Okay, you.
You're an admin. An administrator of a sizeable board. Because you're on such a large board, of well over 250 members, there will be DRAMA. There will even be drama and disagreements among other staffers.
But everytime something like this happens, you leave.
You fucking run.
One situation happens? You skip the site.
Another disagreement with a co-admin happens? You again leave the site.
This last disagreement occurred? You walked again.
And now you're threatening not to come back.
Listen - your role as an administrator will contain drama. You will have disagreements. Being an admin does not simply give you clearance to wave around a gavel and say "Hey, I can ban!" It doesn't simply give you dominion over your other members and tell them what to do. It merely doesn't mean that you can make a decision and have it obeyed.
It means that when the time comes, you have to step up as an administrator and fight through the problems that occur. That is the biggest role here. If a member insults you, it happens. But don't try to up and leave every time something happens, because now, it's not having the intended effect with some of us. It's having quite the opposite effect.
I don't know if you want a reply to this, but I feel like I can relate... but as someone who did the running.
I was a staffer on this one RP for about 2 years, a member for 2 years before that. There were *counts* at least 8 staffers on this site at one time (however, some would leave and we'd promote in their place). So it was a lot of drama anyway because it was so many different personalities all working together on the same site with very different opinions.
The main admin had abandoned the site because it just hadn't been for him anymore, and that was understandable. He had been running the site for 5 years and he couldn't find the time or the energy to post his many characters. We all respected his decision and we still talked to him afterward. However, he appointed someone who couldn't handle the pressure and they soon left, as well. The baton was then passed to someone who has no idea what she's doing site wise. She has all of the admin powers while the rest of the staff has moderator powers. While she preaches equality (and they work off votes), it just isn't equal. Especially since three of the now 8 staff members are all in the same school and are all RL friends; so, they of course make plans and such for the site without consulting the rest of the staff members first.
I couldn't handle this. The first time I had left was because I couldn't take the abrasive attitude of one of the other staff members, and I couldn't take being blamed for the arguments that ensued even though I was clearly only defending my beliefs and ideas. The second time I had left was because of personal reasons. I felt like I was being attacked whenever I posted an idea (not to mention I felt like I was being taken for granted when I was doing most of the stuff around there, being one of the only active staff members on the site at the time). The last time I had left (and it was for good) it was for the same reason. Drama included. I'm a very sensitive person and this was just too much for me.
I wasn't an admin, I was just a staff member - but the admin did nothing to help.
I know this is kinda me just ranting, too, lol but I thought I'd get that out there. Sometimes it's just easier to run. While it might not be the best thing to do... it's the easiest.
