Well, life is short. Perhaps it is pretty morbid if you read too much into it, but we all do eventually die, and so we should try to enjoy life before it's too late to enjoy much of anything anymore.
And really, 'things to do whilst we're living' is pretty redundant, since we won't be doing anything once we're dead. Though I guess the 'before you die' thing is redundant in the same way.
