I'm Toni, 19/f, and of course always looking for new friends to roleplay with.
I love doing classic Fantasy based games, but more recently I'm getting into more realistic 'human life' roleplay, and once in awhile I'll poke into a Sailor Moon forum.
I'm in the U.S. Navy as a Chinese linguist. My biggest hobby is learning languages, and Mandarin is actually my fifth.
Also I love collecting and wearing kimono, reading classic literature, drinking green tea (which to me is enjoying simple but divine art), dancing or just generally enjoying all "catchy" forms of music, no matter what genre it's from.
My dream is to become a diplomat, or have some similar role in international affairs. I'm an Asian-American mix and I consider myself a citizen of the world; I want to learn about, help out, and be friends with all types of people.
Wow, sounds neat. What languages do you know and can you speak them fluently? :o
Oh, I'm December, Esq (or just Dec) by the way. Welcome to RPG-D; enjoy yourself here. :pink:
Why thanks, and nice to meet you. ^_^
The list extends and goes through bends and twists:
- I spoke Tagalog as a small child, but all that went down the drain when I started first grade in Maryland.
- I took five years of Spanish, from middle school until my senior year. Living in Cuba for two years definitely helped. In that time I also picked up a book on German and definitely didn't get the hang of that, though I can recognize simple vocabulary.
- I graduated high school in Okinawa, Japan. Having lived there for two years as well, I wouldn't say I'm 100% proficient, but I daresay I'm a bit more dedicated than those who want to learn Japanese 'just for fun' (or are just hardcore anime enthusiasts).
- When I was fifteen or so, my father bought me a CD-ROM with many language games on it, and so I picked up very simple basic Russian once I realized it was in an entirely different script (Cyrillic) and it made me mad that I couldn't read it. :)
I'm mediocre at everything, but only near-perfect in English, and Mandarin Chinese due to intensive training.
