Title: Admins Give Me The Irks
Description: Well, this particular admin...
Sniks - August 16, 2008 05:48 PM (GMT)
Alright, so i'm a member of an advertising site, and TRYING to stay positive, because I don't want to loose it as a way to plug my sites, but honestly i'm about at the end of my rope.
They just rub me the wrong way. Which I can live with.. but then stuff has happened which I cant.
One- I posted a rant about my dad, and titled it "fathers=death"
To which one of the admins replied "at least you have a father"
Which is rather twinky if you ask me. Just because you have a father/mother/boyfriend/best friend doesn't mean that person is any good in your life. I mean, i would not say to a girl who's boyfriend hits her "at least you have a boyfriend" so I tell him this. Then go away to do other things.
When I come back my topic has been "moved to moderation".... of course i am annoyed and confused so I PM the admin and the defense was at first that my title was offensive, then that it "almost started a riot" THEN that they moved it so i would not get upset by the responses posted... I got a big long explanation how he himself cant live near his father and it "hurts him every day" and another admins father is dead and blah blah... It's like, rant boards are GOING to upset someone. Not everyone is going to agree with every rant...
the thing that is the kicker though? It's STILL THERE... the so called offensive title is sitting there, offending.. and the message inside about "moved to moderation" is there for all to see. So it looks like I did something wrong- which I didn't...
THEN, they have a "forum of the month" comp yeah? anyway in the board description it mentions a form, which i cant for the life of me find, so I post a board asking where the form is...
they reply with:
forms been gone for over a month, you give us all the information you think we need to know
then lock the thread so i cant reply. No "Opps we made a mistake and didn't change the board desc" or anything.
So I make ANOTHER THREAD
"Well considering the board description said something about a form up until i'm guessing you saw my thread and changed it, you can only imagine why i asked... "
and get an EVEN MORE ANNOYING REPLY
"this really should have been taken up in pm. but since you've made it public, then so will i.
everyone makes a mistake now and then. even tall man. no, they don't happen very often from him, but when it does, you don't have to nail him on it.
frankly, i'm tired of your attitude. i don't know why you've decided to become so negative, but it needs to stop, and it will.
this post will stay here for as long as i need it to, and then it will be moved. just like the other one.
people come here for the positive experience, and you have failed that subject. "
When did I 'Nail him on it'?? I ASKED A BLOODY HONEST QUESTION
Tired of my attitude? I don't even SEE any attitude in anything i've said to them!
I'M SO ANNOYED I WANT TO SLAP THEM SILLY

Well, after seeing 'tall man' I know EXACTLY what site you're speaking of. The people that run that site just about irks everyone, including myself.
I can understand why you're so upset, and it seems as if they don't give a dang which unfortunately, is how things are ran there. Hopefully, you can settle this issue with them, I'm sorry they're being mean to you.
EDIT: I'll tell you about my experience in PM if you want.
Roswenth - August 16, 2008 06:29 PM (GMT)
I'm not exactly sure which advertising forum you are talking about, but I bet I could guess based on previous experience and be pretty close.
The short answer: They're total idiots and for the life of me I can't figure out why people use them. Misspelled forum names, preferential treatment, bad attitudes, and just sheer stupidity! They also depend heavily on their inflated post count to make them 'better' but nearly half their posts are in the games forum.
That's a pet peeve of mine about advertising forums - post count=uberness. It doesn't matter if all the posts are crap, just that you've posted too many #$%# meaningless times.

Oh, dear. I know exactly what you're talking about. I was actually a part of that community for a short time. I'll tell you all about my experience if you PM me.
But to be on topic, it's best to just avoid places that don't treat their members well. Why that particular site has a member base left after all of their mistreatment of people is a wonder to me. I guess it's like you said, that everyone puts up with it because of the benefits it has on their own sites.

Oh man. I completely didn't realise "tall man" would give it away
opps?
I'm just glad I'm not the only one who has had issues with them...

Never heard of the site, but I know I'd probably skin the admins before quitting if I were a member.
I've gotten so sick of admin's attitudes lately that seeing who's in charge of the site is even more important than the plot! You can read about my admin experiences...I have two rants about them, lol.

Ohhhhh THAT site.
Yeah I was on the too. Maybe we should make a club about the experiences on that particular site?
Teh Administration is bonkers on the site. That's for sure.
Lady Hikari - August 17, 2008 06:37 AM (GMT)
And now I am curious to the site....
D: THANKS!

Iiinteresting. I was once on an advertising site or two, so I'm curious which one you're talking about. Sniks, will you PM me the name, please? erm . . . if that's allowed.
{SHEILA KTHXBI. - August 17, 2008 10:56 AM (GMT)
I'm really curious about the site, too. Could you add me to your crazy-long list of people to PM the name to if it's allowed? -puppy dog eyes-
Anyway, that's unbelievably crap. It sounds to me as though this 'tall man' (funny name) needs to powertrip on the internet, possibly to make up for RL inadequacies and definitely to feel in charge. Also, the grammar irks me. 'no, they don't happen very often from him, but when it does, you don't have to nail him on it.' Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it plural? Is it singular? Who knows? Who cares?! He's Tall Man, and he can rampantly abuse the English language! ....Er, sorry, that rant has nothing to do with your rant, but I have issues. Serious, serious issues, that make me pathologically protective over grammar, particularly when the general phrasing of his message implies that he considers himself to be pretty close to perfect.
(Also, how can mistakes happen from someone? That's the last nit that I'll pick! I swear!)

That made me laugh. XD
It's so true though, he types SO BADLY.. Others who know the site will agree. I doesn't use the letter 'g' at the end of words and it's like, what? ARE YOU RETARDED? Or just have a "I have a Cockney accent" complex? (Which mind you, i'm certain he lives in the U.S..)

From what I heard, he lives in England, but I could be wrong.

Me too xD
Gosh, I think this thread has the highest amount of curious people I've ever seen xD
These people do sound kind of.. um.. power hungry? Not exactly the best of admins to have in charge of a board. :/

urgh great now I'm joining the long line of curious people! Thanks a lot. I must be craving for something to mock at...

Haha, arn't we all^_^
If anyone wants to know just PM me I guess.
erikalynn - August 18, 2008 04:58 AM (GMT)
i would also like to know as i like all others who read this topic seem to be curious.
it's hearing things like this that make me not want to be an admin(i am on my rp site) i cant help but wonder if i too will one day become a paranoid, power hungry egomaniac who cannot spell.
and that though scares me.
honestly though i cannot believe anyone would treat a person like that, especially an admin.
the members are what make a site great not the admins. yea they help but it's not like they could make all the posts and keep the site active and everything.
i will never understand admins who treat their members poorly i really won't.
i have my fair share of admin issues and so i think i shall go make a thread of my own to join the ever growing hateadmins! pile
i hope things work out on the site but from my POV i say just dump the site and try to find a new one.
