Title: I Need A Home D:
Description: but i'm very picky...

Ariana - July 16, 2008 12:01 AM (GMT)
Alright, now that I actually have time to join a site I'm thinking I might give the request thread a shot since I can't find anything that's interesting me. Beware, I'm really, really picky... but I don't think my reasons are completely unreasonable.

Genre: Umm. Not really sure... Maybe some interesting real life, postapocalyptic, crime, fantasy/horror or historical? I'm actually mainly looking for something really original.
Difficulty:Advanced/Experienced writers
Type(s) of Creature(s): Preferably just humans, maybeee vampires and whatnot if the site is original in plot. I'm not too keen on there being too many made up races. Magical beings are fine as long as they are mainly human looking.
Preferred Rating: pg-13 or R
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Um, as long as it's active. I don't mind if it's new, so long as it shows some promise of not dying within ten days.
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: anything, really. so long as it's not too hard to play... like I'm not a big fan of Medieval roleplays, for example

Other Notes:
I'm not looking for:
Harry Potter
Twilight
Band RP
Medieval Roleplay
Something too fantasy, with made up lands and whatnot

I want to play an adult, not a bunch of drugged out scene kids running around and being stupid (wow. talk about me stereotyping). My characters are also.. eccentric at times, so hopefully that will be okay.

The community has to be pretty welcoming and nice, I want this to be somewhere I feel at home.

I don't want to play a canon.

The site should be pretty, but it's not the most important thing.

umm, this is all I can think of... I'll edit if I think of anything.
Thanks for your time, everyone :]

Alandree - July 16, 2008 12:15 AM (GMT)
Might this interest you? We're historical (Victorian), and gothic-ish. Horror-ish too, if you fancy. We have canons (from musicals), but you needn't play any, as they don't center around the plot. We likes the OCs. Oh, and we also love the eccentric ones.

Venture into a world of musical obscurity...

...shadows decorate every corner, and line the faces of passer-bys. There have recently been a large handful of missing persons reports, leading the authorities to be especially watchful of criminal activity. The citizens of Paris brush this matter under their hats however. There are far more important things to think about. Such as the upcoming Masquerade ball at the Opéra Garnier...

Who will you be? The timid chorus girl, who enjoys tea and cakes on Sundays...The gloomy politician, who watches Paris go by from his penthouse window...The pragmatic barkeep who sees his patrons drink their cares away through hazy green bottles...Or another mysterious face who appears in the crowd among hundreds, with secret desires and talents yet to be extricated?

Check us out.
  • We're a futuristic semi-post-apocalyptic RPG based on the characters and canon of James Cameron's Dark Angel.
  • With a well established two and a hald months under our belt we don't look like going offline any time soon, and while our main rating is PG-13, we do have a rated section away from the prying eyes of kiddies.
  • Our level is pretty mixed, but we don't have post limits so you can write as much or as little as you like, and you don't have to have watched the show to play.
  • Playing a canon is not a requirement, and eccentric adult characters are more than welcome.

QUOTE
For millenia they have walked among us. Familiars, a religious sect of humans bred to be stronger, faster and smarter than their non-Familiar counterparts. Able to trace their lines to Ancient Minoa and beyond, they have their own traditions, their own religion and their own laws, and they believe that coming destruction of civilisation will leave them free to take over the world. But they are still human, and sometimes their traditions can send a Familiar mad.

On such occasions they are usually dealt with quickly and quietly; locked away in a Familiar run asylum or done away with in an 'accident'. But if they are clever, they can get away, start afresh. Maybe even develop a new race to combat the religious mania of their former friends, family and lovers. One man did, with the aid of the United State military and a team of dedicated scientists. He created transgenics, an army of super-soldiers created in test tubes from a mixture of human and animal DNA. Early experiments were largely unsuccessful, but successful enough to keep funding from drying up. By the end of the 20th century, the facility named Manticore was developing whole units of these child soldiers, training them to fight as soon as they could pay attention long enough. They were trying to reduce military casualties by sending in transgenic children trained in the art of warfare instead of humans.

What they didn't count on was the freewill of their young prodigies. Early in 2009, twelve of the transgenics from what was known as the X5 series managed to escape. Although they forcibly turned the remaining transgenics into good little soldiers, Manticore officials were never able to track down those twelve escapees, the so called best of the bunch. After an electromagnetic attack by terrorists known as the Pulse turned all the 1s and 0s into just plain 0s, effectively reducing America to a third world country, it just didn't seem plausible to continue the search. Manticore kept making it's child soldiers, and the twelve escapees kept watching their back, until there was such a time as they no longer could. Then they took the offensive to Manticore, blowing up the gene storage facility.

It was 2020 when they finally brought Manticore down for real, as much as they were able to anyway. Blowing up the main base, releasing transgenics into the world, they set about a new chain of events that led to a media frenzy. Human mobs would be set on transgenic target who just wanted to live free, and the tension was exascerbated by Familiars wanting to rid the world of this new threat to their society.

In 2021 transgenics went from being an urban myth, to a known reality. In the end, the transgenics settled on ground where humans couldn't safely tread, Seattle's Terminal City, otherwise known as Freak Nation.

It is now 2022, nearly a year after the transgenics set up their own city. Manticore's has for the last few months been moving its operations from US soil, closing the last two bases, and moving to a new mega base. Now run by Familiars, Manticore has moved to Canada, and is using transgenics to round up those that fled when the original facility was destroyed. Familiars are also engaged in this pursuit, as are humans, and there are transgenics across Seattle just trying to live their lives in a broken world that's gone Pollo Loco

This may actually fit several of your interests, surprisingly enough. It's sci-fi/post-apocalyptic, original, meant to have literate players, there are human(oid) character species (one of which is fictional, but original), and the rating is flexible between PG-13 to R. It's not the prettiest site ever (and yes, I know about the weird off-centering of the titles for the categories, I want to fix that o.O ) and it's still got a new-forum smell. There's very little activity at the moment, but I really want to remedy that problem. Anyway, here's the premise.

We left the planet

When Earth deteriorated to the point of being nearly uninhabitable, most of the population fled into space. With expansive, climate-controlled space stations waiting in a safe and secure orbit, the planet seemed less than desirable. Those who could afford to leave, did; those who couldn't pay the price, or were too stubborn to leave, were left behind by the shuttles--eventually left for dead when the shuttles stopped running. Power sources died, and with them civilization. There was no chance of survival.

1050 years passed...

The world's population living in the stations--the Offworlders--simply waited for the planet to heal itself. They waited for just over a millennium.

When the conditions were good, a resettlement team of several thousand people were shuttled down to the surface to begin construction of a new city. For a while, it was successful. But when the sun went down, the party was attacked...

A new species has evolved

Those left of the landing team retreated with news of a humanoid threat, taking with them the few enemy corpses left behind. Given the name Descendants, it became obvious that these beings were the product of evolution in their ancestors: the humans left on earth 1000 years before, thought to have died without power and technology.

A second settlement attempt was made. This time the Offworlders brought soldiers, and when another attack was made, they were able to fend off their aggressors.

Now a growing city, Alpha, has its roots in the soil of the planet, and the Descendants are still a threat. There's a conflict on the way...

Can You Hear Them?

We fit a number of your requirements. Our characters are largely adults, as are our writers; some do have drug problems, but we require that to be realistic, not glamorized or played for drama or attention. Plot is largely free-form, we've gone for two years with no overarching plot and I'm not planning on starting now. We are a very welcoming group, and love new members. People tend to bend over backwards for the newbs. Come check us out, I think you'd like us.
We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . You don't need to know a thing about the musical or the movie, since the characters are just characters, nothing more. We're grown up, decent writers, and friendly as can be. Have a look. The banner in my sig's the link.

You're living in America at the end of the millennia. . . and you're not alone.
Alphabet City
We're in the year 1996 and the colorful residents of the East Village in Manhattan are facing the issues which challenge poor Bohemian artists in the mid-90s. Drug abuse, HIV, prostitution, starvation, death, life, and love. However, they find that they aren't alone, friends are all around, and there is always coffee to be drunk, issues to be discussed, and art to be created, good and otherwise. Come join our cast of canon and original characters, featuring a strong sense of community and creativity and find that you're not alone either.
Other notes:Based on the Broadway musical RENT, set post-canon, though slightly AU to keep Angel alive. We have evolved and changed over the past two years from a fandom RP to a RL RP with some fandom characters.  We are lucky to have a great group of OCs who are keeping the plot moving and changing quickly, and we always welcome new writers and OCs with open arms.
We also have a brand new board!  It's pretty and blue and still has that new board smell!!  Come see.  It's pwetty!!!

December, Esq - July 16, 2008 06:06 AM (GMT)
Hello there. ;) I have Camp December here, which I think is pretty original. Want to know why?

a) It's a summer camp that doesn't involve teenagers screwing each other all the time. XD (Stereotyping much, eh?)

b) It runs for 2-3 months as we RP the camp over the course of a month in RP time.

At any rate, here's the actual ad:

Ever wanted to go to a summer camp but decided that the dirt and the sun wasn't for you? Or perhaps you want to go but you don't have the time. Well then, come to Camp December.

Camp December is a virtual summer camp that lasts approximately 2-3 months in real time while we RP a month-long summer camp. During these two months you can make characters, create plots, expand relationships while meeting new people in the roleplaying community.

Join us at Camp December

DD may be for you, it fits several of your requirements. You can play a human if you like, we have Vampires and then most other characters are humans of one kind or another. Definetly very active, and set in modern times. We have a very wide variety in characters, mostly originals, and DD is definetly about more than just who is dating who. Check out or current board plots to know what's going on now. What you consider a pretty site, I can't really know... but check us out and see if it's something you'll like :)

"Blood has always been the coin of our realm."
~Dracula 2000

The Lord of Darkness, Dracula, rose from the dead once more in the year 2007 – and he rose with just one thing in mind. Revenge over the God who denied him death so long ago. Now, in 2008, the Dragulian Empire is for the first time truly expanding, and even more after both all of Africa and Australia submitted to the Vampire rule... and with the help of blood from a witch born with Dracula’s blood – Charlotte Heller, granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing – the Vampires are rising like never before, even able to have children, and walk in daylight. Dark Desires is inspired by the movie Dracula 2000 (but not the sequels), but also referring to many other myths about the greatest living vampire of all times. It is a good idea to have seen the movie, but not a requirement.

Join us in the new dark times, that are certainly increasing – be a part of the new world which our Lord of Darkness, and King of the Dragulian Empire, is trying to create. The threat that waited to be released, is out, and who knows if the Human kind is doomed or not? Who shall you be in this new world, if not a simple Human or one of the Vampires? Perhaps you’d be a Token, supporting the Vampires in their quest for perfection? Or maybe the opposite, a Slayer, trying to restore order in the lately chaotic world? Dark Desires contains a wide variety in characters, and is in general a very friendly community, welcoming even the more odd character types. There is much to see and explore, especially with the world coming close to a change it has not seen for centuries. If you long to know, then the only remaining question is not if, but when you will give in to your Dark Desires?

A few short weeks after the siege at Jam Pony, the Transgenics are living freely. With their own fort and a bio-hazard sign to stop trespassers and the mobs, they can finally spend time in the light, lapping up the sun, or the life, they always wanted.

The scene is set for a happy life, unbroken by those who hunt them, but they know that can't last forever. As news spreads about the Transgenics and their nation, more and more angry citizens are getting involved. Transgenics from all over the country and cropping up and joining in the fight.

However, agencies sent to abolish them are depleting, as they realize the job is just too large.

Max is running the nation, with help from Alec and those others who stood by her. Just as things started to look up, their new world seems to have come falling down around them. What will they do now?

Their freedom will not come easily, but with the help of their friends new and old; the Transgenics will fight through to the end.

Hi Ariana! I really think that CtS would be a good fit for you because we have a good mix of experienced and newer writers that work together to improve and come up with new and exciting plots. The rpg is post-apocalyptic with a few different races top choose from. The plot circles around a lot of prejudices so there is a lot more to the rpg than just what is on the surface. If you are interested, please take a look. I am never too far away if you have any questions. ļ

The fire crackles as the dragons wake, finding themselves in a new world with a war on their hands. Their fallen comrades lie in ruin and they let their pain loose with a roar of anguish. Releasing their vengeance, they lay claim to a world that was once held with absolute certainty. But they are not the enemy. Confusion and prejudice has split this world apart. The cities burned, farmlands ravaged. There was only one hope - those who they had looked down on for years. Humanity had fallen to the bottom of the food chain, forced there by the beings they used to call freaks. Psionic, psychic, supernatural ¡V they were the lifeblood of the new settlements. They protected the mere humans but only to use them. It is a shattered world, built on a foundation of blood.

We're about a month old, and we're already in the midst of our first subplot and i'm already going to open the second one soon. So you shouldnt be too lost.

Plus, the admin answers questions nearly 24 hours xD

Las Vegas is where anything goes, and everything stays. All the secret affairs, gambling, it's where people go for time to just have 'fun'. But then, there's always cheaters to this system and sometimes, it's not always fun for everyone else.

Casino: Fatale is a Literate To Advanced roleplay forum about transparant societies underneath all the lights, and the fancy colors that Las Vegas holds. Two teams, FALCON, and RAVEN, oppose each other in pure hatred for one another, or at least, their leaders due to beliefs about the way things should be run. Main mission? To destroy one's organization before the other destroys yours. Some may think it's simple, and each group puts the main goal as 'Protecting Vegas'.

But there's more to the story than a simple fight and protect scenario. It goes into a deep history between the leaders of each team, and the original goal that both teams shared. Differences create enemies, and now you must decide on where your loyalties lie. And is what you're fighting for truely noble?

    You might find us worth a look, maybe not but worth a shot. We're completely original, everything was created by myself and the various few members we've had over the years and it's evolved quite a bit. We have several races but most have been added by the member base. Mostly the various races are generally just altered humans so technically we're just a bunch of humans. XD

    The plotline is somewhat long, it explains the whole system and how everything came to have happened so since you may not want to read all that I'll give you the basic gist;

    During our modern times, NASA was the epitome of all scientific endeavor. Taking lead, they morphed into Aeon Geneticore, unto which all science centers on Earth came to be a part of. Space exploration and science became a replacement God, leading the way for new opportunities. The frontier was in space. To this day, only Neptune and Pluto remain uncolonized.

    When the Earth began to collapse under our feet, it wasn't hard to figure out where to go. Erinyes, one of the best planets for sustaining human life, became the Neo Earth. But it already had inhabitants, and they weren't happy. These alien creatures were a major threat, but Aeon had it under control. The modifications began, and eventually the aliens were handed defeat at the hands of genetically modified humans who could easily blow the water off the planet into orbit. At first we were afraid of these humans, and then we worshiped them and their creators.

    Aeon became the leader of the entire humanoid universe; every human in existence was under their protection - and their control. Several scientists rebelled, refusing to continue the human modifications after the fall of the alien beings, because we weren't defending ourselves anymore. We were destroying ourselves from the inside, just playing games with the delicate strands of human DNA. When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty. A revolution has begun. Where do you stand?

Dirty Little Secret !

At this moment, there are six billion, four hundred seventy million, eight hundred eighteen thousand, six hundred seventy one people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil.

Six billion people in the world, six billion souls, and sometimes…all you need is ONE.
    Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has secrets, but what if just what if your mistake or secret was big enough to make you run and hide would you run? Leave behind the people you grew to love: friends, family, children, spouses, everyone in your life? Well, there’s a city in New Mexico that allows this… Albuquerque, perched right in the valley of the mountains in the middle of the desert. There’s tons of things here to start your new life. But be careful as the secret city grows bigger it’ll grow harder to keep your secret with newcomers from peoples hometowns come in, how long is your new life going to be a secret still.

Dirty Little Secret!

But: Puppeteer and xiveira; both your sites caught my attention. They are really different from what I'm used to, so I'm not entirely sure if I want to join but I'll be looking into both some more.

The rest of you guys, sorry! All wonderful sites, but just not the right fit or something I was looking for.

I've got Out In The Black for you, a Firefly based RPG. Although it's original and all the info you need to know is located on the forum. Is kind of a real life sci-fi western. It's focussed on life on the frontier planets/space, where life is hard and we have different options where you can have a character, on one of the two ships or on a frontier town called Ol'Hall. We got 15 accepted characters and our members are very welcoming and always willing to RP with new members. I'll post our ad up as well below but if you are interested and have any questions, feel free to pm me or post in the cbox on OitB ^^.

Early 21st century, Earth had finally grown beyond its limits and exhausted its resources. Mankind reached for the stars and found themselves a new solar system, with dozens of planets and hundreds of moons. Each one eventually terraformed to sustain life, a process taking decades.

Early 26st century, life on the partially colonized outer planets resembles the lawlessness and desolation of the American Old West. While the core planets prospered and grew strong in their ideals under Alliance control. The Alliance, a formation between old America and China, wanted to get the outer planets under their control too. Independents refused these idealistic views and war broke out, known as the unification war.

Five long years later war ended with heavy casualties on both sides, more heavily so on the Independents side than the Alliance. Even more then before the outer worlds were impoverished and crime ridden.

The year is now late 2519, and in the quest to seek out the perfect civilization the Alliance began experimenting to create the perfect society in taming aggressive behaviour. But it backfired resulting in millions of innocent lives that were lost and the birth of a new people, Reavers, malicious and cannibalistic people. Alliance tried to cover everything up.

Mid 2519 word got out, the last recorded message of a scientist was broadcasted across the Verse. The secret revolting and rebellion spread across the stars once more. The Alliance denied the reports at first but eventually embraced the idea and regarded it as a necessary loss. Others thought differently.

The Alliance this time is on the guard, trying to stop any uprising of those who step out of their control and challenge them. The 'Miranda' project, as they called it, has become their battle cry. It has been seared into their brain as lost loved ones made their sacrifices on that forgotten planet.

Its a playing ground; how will you play it ?

An active & original Firefly Verse RPG! Set after the Serenity movie in late 2519. Explore life on the Rim or join up on a ship, anything is possible on ’Out In The Black’

But you would rather be in work than out of a job. The fame and the money that comes with
it --- priceless. Suddenly everyone knows your name, and all your school enemies are calling
you up to "chat".

Except happy endings are stories that have not finished. You wake up one morning and you

Are you ready to join the elite?

THEY ARE THE GOLDEN AND THE CHOSEN

An acceptance letter has arrived to Monroe College an academic achievement and the key to a thousand doors, but maybe, just maybe a mixed blessing worth thinking over...

Situated in Northern California, just slightly inland from a long row of pristine beach land, lies one of the country's most prestigious universities: Monroe University. Founded by descendants of President James Monroe, the university has everything from its own private stretch of beach to world wide reputation for academic excellence. Monroe University is as elite and competitive as one might imagine it to be and stands among the most prestigious Ivy League Institutions.

On the surface, Monroe looks perfect: All the history of the East Coast Ivy League with the endless summers of West Coast paradise. Prestigious buildings, decorated professors, and the white sanded shores of Northern California sounds too good to be true, right?

THATS BECAUSE IT IS.

Delve a little further into the exclusive, glamorous world of Monroe and a trail of mystery emerges, centered around the elusive Graves and Roses, the most elite and powerful secret society on this particular coast. Everyone who's anyone is a member, but then again they'd never tell you. Freshmen are just dying to get in... literally.

Last year, tragedy struck Monroe when alleged Graves and Roses member Aaron Teegarden was killed in a car accident. Although nothing was ever made official, rumors circulated the campus that there was more to his death than was ever made public. His little brother joining the Graves and Roses quelled rumors momentarily, but Aaron's devastated girlfriend, ex-campus sweetheart, doesn't seem to sleep anymore and his best friend, a journalism major, keeps digging and not too quietly.

Across campus, at the Sigma Pi Fraternity House, a freshman scholarship student named Anna Tate was found naked and unconscious after a raucous social mixer. Supposedly, she reported to the police that the fraternity president and three of the high ranking members had raped her. It would have been a matter of he said, she said if not for her blood work revealing an incriminating mixture of drugs. Strangely, a week later all charges were dropped. Did old money change hands?

The idea of class action needs redefining when one considers the rumors that a tenured professor has had indiscretions with more than one of his nubile Freshman students. No one ever seems to give the incoming Freshmen a word of warning. Tenure, after all, means untouchable.

Silence is golden in and out of the classroom. The Graves and Roses are so quiet members are hard to identify beyond the obviously wealthy suspects. The fraternities and sororities know how to draw ranks faster than a military formation. There's no such thing as free press either with the University newspaper having faculty on staff. Rumors, gossip, and, of course, overheard whispers are the most reliable forms of truth.

Believe the campus myths if you choose to or else take Monroe at face value, the playground of the privileged where bright young things party, study and above all, cause scandal.

Welcome to the Steampunk world of Legend Makers.

The former King was lately found to have died of natural causes at the age of 35. Predicted cause of death was heart failure. Unknown to most, the result of his kingship's death was from a large quantity of Foxglove in his soup, which in small doses is classed as a drug used to aid those with weak hearts, yet large doses can prove fatal.

Following the death of the King, his child Alexander the III has taken up the role of monarch at the young age of 7 years old. Due to his age and inexperience, the Church has offered their services in helping run the Kingdom temporally until his 16th birthday when he can take his rightful position in the political world, seeing as his knowledge of the political world and faith will be up to acceptable standards.

Unknown to the public, the Church has lead the continent for the past 100 years by pulling such stunts similar to this one:

Monarchs have been used as political puppets, to be used when useful and discarded when posing a threat, much like the former king Alfred the IV. His Rule was cut shot due to a few outcries on his half against the Churches current place in the political world, (unaware, every decision he ever took as King was moulded by the Churches very hands). This lead to a momentary laps in the peoples respect for the Church. The Puppets strings were quickly cut away, opening a position for a new monarch, a new face for the church to hide there scheming behind.

I'd like to offer up my site The Fated for consideration. It's brand spanking new. It is based on a tv show, but you do not need to know anything about the show or the canons to join and enjoy yourself. I hope you'll take a look around ^ ^

We all go about our business in life, interacting only with those we’re forced into contact with. The same pattern persists every day, unchanging, monotonous. But what if fate intervened? Sometimes in life, things happen for no logical reason. There are inexplicable events that change our path in huge ways, and more importantly, change who we are as people.

We were all just strangers, trying to get by; headed onto a plane to fulfill whatever was the next tiny stitch in the pattern of our lives. None of us knew each other, at least, not in a personal way. We might have seen each other here and there, in the airport, on the streets, never really committing faces to memory. We meant nothing to each other then, because we had no reason to interact. No one else on that plane was a part of life, except for those we were traveling with, and so up until that point we didn’t matter to each other. Our conversations were nothing but white noise to pass the time until we landed at our destination, at which time we’d probably never speak or see each other again. At least, that was what we expected. But what really happened changed our perspective entirely.

We never made it back to Los Angeles. Instead, our plane plummeted from the sky practically before we knew what was happening. We became stranded on an island that we could make neither heads nor tails of, with no contact to the outside world and rapidly dissolving hopes for rescue. But we weren’t the only ones stuck on that island. There were others like us, stranded there, just wanting to get home. And then there was a group of people we didn’t even know existed for a while, who had a completely different agenda.

But regardless of what we would face on that island, the question remained: why were we there? Some said that it was mere coincidence, but others aren’t so sure. Because some of us believe that there is a greater motivator than coincidence. There we were, a plane full of strangers who knew nothing about one another. But now, we live together, survive together. We have been drawn together by a force that plays the greatest hand in directing our lives. We are the Fated.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Fated is a semi-canon roleplay based on the television show Lost. The canon characters will be available for use, as well as original characters. However, we will differ from the show in that our plot on the island will not be the same. There will be no separate tail and fuselage sections. There will also be another group of castaways on the island that were there before the crash of Flight 815. Everyone is free to reinvent the story of their character on the island and how they interact and survive there.
2013.
What an unlucky number.
    "My name? Oh... it's not really safe to say now, is it? Sorry. But it's best to stay anonymous
    when you're talking about things like this; particularly as my house was broken into last week.
    I'm not feeling sorry for myself, not by far; it happened to my friend too. The crime rate started
    to shoot up here in London in about 2010 and it just kept going. The authorities can't really
    handle it. Why don't we move? Because it's the same everywhere else; London just happens to
    be where I stay. So many people are mugged near me now and there was even a murder only
    five minutes from where I stay. It's unsafe and I can't even let my kids out of the house. I mean,
    there was once a time where I could stroll down the street without clutching my kids' hands and
    holding my handbag tight to my chest in case someone should try and grab it."
Welcome to London.
Your own personal hell.
Everyone's own personal hell.
    Imagine crime shooting up to a ridiculous level. Imagine being
    afraid to walk down the street. Imagine the breaking of the law
    around you every day. Imagine the authorities losing control.
    Imagine the punk movement's utter dream and your worst nightmare.
    You my friend, are imagining 2013.
Watch out or you may end up with
BULLETS IN THE BACK.
Bullets In The Back is a hopefully successful attempt at a crime RPG
where crime actually does happen and the events actually are realistic
for the future but pretty horrific. The roleplay is advanced and we are
an originals only roleplay, believing in true freedom with characters.
We are R-rated so be sure you can handle violence. Hope to see you there!
Hey there, Ariana! If you're willing to help a new site get off the ground, then I have a great site for you. Looks Like Rain is a small-town roleplay, based in Minnesota. High School, College and Working Class characters are more than welcome! We'd love to have you there, but if it's not what you're looking for, then good luck on your search. :3
Perry, Minnesota.
Haven't heard of it? Well, that's no surprise. With a population of 11,000 people, it's hard to make itself known, especially in a state of Minnesota's size. Let me be the first to welcome you to Perry, Minnesota. One of many tiny towns in the state of 10,000 lakes.
Late on April 14, 1997, and EF4 tornado brought most of this small town to the ground. Large neighborhoods were destroyed, franchises were left barely standing, and trees were down everywhere, bringing power lines down with them. The tornado sirens in Perry were silent that night - it's still debated whether they were faulty or not. The only people who could've known were those sitting in front of their television sets at 2 A.M. After finally surveying the damage the next day, it was said that a total of twenty-two lives were taken. What happened in Perry that night was, and still is, considered the worst event that has taken place in the southern half of Minnesota in fifty years.
It's now Spring of 2008. It took years for Perry to completely rebuild itself: physically and mentally. Though many residents have chosen to forget the events that took place a little over a decade ago, many still have pangs of fear every time a storm cloud reaches the horizon. When one lives through the destruction of a storm of this magnitude, one doesn't move on easily. It could be decades more before any of the citizens in Perry relax during severe weather.
So, where do you stand? Are you a high school student whose family has lived in Perry their entire lives? Or perhaps you're an incoming college student from another state, with no knowledge of past events that strike fear into the hearts of many Perry citizens. Or maybe you're a mother of two, just trying to get by with what little your job will pay you, while still trying to convince yourself that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice.
Fear is in the eye of the beholder.
Have you looked towards the horizon?
I've heard that it looks like rain.
AND WHERE HELL IS, THERE MUST WE EVER BE
ALL PLACES SHALL BE HELL THAT IS NOT HEAVEN.
WHY THIS IS HELL! NOR AM I OUT OF IT!
SO, LET'S SAY YOU'VE JUST DIED. YOU KNOW YOU DID, YOU CAN REMEMBER THE BLOOD OR THE PAIN OR WELL, HOWEVER IT IS THAT YOU JUST SO HAPPENED TO HAVE KICKED THE BUCKET, BUT THE THING IS, THE AFTERLIFE DOESN'T LOOK ALL THAT DIFFERENT FROM, SAY, ANY INCREDIBLY SHITTY LITTLE TOWN IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. BEFORE YOU GO THINKING YOU'VE GOTTEN STUCK IN SOME SORT OF PURGATORY THOUGH, DON'T WORRY, BECAUSE YOU SEE THOSE CHEERFUL PEOPLE ALL DRESSED IN BLACK CLOAKS? THEY'RE HERE TO INFORM YOU THAT THIS ISN'T PURGATORY! IT'S HELL'S WAITING ROOM! HELL'S GOTTEN A LITTLE FULL AT THE MOMENT, AND WHEN GOD CREATED HELL, HE HADN'T ANTICIPATED US HUMANS BEING SO INCREDIBLY SELFISH, SO HE DIDN'T MAKE IT QUITE AS ROOMY AS HEAVEN. WELL, GOD, THE POWERS THAT BE, WHATEVER YOU FEEL LIKE BELIEVING IN RIGHT NOW, HE AND LUCIFER ARE WORKING ON IT FOR YOU, SO FOR NOW, YOU HAVE TO SIT AND CHILL. APPARENTLY MAKING PITS OF FIRE AND HIRING DEMONS OUT TO RIP THE FLESH FROM YOUR BONES IS A TOUGH GIG.
SO, YOU'VE GOT A COUPLE YEARS TO KILL IN HELL'S EQUIVALENT OF A WAITING ROOM. WHAT DO YOU DO? WELL, YOU COULD GET A JOB. CRAPSHOOT OF A PIZZA JOINT DOWN THE ROAD SEEMS TO BE HIRING. OR YOU COULD MILL ABOUT AIMLESSLY CONTINUING TO BE AS USELESS AS YOU WERE BACK ON EARTH. EITHER WAY, YOU'RE STUCK HERE WITH HUNDREDS OF OTHER MISFITS THAT JUST COULDN'T QUITE GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER.
---
THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE TOLD WHEN YOU GET TO BRUGES, LIMBO, ANYWAY. SOLEMN REAPER TYPES BRING ALL THE LOST SOULS IN ON CITY BUSES, TELL 'EM TO GIVE IT A COUPLE YEARS AND HELL WILL HAVE A NICE TOASTY SPOT OPEN, BUT UNTIL THEN, BE GRATEFUL THAT THEY'VE BEEN ALLOWED TO CHILL. PUN INTENDED. THING IS, BRUGES IS NOT HELL'S WAITING ROOM, IT'S A JOKE BETWEEN GOD AND LUCIFER. GOD DECIDED PURGATORY WAS TOO EASY, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PEOPLE KNEW THAT THEY WERE THERE JUST LONG ENOUGH TO PLAY NICE. SO HE REDECORATED WITH THE HELP OF LUCIFER, AND RENAMED PURGATORY BRUGES AFTER AN ENTERTAINING MOVIE THEY'D WATCHED TOGETHER ABOUT AN UNHAPPY HITMAN. BUT THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT. BRUGES WAS SET UP SO THAT GOD COULD SEE IF ANYONE REALLY WANTED TO CHANGE, WOULD THEY GIVE UP THEIR HUMANITY AND SIMPLY GORGE THEMSELVES ON ALCOHOL AND DRUGS, DROWN THEIR SORROWS AS IT WERE? OR WOULD THEY TRY TO SHAPE UP, EVEN IF THEY WERE TOLD ALL HOPE WAS LOST? IT WAS A BETTER WAY TO TELL THE USELESS FROM THE USEFUL.
ALONG WITH THAT, GOD SENT DOWN SOME ANGELS TO HELP TEMPT SOULS HIS WAY, WHILE LUCIFER SENT UP SOME LUCKY DEMONS TO DO THE SAME. IT'S A LONG RUNNING GAME WITH LUCIFER AND GOD, WHO CAN WIN OVER THE MOST SOULS TO THEIR PART OF THE SPECTRUM. LUCIFER USES COOKIES TO TEMPT, AND GOD... HE CHEATS. HE USES PRETTY WINGED ANGELS OF THE OPPOSITE SEX BEHIND LUCIFER'S BACK. COURSE, HE'S GOD, SO HE CAN DO WHAT HE WANTS, RIGHT?
---
SO WHAT WILL IT BE? TRADE REASON IN FOR MADNESS? OR DO YOU STILL HAVE THAT LAST LITTLE BIT OF HOPE LEFT IN THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD THAT MAYBE GOD HASN'T FORGOTTEN YOU? REMEMBER, GOD HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES. LUCIFER'S ALL ABOUT INSTANT GRATIFICATION AND ETERNAL DAMNATION. UP TO YOU.
'NO BRAVERY
LIFE SUCKS AND THEN YOU DIE. AND THEN IT STILL SUCKS.
A BS INTELLIGENCE PRODUCTION IN ASSOCIATION WITH BANG!BANG! PRODUCTIONS.
You mentioned 'historical', so may I offer Show the Colours? We're active, we've been open for two and a half months and it's in no danger of dropping dead any time soon. We welcome original characters as well as historical people and canon characters from most series set in the early nineteenth century, so your characters will fit right in. Here's the ad:
Welcome to the Napoleonic Wars. It is May 1809.
The Army: Five months ago, the British were driven from the Peninsula. They fought every step of the way, and their General was killed in battle. But now... now it is time to fight again. Not all the British left, however.
Sir Arthur Wellesley has recently arrived to take command of the small contingent left in Lisbon. Can he take them from defeat to victory?
The Navy: Five years ago, the British fleet defeated the French and Spanish in battle. They won a glorious victory at the cost of their Admiral's life. Britain gained control of the seas... or did she?
Rumours abound that the French are rebuilding their shattered fleet, ready to rise again. Will they succeed?
The French: The French are confident they can win. Their army is undefeated on land, save for minor skirmishes nine months ago. They are the best of the best. Their Emperor has returned to France, safe in the assurance that the British forces left pose no threat to his plans to take control of the entire Iberian Peninsula.
Soon, they will move south to strike at the Portuguese capital, knowing no one can stand in their way.
This is a world at war. From battles at sea to skirmishes on land to the secret fact-finding missions of spies of both sides, there is danger at every turn. There is friendship and camaraderie, too. But the clouds are gathering.
In the mists of time, long before Saetan was called to make his legend in the realms, wearing the darkest of jewels, the Black. Long before he used that power to rub the entire territory of Zuulman out of existence. Long before the coming of the most powerful witch to walk the realms. The dark weaving of Mother Night calls you from the comfort of the Darkness to bring you forth into a world of light and conflict.
In the glaring Light you see edges and differences that had no meaning in the Darkness, differences in race and social status, leading to conflict with ones self, your neighbors, sometimes all the world. You have been born into a world where violent emotions of hate, fear, jealousy and anger, especially anger, can erupt for the smallest offense.
You are Blood. Mother Night has given you more, a caste and the ability to wear a jewel. Your caste and jewel are yet more means to differentiate you from your peers and bring more hate, jealousy and delicious anger. Yes delicious anger, for your jewel can channel your anger into power, power to strike your enemies and power to frighten your friends. It is indiscriminate, cold, and dark, the darker the more powerful and frightening.
Simply by being Blood you are dangerous to all around you, everyone sensitive to the chill in the air that announces one of the Blood tapping into the dark depths of their jewel. It is the calm, cold, still moment before all that anger and dark power erupts upon the world in dark violence destroying all that are not protected by the power of an even darker jewel. There is no jewel darker than the Black. When Blood wearing Black go cold all you can do is summon your courage. There is no place you can run to, no one to whom you can pray. You have to summon the courage to take the anger that fuels the Black away, to lead the Blood gone cold from the killing edge.
It can't be all anger, hate and conflict that the Light offers, for Mother Night could not be so cruel to call you to a world so harsh as to offer only pain. The jewels gifted to the blood respond to, enhance and violently manifest all emotions not just the destructive ones. Blood will sing to Blood, jewels will sing to jewels, lords will sing to witches and Princes will sing to Queens, the darker the Blood and the jewels the more violent the passion and the more beautiful the song.
What will be your song? Will be a song of pain full of the wild notes of war, conflict and death? Will it be a song of celebration strong enough to stir the ancient hearts of the dragons still rumored to live in the realms, thanking them for the gifts they bestowed to the Blood? Will it be a song of sorrow, a keening howl or mournful dirge, deep and dark enough to blunt the edges and ease the anger? Will your song call to all the Blood of the ages resonant with a violent joyful power, transformative to all it touches and born from the deepest love?
Somewhere a weaver of dark webs calls the silken strands of joy, pain, sorrow and celebration left in your passing and the passing of all the Blood. Black strands of the darkest power fitted one to the other into the darkest web, forming the shape of a dream, and one day that dream will be made flesh, calling Witch to the realms.
Welcome into the world. Welcome to the Darkest Web.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Darkest Web is a mature, advanced role-playing board based off of Anne Bishop’s Black Jewel Trilogy. In a time of blood and tribulation, we are forging our own tales about the men and women that make up the Blood Race. Romance, war, and scandals fill up the pages of our book as we tell the stories of those that could become legends. The Darkest Web has been an active board for two years now, and we plan on being around for many more to come. We have wonderful administration team and very active players. We are always looking for new players and new ideas. We would love to have you.
SILENTville
drama ~ love ~ greed ~ envy ~ jealousy ~ war
ENTER
Silentville is a very diverse city.... always finding new things and even some old things as well. But everyone knows that no matter where you live there is going to be drama. Every city has it. There is the secret societies and yes there are a few here in Silentville, there are the cliques in highschool, the Soritories and Frats in the university, and so much more from gangs to family wars all still around. We just don't see them as easily as others do. But in the end most of us are willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the top or to get the guy or girl we always have been crushing on or to live in a life where things seem better. Well in Silentville almost everyone has some sort of drama going on. But the question is are you strong enough to make it through or not?
Hey!
Well, there are vampires, but they're crazy blood sucking fiends near the brink of extinction and guess what? We plan on keeping it that way. Otherwise we have...well a lot of races but almost all of them are STRICTLY canon from the show! We only accept adult characters because of the obvious reasons and the the subtly implied ones. As for our time setting, well it is a few years into the future, but since we're not focusing on the sci-fi aspect, we're not crazy concerned with how technology has advanced and have thus sort of left it alone. If the question comes up, we have answers but otherwise we'd rather focus on the drama of magickal politics! The community, which is crazy small at the moment (we opened just yesterday) is pretty friendly! Well, enough of that, here's the advert!!
It seems that whenever the world is finally spinning the way one desires it, something comes along and knocks it off course once again. For the Halliwell Sisters, the world had been spinning wonderfully for over twenty years. Their powers had become unmatched, even by the infamous King of Good Magick, and they alone had nearly purged the Underworld of magicks that were to be of a danger to their children. They each had three beautiful children to carry on the Warren blood and spread good magick. True these children held no special powers beyond that of their blood and they aren’t Charmed Ones or anything close, but they shouldn’t be counted out. They have something that the world has always been after. Something even good is after.
Great power flows through those pages and the rights to claim it is solely yours would give you rights to the entire magickal world, or at least that’s what one mislead boy thought. Wyatt Halliwell was supposed to become the King of Good Magick, and though he was well on his way, the Elders gave him three hoops to leap through. The First Task; prove to three whitelighters that he had a mastery over his powers. This was easy for the powerful young man to complete, and the first hoop had been leapt through with ease. The Second Task; reach the age of thirty, a point at which the Elders believed he would be ready to receive their blessing. The Third and Final Task; have something to which he could prove his greatness. In this, the Elders meant only that he needed to commit some great good deed or prove he was truly good. To him, it meant getting something of great power. Though Excalibur, the sword he was to wield, was eventually to be under his control, he lost the ability to use it around the age of fifteen. The reasoning is still unknown, though many believe a new guardian has been born. With no other options, he turned to the infamous Book of Shadows.
He approached his mother, the matriarch of the Halliwell Line, and asked for the book. She refused to give all its power to one Halliwell and leave the others without it. Upset, enraged and confused, Wyatt left the manor and was found by a rather...dark man. The Oracle told him that if he was to remove his mother and her sisters from the world, that he would become the Patriarch and could thus imbue himself with the Book. That night, Wyatt returned to the manor and confronted his mother once more, begging her for the book. Her refusal caused a rage to burn within him, but yet he couldn’t bring himself to do it. He couldn’t kill Piper Halliwell; he couldn’t kill his mother. However, someone could. The Oracle arrived behind Piper and stabbed her, managing to avoid her detection.
His aunts, having been guided by a premonition of Phoebe, arrived to see their sister dead and the two drew a rather obvious conclusion; Wyatt had killed her. Paige sent a bolt of electricity that resembled that of the Elders toward her nephew who blocked the blast with a shield. Consumed by his own magick and rage, the boy threw an energy ball at his more passive aunt only to find a familiar figure in his life blocking the shot; his father. Leo had charged in front of the energy ball and died saving one of his charges. Phoebe, who didn’t have her physical strength about her at this age, rushed for the book while calling out the name of her husband. Coop arrived with Henry (the two had been working on convincing Henry Jr. to ask a girl out) only to find their deaths awaiting them. Henry tried to take down the boy and did so, but a mortal can only do so much against a witch. A blast of energy threw Henry back, breaking his neck and leaving his body lifeless. Paige tossed another blast of electricity toward her darkening nephew as she rushed toward her husband’s lifeless body. Her hands rested over him as she tried to heal him, but no magick came. There was no way to return this dead mortal.
Phoebe called out for her sister to start the spell as Coop used his powers to stop the wicked man. The two Halliwell witches both knew what spell they’d be calling on; the one they had used years and years ago to destroy one of the greatest evils ever known. However, the Oracle had different plans. His athemae found another sheath and Coop fell to the floor, dying at the hands of a rather wicked creature. Though the sisters had started the spell, Wyatt managed to end their lives as they tried to finish the spell. Emotionally destroyed, afraid to hurt their nephew and confused, the Charmed Ones fell and Wyatt took a leap into darkness.
The magickal world is in shambles. Good and Evil have both suffered from this. Good magick no longer has a hero or a hope to turn to and Evil must suffer the burden of changing age old taboos about Warlocks and Demons. Killings have become a common thing as beings of darkness try to get enough power to challenge the Warlock King. Good beings are dying at a rate unseen in years and there’s little they can do without the infamous Charmed Ones running about. Mortals are still chugging along, but even they are starting to notice things are changing. The future is unclear and though we know that every hand will change the course of history, the hand that ends this chaos is still shrouded in darkness. It could be yours or that of your killer. Darkness is coming and the time of light has passed. Take a stance and get ready for a ride; no one is coming to save you this time.
