Title: What Am I Doing Wrong?
Description: Yes another one of these threads lol.

Ok so the situation is basically this. I opened my Buffy RPG several weeks ago and have been advertising as often as possible since then. While the RPG started out well with a handful of members registering only a few have actually stayed and I am having problem attracting more despite the 3-4 members we do currently have being active.

So I have to ask the question what is it I am doing wrong? Is there something wrong with the forum or am I just advertising in the wrong place? Since I don't think posting links is allowed. Click on the link in my profile to get to the board ^_^

You're not doing anything wrong, just keep advertising. If you talk about it, they will come.

I'm guessing this is your first rpg. A big big thing you should know is that members don't always come in flocks and you cannot make them appear at your own will. My advice is to keep advertising you ass off as well as being happy with the members you have and doing you absolute best to keep them happy. Stop worrying about the members you don't have and start worrying about keeping the ones you do and hoping for more. It can take months for you to get a solid member base so its not exactly plausible to wait a few weeks then automatically assume something is wrong with your rpg.

Like the two above, I don't see anything wrong with the forum. It looks fine, actually. I'm not into the Buffy the Vampire Slayer (although, lol, I just watched the movie, and LMAO), so of course I'm not going to join. I'm into the Twilight books, but not into Buffy. Which brings up a good point - you may want to try to get some of the Twilight crowd. While I'm not suggesting you change anything on your forum to Twilight, I do say that you should advertise on Twilight boards and when people request Twilight, you give them yours. Just make sure that you have enough info on your site to help people who have no knowledge of the show/movie.

My only real suggestion would be to try to get the sidebar closer to the forum itself. It's on the complete left side of my screen, forming a huge gap between it and the forum.
Another one would be to get rid of all the default markers, buttons, smilies, and folders. It really says something (to me, anyway) when the Admin goes through and gets custom (well, it doesn't have to be custom - usually I just go to IFSZ) markers and things.

Good luck!

Not to mention that Buffy is far from its prime in popularity, and your forum has only been open for a short while, and you have competition.
