So far what I've got on him is that he's a yakuza kiddie. He's cute and squishy and looks like he's 17, but he's actually 21. And he will knife you! D: But he's a good kid, honest. He just doesn't have any morals.

Anyways, I need a place to roleplay him, maybe some other characters if I like it.

I'm looking for some sort of human or humanoid rpg. No Twilight, no band camp. Plz.

The good list (yay!)

• ACTIVE. The site must be active. Please. 'd like to see a lot of stuff going on, people posting. Member count preferably over 30 since I haven't seen many active sites under that, but hey, I'm flexible. :D
• ORIGINAL. This means an original plot, idea, theme, skin, please. I'd like to be able to READ the stuff, so tiny fonts are a major turn off. Dark text on dark backgrounds, low contrast, and bad skins are a super hardcore turnoff as well.
• No stupid naming conventions. I am not writing my characters name in lowercase (since it defies all I ever learned in school... and you can just specify it using CSS) nor anything that requires a middle name.
• doHTML. I like my HTML. You don't need to disable it, do you? ;; <3 (Not mandatory... but a definite plus)
• I'm going to look for something semi-realistic. Can be completely realistic, or semi-realistic with a touch of fantasy, or a ton of fantasy. I'm good with all that. I'd prefer if it were set in current-era or future-era, and that it's on Earth. A lot of the stuff for my character involves existing places, and I wouldn't be able to make things up without feeling weird. XD

We have no post minimums, no maximums, we're super-active (over 200 posts a day), I believe our app's pretty short, and we have some pretty fun chars to play with. Come and see if we interest you. We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . Seeing as we have a lack of main plot line, here's a bit about our current political situation:

The former King was lately found to have died of natural causes at the age of 35. Predicted cause of death was heart failure. Unknown to most, the result of his kingship's death was from a large quantity of Foxglove in his soup, which in small doses is classed as a drug used to aid those with weak hearts, yet large doses can prove fatal.

Following the death of the King, his child Alexander the III has taken up the role of monarch at the young age of 7 years old. Due to his age and inexperience, the Church has offered their services in helping run the Kingdom temporally until his 16th birthday when he can take his rightful position in the political world, seeing as his knowledge of the political world and faith will be up to acceptable standards.

Unknown to the public, the Church has lead the continent for the past 100 years by pulling such stunts similar to this one:

Monarchs have been used as political puppets, to be used when useful and discarded when posing a threat, much like the former king Alfred the IV. His Rule was cut shot due to a few outcries on his half against the Churches current place in the political world, (unaware, every decision he ever took as King was moulded by the Churches very hands). This lead to a momentary laps in the peoples respect for the Church. The Puppets strings were quickly cut away, opening a position for a new monarch, a new face for the church to hide there scheming behind.

We would be more than happy for you to join a baddy character on Closer, though we don't have a yakuza in the strictest sense of the word, seeing as they're not Japanese (Korean), and not connected to the yakuza, but the organization is much the same.

We're just starting out (today actually), so the member count isn't quite up to what you requested, but despite being so new, we do have quite a few players already, and we're hoping that activity will pick up fast. =D

I don't know how you would define a 'short' application, but ours asks for the general stuff: appearance, personality, history, a few lists (likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses) and a sample post. We do have a minimum requirement for each section, but I believe it's not hard for anyone to reach it.

The plot is inspired by the movies Sin City and Closer, but the story line is nothing like either one, so I suppose I'd call us original. As far as legibility goes, I can read everything just fine, and as the creator of the skin, I like to think it's not sucky. But I might be biased. ;)

No stupid naming convention: simple and straight forward: first name, last name, both capitalized.

To be honest, I have no idea if doHTML is disabled or not. If it's disabled by default, it's disabled. If it's not, it's not.

Thanks for the replies, but there aren't any that really stuck out. ^^; Closer might be a possibility, but it has a long application, few others things, so no.

A short application is pretty much:

- Name, gender
- Information required to title the joiner
- A sample rp post so you know the joiner can roleplay (or a sample profile of a character so you know I can actually write profiles? Idk XD )

And that's it. That is good.

I am starting out with a new character, and I cannot write out a detailed history until a few months or roleplaying him. P: This thread expresses my sentiments pretty well. :3

Chasing the Storm is an amazing site. The application isn't too long, the members are super friendly, and its active. xD There is a bunch of people to plot and roleplay with. It's original, and fun- I'm a member.

Well, I would think Carpe Diem meets everything you're looking for. We're small, I'll admit, but we are very active. For your character, I'd love to see a human (: And any of the races we offer are humanoid, so yeah. OUR APPLICATION IS SHORT. I hate long applications. It's simple and to the point. And we have doHTML - honestly I couldn't live without it. And I'm really not picky about names- personally for my OCD I like 'em capitalized correctly but eh, we have a couple of full caps and such. If your site is smaller, say 40 members, if you have a good ooc community, that's alright as well. (:

The application system for this is quite unique. For starters, you PM a short application to the Admin to get accepted onto the board. Just a small tidbit about your character, to let her know you put some thought into it, and a writing sample. Once you get accepted with that, all you have to do is put up a character profile. Detailed history isn't really required, just look at some of the already made profiles to see what we might be looking for. ;D

Hi there! If it's an original human RP you're looking for, perhaps you should check out Fairytale Nightmares. We're only a small site, having just reached the week-old mark, but so far the reaction to the site is good and we're building - slowly but surely - an active, original character and member base. The admin is active, friendly and helpful, and she answers any and all questions put to her to the best of her ability. She's a member, not some holier-than-thou elitist with a sense of self-righteousness. The app for Fairytale Nightmares is a little long, but that's purely to avoid the issue of Mary-Sues. If you can't fill it all in, that's fine - just tell the admin what you've got so far and I'm sure you could come to some agreement. (:
