Title: Advertising Help
kino - August 2, 2008 10:08 PM (GMT)
Well, ive just opened a site not too long ago, and im having trouble getting people to join. Ive posted on several site and I havent had the response I wished for. Ive even affiliated or advertised with forums about the same subject matter but ive had little no no results. It might be that the topic maybe is not that well known. Its an Air Gear Roleplay, based off the manga and anime. Is their something I can do besides posting on millions of websites, or is their a way to do so and catch peoples attentions better?

I'd suggest going through the admin docs on here =) They helped me a LOT with advertising tips :D
You could add it to you sig here? Plugboards, link exchanges with fansites as well as forums? Just do whatever you can without spamming.

Ill take a look at those admin docs asap then, and adding it to my signature does sound like a good idea too. Thats allowed right? And fan sites would make sense, but thats the thing, ive looked at several sites, their are very little fansites, and many of them dont allow advertising. Its rather difficult >.<
But thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, you can just put it in your sig here, or definitely look at the RP requests to see if your site is what someone's looking for? Just don't PM your site to anyone, that gets to people. ^_^

Yea, I read that PM part in the rules, but thanks for the reminder. And im going to take a look into that rp request section, I doubt anyone is looking for Air Gear though, lol. Thanks again.

Okay, advertising is hard. From someone with no experience of running a board before my graphics forum, here are some tips;
1. Never stop advertising. You may think you have advertised everywhere, but I bet you've hardly touched the surface.
2. Encourage members to advertise. Remember, they may have influences and be listened to on other boards, so ask politely if they'd like to plug you.
3. Affiliate, affiliate, affiliate. It doesn't matter if the board is nothing to do with you, or anything to do with your site, there may be one member on the board who is interested. And even one member can make a difference.
4. Plug anywhere and everywhere. Don't be picky about where you plug your advert. It doesn't matter, just get your name out there. Be the site that everyone has an advert for, and eventually people will come check you out to see what the fuss is about.
Good luck (:

Basically sounds to advertising boot camp, lol. But it sounds good to me. Ive just posted up a message to encourage members to help with the advertising process, and I think once I hire more staff to help out we can really spread out our advertising to many different sites. I think its going to work. Thanks for the help everyone.
