Title: Admin Only Forum. What The !@%^$#!
Satire.and.Ice - July 27, 2008 02:51 AM (GMT)
PROFANITY IS CHURNING THROUGH MY GUT RIGHT NOW, BUT I WILL TRY TO FOLLOW THE RULES.
I was a member of a site. I know all the admins. It was a vampire site. It went pretty well for what, two, three weeks? I'm not sure, but it's basically new. And they just now CLOSED it, saying it was a good run.
I am so pissed. NOBODY got to even DO anything. And guess what? 'Admins, the site is still at our disposal. one on ones, yay.'
WELL, WHAT THE -bleep- DID YOU MAKE THE SITE FOR?! :rawr: :rawr: :rawr:
It makes NO sense. Those same admins have one site that they took down a few weeks ago for a revamp, and they made that one, NOW it's closed, and they're working on another as we speak. Then what will they do, close that one?! All of their sites, are excellent, original ideas, but it seems as if they will NEVER give the poor sites a chance to blossom!
The admins are good company and all, but they can NOT run a -bleep- site to save their lives. Should I kill them now or later?
I'm sorry, I'm just royally pissed at these admins...making the forum, letting it run for barely a month, then closing it and making it admins only. To make matters worse, I tend to start crying if I get mad enough and I'm trying hard not to.
Just....UGH. *random cursing spree*
---------------------------
My argument, without the screaming in rage, is that they shouldn't be so impatient as to try to MAKE sites work. They even admitted their impatientness in the little spat I had with them, and I'm suddenly the enemy for speaking my opinion. So, to keep me from saying anything else, they took down the whole sidebar and cbox. Immature, or what?
I don't even know if I'll join a site with those d-heads again. Should I? They've had the best ideas so far, it's just their attitudes that need a check...

Good grief. So, I wrote this parody documentation called 'How to Exterminate Members,' and the way you just described those admin, they sound like they popped right out of it. I used to think admin like that didn't exist ... x.x No way should you join another site with them. Arrogant impatient jerks aren't the only ones with good ideas. If you get away from that circle of admin, you may find that there are plenty of sites out there with great plots and premises that actually give you a chance to RP them to their full potential. A leopard can't change its spots, and I wouldn't put myself through that sort of abuse to find out whether or not they will.

might i just say that i loved that document, ash? lol, i'm so slow, i didn't realize it was satire until halfway through XD
but, to the matter at hand...
personally? i think that's atrocious. you create a board for the people, not yourself. if that was the case, you wouldn't open it up or advertise it. yes, i get impatient but i try my best to keep the board running. i might give it a month and close it if people join and then never come back to post but, if there are people posting, i wouldn't close it. and, if i close it, i honestly revamp it and reopen it. when i make a board, i put a lot into it, i refuse to just give up on it.
and for them to ANNOUNCE that they were keeping open for admins only is just wrong. that's a total slap in the face to the members that were posting. it's like saying 'we don't like you enough to post with you anymore'.
personally, i wouldn't even put the effort into killing them, love. there are plenty of other vampire sites to be had with administrative teams far better than what you're describing. [and i'm totally not talking from a biased perspective :p ]. but, imo [which rarely counts for much] i wouldn't ever bother with these people again. not even on boards where they were just members. if they're going to shut their boards down on you like that, what's to say that they wouldn't just disappear on you if you were to try and plot with them on another board?
it's not worth the stress and drama and you deserve more.

I love satire and I loved that documentation. <333
There is one admin that doesn't agree with the whole thing - in fact, the site was mostly put together by her, and one of the admins says it was all him. She's the one I've been talking to lately...she's becoming a bit discouraged about her own new board, but she's not gotten to the point of closing it yet. I'm trying to convince her to give it more time - she's a MUCH better listener.
What I don't understand is why, on all the forums I've dealt with that have nasty admins, that I'm usually the only one to speak up? Maybe one other person will say a little, but no, it's always me who ends up taking the whip. These admins are older than I am, and yet I'm the one not typing in all caps and making accusations. (Which reminds me of that blame-the-members section of your document, Ash. )
Ashamed to say it, but I had half a mind to hack their new site and screw their coding up terribly after this. No, I won't sink to their level...either I have anger problems or they're pathetic, haha.

Funny thing happened that cleared it all up. I had joined a site made by the admins that had already gotten tired of those few admins' ways, since I remember befriending them on the sites. Well, the evil admins tracked me down and began raising the drama on that site (let's call the owner Patty). Well, Patty didn't like that we were fighting our war in her backyard - think of Iron Giant and the military surrounding the kid's home.
So she did something I consider admirable - she pulled a Helen on us. Yes, Helen from Drake and Josh. Long story short, we'd BETTER NOT try anything like that again. After that we shaped up quite well. :D
Now things are good with us, but we'll see if it lasts...

A what? ;D I have no idea what exactly you're referring to, but I am curious.
But, I'm actually in the habit of staying away from roleplays run by admins notorious for constantly closing down their boards only to open the new one right away. Sometimes, completely the same type of board. Why? Why not stick with the first board and make it work, instead. Ugh. What I don't understand even more are members following them around, and joining all those boards that won't last for longer than a month. If that much.
