so real life boards, whatever they are, seem to be the most popular kind of roleplays so i was thinking about making an art school setting site or something like that

but long story short- would peeps be interested in a site where you dont use playbys but instead your character is you, and you use your own pics for your character?

I mean I understand the idea and the concept is cool and everything but most people don't like to post their pictures on the web. I don't think many people feel comfortable doing so. Just a thought though

Well in that case go for it :p
But you could always have the option of using your own picture. Most sites won't let you do that so you can use both
Like if you want to use your own pic do it if not use an actress or actor or model ect

I don't really understand why people get so worked up about overused PBs. People have their preferences and that doesn't mean you have to like them. It just seems like too much of an effort to ban certain ones or try and figure out ways around them. It doesn't seem like its' worth the hassle.

I wouldn't join. I wouldn't want my picture on the forum. You might do better suggesting that people use stock photos rather than celebrities if you're going for a more "normal" look

they're pictures that people upload to the internet for use in digital manipulation and stuff. Sometimes you have to subscribe to a service, but there's a lot of stock at places like deviantart

No, I wouldn't join because I don't put my picture out there online for all to see. Plus, I like being someone different. :p Random characters are exciting.

However, I'd like to see a board like that in action.

There are a lot of reasons I would see this not working.

1) People generally RP to be someone else. A bunch of my characters look NOTHING like me. What about girls who RP as guys/ vice versa?
2) The information/showing pictures taboo. ^^
3) Some people who don't consider themselves attractive wouldn't want to do that. People are shallow and like pretty things. *sigh*

i guess it wouldnt work out and while im never one for the ridiculously active sites i doubt this would even succeed in attaining 10 active memberinos

You never know. Someone might think the same way as you do and want to join. There are people out there that don't mind playing themselves. I've actually had a few people who played themselves on my boards though I found it rather odd. It is called Role playing for a reason. Giving people the chance to be someone they aren't. I'm not sure it would be as much fun playing myself.
