Title: Need A Name Asap!
Description: For a guy.

Squirrelsy - August 13, 2008 05:56 AM (GMT)
Okay. So, this is the first time I haven't been able to think of a name for a guy character in like.. ever. I'm stumped, as the name needs to be a little out there- sorta fantasy but still modern. If it helps, I'm using Ryan Reynolds as the playby and he's going to be a dragon.

Toss 'em up! And quickly! I can't do the bio without having a name.

For my name suggestions, I do what I normally do and check my spam e-mail! Why? Because some of the most interesting names come from spam e-mail senders, I've named about three of my characters this way and it's actually quite fun . .. So let's see what we have. . .

Terrian Urso
Ezzine Chima

And no more spam e-mail, sorry if it doesn't help much! ^^

Gliav?

Or, for human names, maybe Dorian, Damien, Gideon?

Those are the names of my charies, anyway.

Terrian close to Terran so yeah. Ezzine.. Not really fond of E-names.

Gliav.. Hmn.. Possibly maybe.

Dorian and Gideeon are so-so and I had thought about Damien but it just seems too cliche for Ryan Reynolds. Like you know he'd be named that. I unno..

I had a character named Damien. Actually, I still have the character, just renamed. I think of The Omen movies when I hear the name, and the little boy Damien was actually the antichrist- Just a heads up for those who don't know; so needless to say when I heard the name Damien I certainly do not think "oh hey Ryan Reynolds", lol. I don't see Van Widler as the son of the devil, although he is rather convincing in the remake of Amityville Horror.

Anyway.

Dorian makes me think of Dorian Gray, and he had an awfully interesting story- names from literature always intrigue me.

I have no names to offer; in my opinion, only the creator can choose a fitting name. But I do have a name site:

www.cool-baby-names.com s my absolute favorite site for when I want to find a name. You can even search by meaning. Good luck in your search.

I use name generators and real name sites extensively for my own characters.

Sometimes it is also fun to translate English words into other languages I use a free translator for this.

Taking well known names and editing the spelling for my own use also provides some interesting results. Ex I took Damien and spelled it 'Daemion' for one of my characters.

Jarek
Lorcan
Bearach
Pyrrhus
Fintan
Conleth
Plamen

. . . I think that's all I've got. And yes, those are all real names. I didn't just throw a bunch of letters together. XD

^ That actually has a Random Name Generator, and that has been very useful in the past for me.
