridiculously pretty. I have two giant old maple trees outside my window, so the sound of birds and leaves are soothing. And wind chimes, they remind me of my mom. Mourning doves, cicadas, the ocean, naturally...that's all I can think of at the moment.
Seanu: Our family cat Simon has a cry that sounds oddly like "Hello?" He'll wander around going Hewwoo? Hewwooo? until someone pays attention to him.

I love the sound of my hamsters running on their wheel, the sound of wind rustling leaves outside my window, the sound of thunder, the sound of rain hitting the skylight windows, the crackling of fire, the sound of a fishtank filter, and the sound of the fan on the floor of my room. ^^

Storms. I love storms, and everything about them. The sound of rain pounding, in droves against the house, teh roof, the desk, the ground is the most pleasing sound I can think of. THis is followed by thunder. Loud and cracking, low and rolling, booms, snaps, crack, slaps, and any other sound thunder can make.
I enjoy music, a lot. If I'm worked up and I need to relaxe I turn on my music. It doens't matter what I listen to. Heavy meatle rock, big band swing, classical, whatever. Mucis is my world, and listening to it in any form chills me out.
I agree H.U. about crickets chirping. I read your main question and that was my first thought because there's actually one chirping right now...at 2 am, lol... I do enjoy that sound.
Another fave of mine is the sound my dog Herc makes...he acts like a cat and he has this moan that kina sounds liek a growl unless you know him....then you know he's actually purring. He sleeps on my bed with me, and when he snuggles you he purrs, and its really relaxing.

I love falling asleep listening to the rain, which is a bonus at the moment because it is wet all the time here.
I hate the howl of female foxes. It sounds like a woman being stabbed.

My cat's going deaf. So he yowls amazingly loudly. xD Even when he's inside the house. If he's hungry, he sits at the bottom of the starts and just yells. Sometimes it sounds like he's saying hello, as well. We took him to the vet once and when we opened the door and he saw where we were, we swear that he said "Oh no" XD

sam <3.
I love the sound of rain, especially at night. Thunder, too and the sound my fish makes when he's swimming around and comes up for air.
Music, of course. The wind rustling the leaves. The sound of a river/the sea is relaxing too.

I just like sound.
I lost the hearing in my left ear when I was seven so I've been running on half capacity most of my life. Just about any sound is good to me; even things that are annoying to others. Hearing anything makes me feel good because it reminds me that I can still hear at least a bit.
I tap a lot. People get annoyed but I do it unconsciously. Have since I was a kid. The tapping goes along with that. If things are too quiet, I tap.
I just don't like quiet.
