OK...so. I hate to admit this about my family, but this is internet, so I don't feel too broken up about saying that my family is poor. Dirt poor. We owned a business, but in this economy thats next to impossible anymore. So...we lost said business and now we're going through a bankruptcy.

SO! I've needed to get my hair done for like...months, and I have some job interviews and a few college meeting things I have to go to and I didn't want to look like a slob because my hair was so frightful.

I did like the worst thing I could possibly do. I let my mom cut my hair. She's...knowledgeable in those areas, but I don't think she's actually ever cut someones hair.

OMG! I look like a monster. It's even worse than it was yesterday. All the interviews and stuff I'm going to today- the people might just start laughing.

I wanna curl in a little corner for a few months until my hair has grown back.

My mom loves it....she thinks she did a wonderful job.

I'm sorry things arent going good for you. About the mum thing,...I know. Sometimes you don't feel you can criticise cos when they do something like that, they feel like they have really helped you! This whole situation must be hard on your whole family.

I know this doesn't seem like much advice, but can you get your hands on any hair products? or hair bands? If not, water and a comb and brush works wonders! (personal experience).

Lastly, don't let the hair thing put you off the job interviews or your college meetings. Grit your teeth, make the rest of you look presentable and put your best foot forward! It'll be hard but might just be worth it in the end!

As soon as I posted this up, my mom appeared at my door with like...an old, cob-webbed hair straightener and we worked on my hair for a bit. By the time we got done with it, it actually looked presentable.

Both the meeting and the interview went very well. My eyes started stinging every once and a while because my new bangs got in the way, but I've got high hopes.
