So, I'm not ususally the type to post a rant like this, but it's kind of been bugging me the past few hours.

You see, I play Warcraft, on an RP server, fairly occasionally. It's a private server, since at the moment I don't have the funds to buy retail right now. On private servers, you can receive access to various admin controls--one of these in an avatar changer, where you can change your player to look like other races you can't physically play in game (i.e, a goblin, or the like).

Now, I chose to take a different route, and made my character look like one of the generic little girl avatars they have. I thought it would be nice, light RPing, without the need to get too emotionally involved to a plot, when I might not be playing there once I get a source of income (but, being a teenager is another rant entirely).

Over the past few days, I've gotten involved in a couple of large group RPs they've been having, kind of unintentionally. I was there, choosing just to watch, and run around, much like a child would. Yet, people still drew attention to me, things like--"oh, where are your parents?" I tried to work around the questions, but it persisted, and the topic changed to my character. Okay, cool, but not exactly wanted.

Now today, my character ran past a group of people and, naturally, she stopped just to listen. Just standing there, I get a private message/whisper from another player: "oh no, it's the little girl again!"

So I respond, "hahaha, I'm everywhere!" (keep in mind, all of this is OOC)

Thinking it was a joke all along, I was surprised to see his next answer: "she always steals the spotlight". I just sat there dumbfounded, and I actually feel really bad about it, but then I also think it's stupid. Since joining the server, I've been walking around on eggshells, because I did get the feeling that they didn't necessarily like me, and when I heard this, I really lost my drive to RP... the thing is, I don't even recognize the guy, and I don't think I've RP'd with him yet.

Needless to say, I don't think I'm going to continue playing there, I just can't bring myself to do it. I mean, I'm not the kind of person who actively tries to draw attention to myself, so it came as a bit of a blow, and really made me start to think what people actually think about me, haha...

Before i say anything, i don't really understand what your talking about ^___^;; since i don't think i've ever played a game like that... :p

BUT! If your worried because these people are talking about your character OOC, tbh, i'd really not worry about it. it is RP'ing after all, and most likely the way i see it, these people are probably jealous, because they want their character to be all "LOOK AT ME!! LOOK!!!" And they are obviously not getting it.

Moving sites is an option, but if you are seriously happy there, i wouldn't let it get to you :) Just do what you do best and RP (If it is a RP site? ^___^;; ) and ignore them, however hard it may be.

I think I get what you're saying...

But maybe you should just make it clear that you're just listening to what's going on. Not really looking to seriously roleplay or steal any kind of spotlight.

That's about the only thing that I can think of that might help you out.
