I -think- this is okay to go here, please correct me if I'm wrong.
So I want to start up a new RP forum, but I don't want to make it until I have a basic plot, and a name.

But I struggle with plots, and I suck at naming them.
So, do you have any advice, that can help me with creating original plots and names?
I know there is a section to find people to help you out with the site, but I'm aware that you need to post a link :sweat:

When I created my site I threw some ideas around with some of my other online RP friends and we managed to hash out the details. I then added a lot of various bits and pieces myself, looking at different culture and adapting it. Mine is based on medieval/fantasy and I am fairly well versed in medieval history (It is a geeky hobby of mine) so I could include a lot of detail about that.

I would suggest you stick with something you know a lot about or have a good interest in, not to mention it will make playing there more interesting for you in the long run.

If you want someone to kick ideas around with I am happy to help out. I am on MSN most of the time. (Ok, that sounds bad, I mean, I am online a fair bit but I do go out and stuff!)

Ugh. Writing the plot is probably my least favorite aspect of starting up a fourm; I have, of yet, not been able to master it, however I can give you some advice on the writing of it.

Make sure that, whatever plot you choose, it's broad enough to include any member who might be interested - canon or non-canon - and to have effects on the board as a whole. "Bob loves Sue, but Sue loves Tony" only really involves three characters - though a case could be made for it including their friends as well - and wouldn't have an effect on the actual forum, however "Sue's love for Tony is put on hold by a war that rages the land" shouldn't really be written as such because it suggests that only those characters are important, however as an idea allows for much inclusion and clearly affects everyone.

An ideal plot, in my mind, would also leave room for those who don't wish to be involved. While yes, they should still be affected by certain events - such as war - if they don't want to be directly involved in political intrigue or an organization plotting to take over the known universe or what have you, they should be able to simply exist in your world.

As far as plots go, do you already have the genre and a basic idea of what you want? If you do, just start writing and then weed out what sounds aweful. :lol: Remember that you can always ask us in the writing section what we think of your plot if you need some extra help.

Haha, I'm having fun on Seventh Sanctum, not really getting anywhere though :\
But it is making me want to make a Fantasy RP, but I was more interested in sticking with a Highschool/Town RP.

When I'm trying to think of a forum name, or something, I go to google and search for band name genorators. They have random things that sometimes you can use for your forum that actually works.

As for the plot, I think really, the only person who can do that is you. You might want to look at other forums for ideas, but you want something original, not something common.

I go on bandnamemaker.com alot, but I find alot of the ones that come up there are giggle worthy. Like Dejected Conduct Of The Eloquent Fold.

Maybe I could bounce ideas back of you guys, and the name will help me of a plot then. It's going to be a Highschool/Town RP, and I don't want it to be named after the Town or the School, like most, I want it to be unique, somewhat alluring, yanno?

EDIT: And bam! I have a plot idea, well, I have a vague plot idea ^_^
If that counts anyway, buts it's kinda crappy o.O Cause I want a town/highschool RP, what if I based it in a towan, that was once, a really lovely place, that people actually want to live in, but somthing happened to the town, or some people came to the town, and now its not as nice as it once used to be?
