Title: Something Unique
Description: Not very picky, either. :]

Sicaluff - July 22, 2008 01:22 AM (GMT)
Genre: Almost anything. Just not HP or school related. I'm not much for vampires or werewolves, either.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Type(s) of Creature(s): Anything except animals, vampires, or werewolves. Or don't expect me to play any, anyway.
Preferred Rating: PG-13 and up
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Any, so long as it's active.
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: I'm not picky.

Other Notes: I'm unsure as to what it is exactly I'm looking for. I'm just tired of HP boards, and everything overdone (HP/school and vampires/werewolves). I'm not picky about forum software, either. I love experimenting. :]

Rièle - July 22, 2008 01:27 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm not really sure if this is what you're looking for, but it can be called unique! We have a fantasy board, it's for advanced writers, and it gives writers quite a lot of freedom to write the characters, kingdom, races, etc that they want to write.

Good luck! ^_^

The Abydos Quest is an advanced free-form role playing board for writers interested in cooperative fantasy storywriting. There is a short application (post a writing sample for review - something from another board is perfect). No word minimums, shops, canons, or restrictions - write the stories you want and make the characters you want. The provided fantasy 'world' is extremely large, so there's lots of space for you to be creative!
  • Relatively new board, and small community
  • Only advanced writers accepted. Core members average 700-1500 words/post or more, with good depth, detail, spelling, and grammar (less is fine, this is just an idea of what we're like).
  • All stories are original - there are no set plots or cannons. A world with geography has been established for your use, you can create what you will within that.
  • The setting is fantasy - medieval with magic, dragons, knights, etc. Other races/species ok as long as they incorporate into the setting.
  • Most content is PG/PG-13, but there are no word filters.
  • Friendly, active staff who know how to run an RP board.
  • Click here to check us out!

Why hello there! ^-^ I present to you a small-town roleplay, based in Minnesota. We do have some schools involved, but Looks Like Rain revolves around the town as a community and how they react to our plot, not just as students who live in a town. We're just starting out, but if that (or our site) is not quite what you're looking for, then I wish you luck on your search. :3

Perry, Minnesota.

user posted image

Haven't heard of it? Well, that's no surprise. With a population of 11,000 people, it's hard to make itself known, especially in a state of Minnesota's size. Let me be the first to welcome you to Perry, Minnesota. One of many tiny towns in the state of 10,000 lakes.

Late on April 14, 1997, and EF4 tornado brought most of this small town to the ground. Large neighborhoods were destroyed, franchises were left barely standing, and trees were down everywhere, bringing power lines down with them. The tornado sirens in Perry were silent that night - it's still debated whether they were faulty or not. The only people who could've known were those sitting in front of their television sets at 2 A.M. After finally surveying the damage the next day, it was said that a total of twenty-two lives were taken. What happened in Perry that night was, and still is, considered the worst event that has taken place in the southern half of Minnesota in fifty years.

It's now Spring of 2008. It took years for Perry to completely rebuild itself: physically and mentally. Though many residents have chosen to forget the events that took place a little over a decade ago, many still have pangs of fear every time a storm cloud reaches the horizon. When one lives through the destruction of a storm of this magnitude, one doesn't move on easily. It could be decades more before any of the citizens in Perry relax during severe weather.

So, where do you stand? Are you a high school student whose family has lived in Perry their entire lives? Or perhaps you're an incoming college student from another state, with no knowledge of past events that strike fear into the hearts of many Perry citizens. Or maybe you're a mother of two, just trying to get by with what little your job will pay you, while still trying to convince yourself that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice.

Fear is in the eye of the beholder.

Have you looked towards the horizon?
I've heard that it looks like rain.

Sicaluff - July 22, 2008 01:41 AM (GMT)
Thanks, you two! I'm currently taking a look at both sites. <3

Also, more choices are good too. xDD

LittleRikku - July 22, 2008 01:45 AM (GMT)
Well, this is sort of different. Definately not HP and School related. So, maybe you'll like us =]

Currently, some of our members are on vacation. Yet they still manage to post when they can, and definately the members who are still here are active and willing to throw in a thread or two for new members ^-^

So, we'll be thrilled to have you on our site.

Las Vegas is where anything goes, and everything stays. All the secret affairs, gambling, it's where people go for time to just have 'fun'. But then, there's always cheaters to this system and sometimes, it's not always fun for everyone else.

Casino: Fatale is a Literate To Advanced roleplay forum about transparant societies underneath all the lights, and the fancy colors that Las Vegas holds. Two teams, FALCON, and RAVEN, oppose each other in pure hatred for one another, or at least, their leaders due to beliefs about the way things should be run. Main mission? To destroy one's organization before the other destroys yours. Some may think it's simple, and each group puts the main goal as 'Protecting Vegas'.

But there's more to the story than a simple fight and protect scenario. It goes into a deep history between the leaders of each team, and the original goal that both teams shared. Differences create enemies, and now you must decide on where your loyalties lie. And is what you're fighting for truely noble?

- We don't have werewolves or vampires! Isn't that exciting? There are animals, but only one type is playable, and those aren't required. We're also not HP or school-related. Our rating is PG 15 and we're an intermediate to advanced game.

- Only this is, is we're pretty new, so activity isn't super, but it is there... Although it looks mostly like me posting, but that's because I tend to monologue... But we won't be closing, and we're pretty good at replying same day to posts. Everyone is just really caught up in the application process right now. The need to have 9 characters right off! ^^ Anyways...

This is not Earth. There is no savior here, and no one will bleed for your sins.
But they will bleed because of them.

This is A Rage Against Godhood.

Welcome to the Isles of Shorelanei, a realm, a world, created by the torturer of the damned. Upon these shores many have come to rest; the lost seraph of heaven, the first murderer of man, and wandering demons of the abyss. Their children now populate the Isles.

The Demon-Blooded, who were first born.
The Children of Caine, who came second.
The Celestial-Blooded, who were last to be created.
And the Half-Blooded, whose weak lines are a mockery to the pure of blood.

Yet these descendants are not as great as their forefathers. Petty jealousies and hate have harden their hearts against one another. And when the creator of the Isles is exiled by an ambitious schemer, their world became an ocean of strife and uncertainty. Every day brings new hardships and changes, every event affecting even the most distant of people.

Here, it is all a matter of perception. There is no way of telling which path is right and true. With only your heart, and perhaps your faith, to act as your compass, there is no knowing where you might be led. You can only hope that it is not astray and to the brink of total annihilation. Unless, of course, that’s where you want to go.

It is up to the people as a whole, and not a prophesized hero, to save their world from a bitter end, or destroy a new beginning. Can blood be put aside and these four lines join forces to make a stand against all odds in a world where gods wage war?

How will you shape the future? After all, all beings were created with free will.

Fantasy myth & religion based open-ended forum rpg.
Rated PG 15 for violence, language and adult content.

Wonderful! Its like the request built for everyone. It's great that you are looking a lot of different types of rpg's. Trying new stuff is always fun... that's why I suggest CtS to you. It's a post-apocalyptic rpg where prejudice between supernatural races and humans is sending the world to war. We have everything from fun plots to serious and action filled! Please have a look and let me know if there are any questions!

The fire crackles as the dragons wake, finding themselves in a new world with a war on their hands. Their fallen comrades lie in ruin and they let their pain loose with a roar of anguish. Releasing their vengeance, they lay claim to a world that was once held with absolute certainty. But they are not the enemy. Confusion and prejudice has split this world apart. The cities burned, farmlands ravaged. There was only one hope - those who they had looked down on for years. Humanity had fallen to the bottom of the food chain, forced there by the beings they used to call freaks. Psionic, psychic, supernatural  – they were the lifeblood of the new settlements. They protected the mere humans but only to use them. It is a shattered world, built on a foundation of blood.

CtS is a fairly new forum, just entering its third month. We have exciting characters and a completely original plot concept with huge plans for plot development and expansion in the future. We have a great group of people but we are always looking to invite other people into our community. If you want a game that allows you more freedom, please come and check us out.

We are all caught up in Chasing the Storm
Will we ever have time to remember our dreams?

Elenlond - July 22, 2008 03:26 AM (GMT)
Elenlond is an original medieval fantasy Rp =) We don't expect you to create any sorts of characters you don't want to, and our forum isn't overrun with werewolves or vampires, either. In fact, we don't have any, really. XD We're PG-13 and set at an intermediate level with a word minimum set at 100. We are fairly active, so if you'd like to check us out, please do. The staff and the members are super friendly. =D

Elenlond...

A land of mystery, beauty, and power.

In recent times there has been some upheaval as those of the free lands - known as both the Scattered and the Middle Isles - begin to fear the power that the deities exercise over the two main continents, Esiria and Soare. Although no god has endeavoured to conquer the free isles, the people still fear. And there is talk that some have formed groups in Esiria and Soare in support of removing the deities, those who invaded their homeland.

The deities did not choose Elenlond, although they certainly named it. After their original homeland, Mianor, imploded on itself and the world began to devour its own entity, the gods gathered as many of their surviving citizens as they could, pushing them through the largest of the rifts that had begun to form in Mianor. There they travelled, weary from their travels, uncertain of their future.

This time was known as The Great Migration.

It lasted for many weeks - perhaps even months; few kept journals of their journey, and many perished along the way - but eventually, there was an end in sight. The people of the old land plunged into the new and it was named Elenlond. Once they were settled, the people could only breathe:

Our Celestial Haven.

Elenlond has been around for several years, although it recently underwent renovations. Although we sport 60+ members, we are looking for active, dedicated people who will join and help activity to blossom. Our members are friendly, chatty, and we love new people. So, if you're interested, by all means join! We'd love to have you.

It's awesome that you're open for new ideas! I always find that when I stop looking for a specific genre, I accidentally stumble upon something awesome that I never thought I'd like.

Anyway, you might want to give The Fated a look. It's based on a tv show, but knowledge of the show isn't required, and you can follow the plot just fine by, well, reading it. hehe. Happy huntings!

We all go about our business in life, interacting only with those we’re forced into contact with. The same pattern persists every day, unchanging, monotonous. But what if fate intervened? Sometimes in life, things happen for no logical reason. There are inexplicable events that change our path in huge ways, and more importantly, change who we are as people.

We were all just strangers, trying to get by; headed onto a plane to fulfill whatever was the next tiny stitch in the pattern of our lives. None of us knew each other, at least, not in a personal way. We might have seen each other here and there, in the airport, on the streets, never really committing faces to memory. We meant nothing to each other then, because we had no reason to interact. No one else on that plane was a part of life, except for those we were traveling with, and so up until that point we didn’t matter to each other. Our conversations were nothing but white noise to pass the time until we landed at our destination, at which time we’d probably never speak or see each other again. At least, that was what we expected. But what really happened changed our perspective entirely.

We never made it back to Los Angeles. Instead, our plane plummeted from the sky practically before we knew what was happening. We became stranded on an island that we could make neither heads nor tails of, with no contact to the outside world and rapidly dissolving hopes for rescue. But we weren’t the only ones stuck on that island. There were others like us, stranded there, just wanting to get home. And then there was a group of people we didn’t even know existed for a while, who had a completely different agenda.

But regardless of what we would face on that island, the question remained: why were we there? Some said that it was mere coincidence, but others aren’t so sure. Because some of us believe that there is a greater motivator than coincidence. There we were, a plane full of strangers who knew nothing about one another. But now, we live together, survive together. We have been drawn together by a force that plays the greatest hand in directing our lives. We are the Fated.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Fated is a semi-canon roleplay based on the television show Lost. The canon characters will be available for use, as well as original characters. However, we will differ from the show in that our plot on the island will not be the same. There will be no separate tail and fuselage sections. There will also be another group of castaways on the island that were there before the crash of Flight 815. Everyone is free to reinvent the story of their character on the island and how they interact and survive there.
200 years have passed since the immortals were sealed away.  In the generations to follow, they exist only in tales to amuse the children of kingdoms such as Tortall.  The country's capital, Corus, is filled with citizens from all walks of life, each living, from day to day, as well as they can manage - some more legally than others.
The palace is abuzz.  Not only has one of the Conté princesses become betrothed, but her Carthaki fiancé has come to Corus – for all that the wedding is half a decade away.  With him have come banquets, balls, a tournament, and scores of newcomers, from courtiers to slaves.  Not all of the visitors, however, have arrived to wish the couple well; any good spy knows the best time to move in.
Too, mages bring bad news.  Suggestions of a poor harvest come autumn leaves city residents unsure which would be worse: higher taxes in order to pay for food imports, or a winter starvation.  With such uncertainty in the air, many have begun to turn to the Court of the Rogue for help – but at the moment, the Rogue isn’t the happiest of places, either.
Outwardly, the country is at peace.  Inwardly, though, old prejudices die hard.  While the war with the Yamani Islands has since ended, the Yamani who make their home in Corus still face residual bitterness, making a hard life even harder.  Word of skirmishes along Tortall’s southern border reaching the streets has the potential to create another public enemy, Mithros slay any resident who suggests the true enemy might lie within the city’s walls.
In a place such as this, everything can change at a moment’s notice, and never shall any day be ordinary in
CORUS
We're more focused on writing development than you might be used to, but we're also a pretty sedate place. Active for two years and no sign of going 'inactive.' Have just figured out that summer is worse than the school year for most of us in posting terms. XD
Hmm, okay, so the X-Men universe does have a high school, however, you do not have to go anywhere near that affiliation if you do not wish to. In fact, we are looking for more bad guys, particularly someone to run one section of the made up faction we have in the game, so, yeah, if that interests you, take a look. If it's not what you are looking for, that's all good too.
Cheers,
A lot has happened over the course of time, strength and growth clearly seen, as a new school year will inevitably bring more of the usual danger a resident of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters often faces. It seriously doesn’t help that Magneto‘s decision to open a new school of his own has seen many new mutants drawn to the Master of Magnetism's ideals. The Brotherhood Superiorum continues to grow strong, however, it's about to become no longer a school. Erik Magnus Lensherr cannot continue to inculcate his anti human ideals into the next generation if he has to constantly be looking after the duties being Principle entails!
No, it's time to simplify things so he can once again focus solely on the dream that mutants WILL one day reign supreme!
Who really wants to take sides though? Who really cares about either of their ideals? If that sounds like you, then DME is where you belong. Mana4X2's own concept created faction, Damien-Myne Enterprises, stretches over several cities, with its main office in New York City. Your boss is Colin Damien Myne, AKA Boilmet, founder and owner of this Freelance faction;; he offers you great accommodation, excellent pay, and the freedom to do whatever you want…
Cross him, though, and your life won’t be worth living! Boilmet will do whatever it takes to make sure nothing gets in the way of furthering his business… NOTHING, not even you.
And then there is talk that the FoH is working on something to eradicate mutant kind. Will they succeed?
Who knows, because only time will tell…
Hi there. I don't really know if we're what you want, buuut I don't know that we're not, so here goes!
I run a Batman RPG based on Nolan's movies. We've been running for a while, but to be honest, we're still a pretty small board (20 members, just shy of 40 characters), so there's plenty of room to to shine. As we are based on Nolan's take on Batman, rather than general comics, we do keep things a little more down to earth, no powers and such, but we are open to characters from the wider DCU.
Like you asked, we're not Harry Potter or high school based and we are based around a pg-13ish kinda level
``APHELIONREBIRTH
`This is such a quiet town
    Aphelion used to be a small, peaceful town, isolated from society at the top of the Ben Nevis Hill in western Scotland, and average in all of its aspects - except for the fact it sheltered, just outside its limits, the government's pride and joy in terms of scientific advancements: The Aphelion Nuclear Plant. Even during its first trial stages, the people carried on their lives normal, living in certainty that nothing would ever go wrong and that they would be perfectly exactly where they were. The children played in the school grounds, neighbours exchanged dinner recipes and workers commuted to work every morning. However, soon the day came when the town's peace and quiet was disrupted, as the siren rang in the Nuclear Plant, announcing something had gone wrong. Horribly wrong.
`We can hear your neuroses
as they're creeping up your spine
    As one of the blast furnaces unexpectedly exploded, there was absolute panic in town. A few of the citizens managed to escape, but the great majority of the population stayed behind, only to meet their death - if not a much more terrible fate. Several of the houses in town had underground shelters instead of a basement in case an accident happened at the Plant, though even so the people weren't safe. The town would forever bear the marks left behind by that day, as would generations to come.
`Through your neutral pathways,
it's not a pretty sound
    The citizens struggled to re-build their lives in the best way possible, even managing to form families amidst that chaos. As the genetically modified children grew, some of them realized they were different from the other citizens, and thus, from the rest of the world, and they should be kept separated from them. A secret.
`It can still be okay
We can still be saved
    Curious eyes of people from all over the world who come to visit the mysterious ghost-town are times spotted, though never again outside the town limits. While the internal struggle continues,  some fight to break free and others enforce the policy that none should leave. Will you ally with them or will you be just another wandering eye in Aphelion?
Living life in a shroud of secrets isn’t easy. Especially when the biggest secret you’ve got is that you have magickal powers and a war between good and evil is a never ending conflict between witches and demons.
In the massive city of Chicago there’s a life out there that very few can even start to imagine; a life full of potions, spells, and magick that an everyday person can’t see, or chooses to ignore. With a battle like this raging in our streets how can we possible live regular lives? No one expects anyone to be normal, but this abnormality is a wonder in itself.
Now in the height of magical growth and in the infancy of this new millennium there is a new generation of witches, warlocks, demons, white lighters, dark lighters, and cupids. Sure most of them are trying to just get by but many are trying to change the world; for the better or even for the worse.
Chicago is a jungle, a war zone of traffic, pollution, culture, and art, but this… this city is where magick is our reality.
Well, it's not very active yet, but I'd be incredibly appreciative if you gave my little board a look. It's entirely original, and I'm eager to have any active members. If you do take a look, feel free to leave any comments in the chatbox. ^_^
Anyway, on to the premise.
We left the planet
When Earth deteriorated to the point of being nearly uninhabitable, most of the population fled into space. With expansive, climate-controlled space stations waiting in a safe and secure orbit, the planet seemed less than desirable. Those who could afford to leave, did; those who couldn't pay the price, or were too stubborn to leave, were left behind by the shuttles--eventually left for dead when the shuttles stopped running. Power sources died, and with them civilization. There was no chance of survival.
1050 years passed...
The world's population living in the stations--the Offworlders--simply waited for the planet to heal itself. They waited for just over a millennium.
When the conditions were good, a resettlement team of several thousand people were shuttled down to the surface to begin construction of a new city. For a while, it was successful. But when the sun went down, the party was attacked...
A new species has evolved
Those left of the landing team retreated with news of a humanoid threat, taking with them the few enemy corpses left behind. Given the name Descendants, it became obvious that these beings were the product of evolution in their ancestors: the humans left on earth 1000 years before, thought to have died without power and technology.
A second settlement attempt was made. This time the Offworlders brought soldiers, and when another attack was made, they were able to fend off their aggressors.
Now a growing city, Alpha, has its roots in the soil of the planet, and the Descendants are still a threat. There's a conflict on the way...
Can You Hear Them?
Welcome to the Steampunk world of Legend Makers.
The former King was lately found to have died of natural causes at the age of 35. Predicted cause of death was heart failure. Unknown to most, the result of his kingship's death was from a large quantity of Foxglove in his soup, which in small doses is classed as a drug used to aid those with weak hearts, yet large doses can prove fatal.
Following the death of the King, his child Alexander the III has taken up the role of monarch at the young age of 7 years old. Due to his age and inexperience, the Church has offered their services in helping run the Kingdom temporally until his 16th birthday when he can take his rightful position in the political world, seeing as his knowledge of the political world and faith will be up to acceptable standards.
Unknown to the public, the Church has lead the continent for the past 100 years by pulling such stunts similar to this one:
Monarchs have been used as political puppets, to be used when useful and discarded when posing a threat, much like the former king Alfred the IV. His Rule was cut shot due to a few outcries on his half against the Churches current place in the political world, (unaware, every decision he ever took as King was moulded by the Churches very hands). This lead to a momentary laps in the peoples respect for the Church. The Puppets strings were quickly cut away, opening a position for a new monarch, a new face for the church to hide there scheming behind.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...
The galaxy has returned to a state all too familiar to history. Five thousand years ago the empire was born and the rebellion came about, now five thousand years after the rebellion and the struggle between the rebel and imperial forces, the galactic empire has been reborn. Now as large a superpower as that of the galactic alliance, they are back in the running for galactic domination.
Unlike five thousand years ago, the mandalorians are now a key factor in the events of the galaxy. They themselves have amassed a sizeable force and have persuaded a few brute races to join their cause. An enemy of both alliance and empire, they stand alone, in defiance of any sign of order.
The Jedi order has split into three different orders and have grown from there. While each order is not fully aligned with any particular faction, the three jedi orders seem to be in favor of the galactic alliance, save the gray jedi who are known to have jedi fighting on both sides.
The sith, while also having been around throughout the ages, are still in the shadows; waiting, watching, and planning to move when their time is right. Under the one known as Venalus they seem as if they will be able to be able to make their move.
Criminals, criminals, oh the criminals. Crime of course is up everywhere and affects everyone. However, the criminals of the age are proving to be smarter than those of old, as they expand in their criminal industries. While some criminal organizations aren't entirely criminal and others are, there may still be some form of crime in the future should most of it be shut down by the authorities combating it.
The common people, or freelancers, are just the people making their own way in the galaxy. They don't have any real ties to anyone or any faction in the galaxy. It is most commonly said about freelancers that they are just out for themselves and could all but give a damn about anyone else, but thats just what other people say.
The aura of the force surrounds everyone and everything. Whether it draws you in or not, you are a part of the force and it is a part of you. Only you can make your own destiny and fulfill it. Choose wisely for there are many paths before you.
So, we escaped. That's all it's come down to. Germany is behind us, and we will NEVER go back there again, if we can prevent it. You guys were a ton of help, with that awesome knocking-down-the-giant-wall move back there. I honestly don't think we could have done it without you. Serious awesome points.
As to where we are now? I can't tell you. All I can say, is that whatever you guys did, you need to keep doing! We've got an army of mutant hybrids with us now, and we're ready to kick some Itex butt. The By-Half plan will NOT be put into action.
Have you ever wanted to play god? Do pesky people annoy you so much you just want to kill them in a spectacular way? Well now you can! At Meddling Immortals, a literate RPG, we give you the chance to do just that. You can visit the towers of Jahata, the coral cities of the Mer, the steaming deserts of Gath, the eternal revelry of Silviv, and even some strange planes that defy imagination. And you can do it all without worrying about every robber or sword-swinging hero that comes along. If they annoy you, just kill them!
Why can you kill with such impunity, you ask? How? Because you are half-god, half mortal, that's why! As an immortal demi-god, you have power wizards dream of when smoking poppyseed oil. Not to mention that every human is NPCed. They're practically meant to be destroyed!
Let your dreams (yes, including your nightmares) come true at Meddling Immortals!
Yup. 100% unique. Makes advertising a pain, but it's good. It's active, and it's different. Guaranteed.
AND WHERE HELL IS, THERE MUST WE EVER BE
ALL PLACES SHALL BE HELL THAT IS NOT HEAVEN.
WHY THIS IS HELL! NOR AM I OUT OF IT!
SO, LET'S SAY YOU'VE JUST DIED. YOU KNOW YOU DID, YOU CAN REMEMBER THE BLOOD OR THE PAIN OR WELL, HOWEVER IT IS THAT YOU JUST SO HAPPENED TO HAVE KICKED THE BUCKET, BUT THE THING IS, THE AFTERLIFE DOESN'T LOOK ALL THAT DIFFERENT FROM, SAY, ANY INCREDIBLY SHITTY LITTLE TOWN IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. BEFORE YOU GO THINKING YOU'VE GOTTEN STUCK IN SOME SORT OF PURGATORY THOUGH, DON'T WORRY, BECAUSE YOU SEE THOSE CHEERFUL PEOPLE ALL DRESSED IN BLACK CLOAKS? THEY'RE HERE TO INFORM YOU THAT THIS ISN'T PURGATORY! IT'S HELL'S WAITING ROOM! HELL'S GOTTEN A LITTLE FULL AT THE MOMENT, AND WHEN GOD CREATED HELL, HE HADN'T ANTICIPATED US HUMANS BEING SO INCREDIBLY SELFISH, SO HE DIDN'T MAKE IT QUITE AS ROOMY AS HEAVEN. WELL, GOD, THE POWERS THAT BE, WHATEVER YOU FEEL LIKE BELIEVING IN RIGHT NOW, HE AND LUCIFER ARE WORKING ON IT FOR YOU, SO FOR NOW, YOU HAVE TO SIT AND CHILL. APPARENTLY MAKING PITS OF FIRE AND HIRING DEMONS OUT TO RIP THE FLESH FROM YOUR BONES IS A TOUGH GIG.
SO, YOU'VE GOT A COUPLE YEARS TO KILL IN HELL'S EQUIVALENT OF A WAITING ROOM. WHAT DO YOU DO? WELL, YOU COULD GET A JOB. CRAPSHOOT OF A PIZZA JOINT DOWN THE ROAD SEEMS TO BE HIRING. OR YOU COULD MILL ABOUT AIMLESSLY CONTINUING TO BE AS USELESS AS YOU WERE BACK ON EARTH. EITHER WAY, YOU'RE STUCK HERE WITH HUNDREDS OF OTHER MISFITS THAT JUST COULDN'T QUITE GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER.
---
THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE TOLD WHEN YOU GET TO BRUGES, LIMBO, ANYWAY. SOLEMN REAPER TYPES BRING ALL THE LOST SOULS IN ON CITY BUSES, TELL 'EM TO GIVE IT A COUPLE YEARS AND HELL WILL HAVE A NICE TOASTY SPOT OPEN, BUT UNTIL THEN, BE GRATEFUL THAT THEY'VE BEEN ALLOWED TO CHILL. PUN INTENDED. THING IS, BRUGES IS NOT HELL'S WAITING ROOM, IT'S A JOKE BETWEEN GOD AND LUCIFER. GOD DECIDED PURGATORY WAS TOO EASY, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PEOPLE KNEW THAT THEY WERE THERE JUST LONG ENOUGH TO PLAY NICE. SO HE REDECORATED WITH THE HELP OF LUCIFER, AND RENAMED PURGATORY BRUGES AFTER AN ENTERTAINING MOVIE THEY'D WATCHED TOGETHER ABOUT AN UNHAPPY HITMAN. BUT THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT. BRUGES WAS SET UP SO THAT GOD COULD SEE IF ANYONE REALLY WANTED TO CHANGE, WOULD THEY GIVE UP THEIR HUMANITY AND SIMPLY GORGE THEMSELVES ON ALCOHOL AND DRUGS, DROWN THEIR SORROWS AS IT WERE? OR WOULD THEY TRY TO SHAPE UP, EVEN IF THEY WERE TOLD ALL HOPE WAS LOST? IT WAS A BETTER WAY TO TELL THE USELESS FROM THE USEFUL.
ALONG WITH THAT, GOD SENT DOWN SOME ANGELS TO HELP TEMPT SOULS HIS WAY, WHILE LUCIFER SENT UP SOME LUCKY DEMONS TO DO THE SAME. IT'S A LONG RUNNING GAME WITH LUCIFER AND GOD, WHO CAN WIN OVER THE MOST SOULS TO THEIR PART OF THE SPECTRUM. LUCIFER USES COOKIES TO TEMPT, AND GOD... HE CHEATS. HE USES PRETTY WINGED ANGELS OF THE OPPOSITE SEX BEHIND LUCIFER'S BACK. COURSE, HE'S GOD, SO HE CAN DO WHAT HE WANTS, RIGHT?
---
SO WHAT WILL IT BE? TRADE REASON IN FOR MADNESS? OR DO YOU STILL HAVE THAT LAST LITTLE BIT OF HOPE LEFT IN THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD THAT MAYBE GOD HASN'T FORGOTTEN YOU? REMEMBER, GOD HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES. LUCIFER'S ALL ABOUT INSTANT GRATIFICATION AND ETERNAL DAMNATION. UP TO YOU.
After something different? If historical RPGs fit the bill, take a look at Show the Colours. We're small, but active and very friendly.
Welcome to the Napoleonic Wars. It is May 1809.
The Army: Five months ago, the British were driven from the Peninsula. They fought every step of the way, and their General was killed in battle. But now... now it is time to fight again. Not all the British left, however.
Sir Arthur Wellesley has recently arrived to take command of the small contingent left in Lisbon. Can he take them from defeat to victory?
The Navy: Five years ago, the British fleet defeated the French and Spanish in battle. They won a glorious victory at the cost of their Admiral's life. Britain gained control of the seas... or did she?
Rumours abound that the French are rebuilding their shattered fleet, ready to rise again. Will they succeed?
The French: The French are confident they can win. Their army is undefeated on land, save for minor skirmishes nine months ago. They are the best of the best. Their Emperor has returned to France, safe in the assurance that the British forces left pose no threat to his plans to take control of the entire Iberian Peninsula.
Soon, they will move south to strike at the Portuguese capital, knowing no one can stand in their way.
This is a world at war. From battles at sea to skirmishes on land to the secret fact-finding missions of spies of both sides, there is danger at every turn. There is friendship and camaraderie, too. But the clouds are gathering.
2013.
What an unlucky number.
    "My name? Oh... it's not really safe to say now, is it? Sorry. But it's best to stay anonymous
    when you're talking about things like this; particularly as my house was broken into last week.
    I'm not feeling sorry for myself, not by far; it happened to my friend too. The crime rate started
    to shoot up here in London in about 2010 and it just kept going. The authorities can't really
    handle it. Why don't we move? Because it's the same everywhere else; London just happens to
    be where I stay. So many people are mugged near me now and there was even a murder only
    five minutes from where I stay. It's unsafe and I can't even let my kids out of the house. I mean,
    there was once a time where I could stroll down the street without clutching my kids' hands and
    holding my handbag tight to my chest in case someone should try and grab it."
Welcome to London.
Your own personal hell.
Everyone's own personal hell.
    Imagine crime shooting up to a ridiculous level. Imagine being
    afraid to walk down the street. Imagine the breaking of the law
    around you every day. Imagine the authorities losing control.
    Imagine the punk movement's utter dream and your worst nightmare.
    You my friend, are imagining 2013.
Watch out or you may end up with
BULLETS IN THE BACK.
Bullets In The Back is a hopefully successful attempt at a crime RPG
where crime actually does happen and the events actually are realistic
for the future but pretty horrific. The roleplay is advanced and we are
an originals only roleplay, believing in true freedom with characters.
We are R-rated so be sure you can handle violence. Hope to see you there!
I would like to think that we are a bit different that HP and school boards. We aren't a teenager board in that sense. In fact, almost all our characters are grown up.
In the mists of time, long before Saetan was called to make his legend in the realms, wearing the darkest of jewels, the Black. Long before he used that power to rub the entire territory of Zuulman out of existence. Long before the coming of the most powerful witch to walk the realms. The dark weaving of Mother Night calls you from the comfort of the Darkness to bring you forth into a world of light and conflict.
In the glaring Light you see edges and differences that had no meaning in the Darkness, differences in race and social status, leading to conflict with ones self, your neighbors, sometimes all the world. You have been born into a world where violent emotions of hate, fear, jealousy and anger, especially anger, can erupt for the smallest offense.
You are Blood. Mother Night has given you more, a caste and the ability to wear a jewel. Your caste and jewel are yet more means to differentiate you from your peers and bring more hate, jealousy and delicious anger. Yes delicious anger, for your jewel can channel your anger into power, power to strike your enemies and power to frighten your friends. It is indiscriminate, cold, and dark, the darker the more powerful and frightening.
Simply by being Blood you are dangerous to all around you, everyone sensitive to the chill in the air that announces one of the Blood tapping into the dark depths of their jewel. It is the calm, cold, still moment before all that anger and dark power erupts upon the world in dark violence destroying all that are not protected by the power of an even darker jewel. There is no jewel darker than the Black. When Blood wearing Black go cold all you can do is summon your courage. There is no place you can run to, no one to whom you can pray. You have to summon the courage to take the anger that fuels the Black away, to lead the Blood gone cold from the killing edge.
It can't be all anger, hate and conflict that the Light offers, for Mother Night could not be so cruel to call you to a world so harsh as to offer only pain. The jewels gifted to the blood respond to, enhance and violently manifest all emotions not just the destructive ones. Blood will sing to Blood, jewels will sing to jewels, lords will sing to witches and Princes will sing to Queens, the darker the Blood and the jewels the more violent the passion and the more beautiful the song.
What will be your song? Will be a song of pain full of the wild notes of war, conflict and death? Will it be a song of celebration strong enough to stir the ancient hearts of the dragons still rumored to live in the realms, thanking them for the gifts they bestowed to the Blood? Will it be a song of sorrow, a keening howl or mournful dirge, deep and dark enough to blunt the edges and ease the anger? Will your song call to all the Blood of the ages resonant with a violent joyful power, transformative to all it touches and born from the deepest love?
Somewhere a weaver of dark webs calls the silken strands of joy, pain, sorrow and celebration left in your passing and the passing of all the Blood. Black strands of the darkest power fitted one to the other into the darkest web, forming the shape of a dream, and one day that dream will be made flesh, calling Witch to the realms.
Welcome into the world. Welcome to the Darkest Web.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Darkest Web is a mature, advanced role-playing board based off of Anne Bishop’s Black Jewel Trilogy. In a time of blood and tribulation, we are forging our own tales about the men and women that make up the Blood Race. Romance, war, and scandals fill up the pages of our book as we tell the stories of those that could become legends. The Darkest Web has been an active board for two years now, and we plan on being around for many more to come. We have wonderful administration team and very active players. We are always looking for new players and new ideas. We would love to have you.
