Hello everyone!

I am new around here, but I've been in forum roleplaying for awhile now. Currently, I am active in a couple of different places, but I've always been interested in starting my own forum. I've got some ideas here, and I just wanted some opinions, and some interest if possible.

1. A superhero styled roleplay. This would be a very dark setting, along the lines of the new Batman franchise and the Watchmen graphic novel. The admins would serve as the villains, especially at the beginning, and it would be admin created canons only. I would make the heroes available in the City of Heroes character creator, and then we would choose an appropriate real life actor to portray the secret identity. The roleplays would focus on developing the superheroes, and subplots would all revolve around the villains.

As of now, I had these ideas for the actual setting for this. First, it would be a dystopian setting created by us. Secondly, it would be set during the Cold War, thirdly, it would be Timeline 191, an alternate history. I was thinking that the villains would focus on gathering items of mystical power (think Shroud of Turin, Spear of Destiny ect). I also thought of doing like a World War II superhero theme where there are some Axis flavored ones battling the Allies for a more supernatural war.

As for the board here, I was thinking it would be spread out like a newspaper, 50s flavor. Or it could be like an actual comic book, and it would be as if the members were participating in its ongoing story.

2. My second idea would revolve around a group of football players who were trying to be recruited into Division I. It would serve as being really cutthroat, and canons would be the players, managers and coaches, family members, girlfriends and others. Obviously there would be a sense of relationships and partying, but there would be also games and a real emphasis on the game. It would be Friday Night Lights (the show) with a lot more of actual game playing. I'm not sure if they would be on the same team or somthing, but maybe they could all be the stars from one. So something like Friday Night Lights but with original canons and a different story.

3. A roleplay set during the Age of Exploration. It would center on wealthy European nobles who decide that they want to join all the colonizing in the New World. Players could assume the roles as sailors, missionaries, explorers, and would all end up the new golden paradise. It would also have a hint of mythology, and would include board-wide roleplays around the Fountain of Life, Cebolla, and other Native American legends. Players could also be people already in the Americas. The sky is the limit!

4. A military styled roleplay that would either profile a group of soldiers in World War II or Vietnam. It would be like Band of Brothers but would also explore their past, their relationships back home, and other experiences.

I wanted to know what people thought of these, and if anyone might think of joining them. In addition, are these at all original? If not, can someone point me towards some of these?

Well, I don't know what 'Timeline 191' means, but that first one sounds interesting to me. I'm available for brainstorming assistance, if you like.

Timeline 191 is an alternate American history where the South was successful in its succession. It then plays out as America being two seperate entities, recounting both the First and Second World Wars. It's an interesting concept, and Wikipedia has an excellent chronicle of it.

The first idea does sound good by I suggest not limiting the players to heroes only. Some of us like being evil :)

I particularly like the first Idea. I have been a member of super hero sites before and they are usually kinda generic, this is sounds interesting an unusual though. I also like the Idea of admins being evil, kinda magnifies some members feelings on admin :p. So it would be progression in over time? Or through different "Canons"? I will definitely pay attention to that site should you open it.

Thank you everyone for the interest. I was wondering if people might want to help me develop the plot for this. I'm going to start drafting some characters, but I kind of wanted to have an overall plot here before that. Does anyone have any ideas?

Personally, I like something along the lines of a dystopian world. The heroes would have been made by the government for the protection of world. Then something would happen where they weren't need anymore because of guns and weaponry, and they were cast aside. Therefore, the heroes would be more washed up and rejected by everyone, who sees them more as yesterday's fad. Eventually they would be hunted down by the government, who has their own new supervillains.

Something like that? Oh and then the government would be fighting for supernatural objects to improve their own soldiers.

It's rough. Feel free to give your own ideas to make this more than just the average superhero forum.
