Title: Real Life Rp With Spot Open For Character Of Mine

Upsilamba - July 15, 2008 06:09 AM (GMT)
Genre: non-fantasy; any sort of real life situation that my character could fit into
Difficulty: any; I'll take a look at RPs after you post them and see if I would fit
Type(s) of Creature(s): humans
Preferred Rating: PG-13 or R.
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: I'm open to anything so long as I wouldn't drown in the number of other members.
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: roughly the present

Other Notes: I have a twenty-eight year old (though age is negotiable) English teacher/writer character that I'd like to find a place for. [Here] is her full bio from another site if you're interested. I'd like a site where there are/will be some other adult characters for her to interact/plot with, because I'll lose interest quickly if all she is doing is bumping into students randomly and exchanging small talk with them (if the site's just starting off, it's okay if that's what it's like at first, so long as other people join as adults sometime). The site doesn't have to be school related by any means (in fact, that's why I'm posting again instead of just working off of the post I made looking for a school RP); something in a city or any sort of place where characters could have jobs on their own is fine.

Ideally, the app would allow bullet points for personality and history, but that's not a requirement.

Dirty Little Secret !

At this moment, there are six billion, four hundred seventy million, eight hundred eighteen thousand, six hundred seventy one people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil.

Six billion people in the world, six billion souls, and sometimes…all you need is ONE.
Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has secrets, but what if just what if your mistake or secret was big enough to make you run and hide would you run? Leave behind the people you grew to love: friends, family, children, spouses, everyone in your life? Well, there’s a city in New Mexico that allows this… Albuquerque, perched right in the valley of the mountains in the middle of the desert. There’s tons of things here to start your new life. But be careful as the secret city grows bigger it’ll grow harder to keep your secret with newcomers from peoples hometowns come in, how long is your new life going to be a secret still.

Dirty Little Secret!

Ok, so I know this is real life, but there is an aspect of our game at aBT which is that 'everyone must be human' and 'normal' for the society to work. That is why there is conflict. There are other places on the board where NOBODY is normal.

I don't know how that affects you, but I think that with some TEENY modification, she would easily fit into our board. She could interact with other adults outside of the 'freak' area, and never even know it was there, if you so wanted.
If you're interested, let me know.

Link is in the sig.

Our characters range in age from about 18-40-something, so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting her to fit in. We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . You don't need to know a thing about the musical or the movie, since the characters are just characters, nothing more. We're grown up, decent writers, and friendly as can be. Have a look. The banner in my sig's the link.

You're living in America at the end of the millennia. . . and you're not alone.
Alphabet City
We're in the year 1996 and the colorful residents of the East Village in Manhattan are facing the issues which challenge poor Bohemian artists in the mid-90s. Drug abuse, HIV, prostitution, starvation, death, life, and love. However, they find that they aren't alone, friends are all around, and there is always coffee to be drunk, issues to be discussed, and art to be created, good and otherwise. Come join our cast of canon and original characters, featuring a strong sense of community and creativity and find that you're not alone either.
Other notes:Based on the Broadway musical RENT, set post-canon, though slightly AU to keep Angel alive. We have evolved and changed over the past two years from a fandom RP to a RL RP with some fandom characters.  We are lucky to have a great group of OCs who are keeping the plot moving and changing quickly, and we always welcome new writers and OCs with open arms.
We also have a brand new board!  It's pretty and blue and still has that new board smell!!  Come see.  It's pwetty!!!

    Paradise? I don't think so...
Sand, surf, and good looking people in bathing suits, what could be better? Sounds like paradise right? Well to the residents of Honolulu that isn't exactly true. I know what you're thinking...it's Hawaii, how can these people possibly complain? Well besides all the stress of school and working at the local shops and resorts they have to deal with the annoying tourists that just seem to keep coming and coming...

The locals are now having to share their private beaches, their culture, and much to their dismay the tourists are now going after the locals in general. The guys think they can have their way with the local girls, and the tourist ladies are now falling head over heels for the local surfer boys. The drama is just beginning, and by the looks of it, it is far from being over. So come now, pick a side, and start your journey
    beyond the beach?

If you're still searching, you could give us a try. ^^ We take all age characters. Canon and original. But we did just open... yesterday. So, it's a little quiet.

Yesterday I lost my closest friend
Yesterday I wanted time to end
I wonder if my heart will ever mend
I just let you slip away

It was the good old days that you now pass by. Those days where you were friends with everyone and they were all friends with you. Where it didn’t matter whether they had it bad or perfect, whether they had money or not, whether they lived life in the rich neighborhood or with the rest of the world. Because they were your friends, and you weren’t gonna leave them behind if you had any say in the matter.

Maybe I'll never see you smile again
Maybe you thought that it was all pretend;
All these words that I could never say
I just let them slip away

Then came High School. It’s those years where it’s all about what you wear and where you shopped. You left your real friends for the crowd that you best fit in. Didn’t matter who you wanted to be with, it was all about peer pressure. And if you didn’t fit in, you became a nobody. A wallflower with no friends at all. And there is no life without friends, right? Even if they get you into trouble more then you want to. They are your friends, right?

Why don't you hear me when I'm calling out to you
Why don't you listen when I try to make it through
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, you never know
Hold a little tighter

Of course, you could always try to get back together with them when college came, right? They’d want you back, because you were best friends in the good old days. But the damage was done. You became a somebody and they, a nobody. And in the times we live in now, it’s all about that. Who you grew up as resulted in what you’d become. And that’s what happened, right? You became what you were told to become. They became who they wanted to become.

Maybe one day when I can move along
Maybe someday when you can hear this song
You won't let it slip away

But, alas, here comes the real life. And there you are, stuck in the high end of the social status. Becoming something, sure, but not what you wanted to be. You could’ve been anything, but you chose to do what they told you to do. And now it’s too late to make a difference, because you missed your chance. It could’ve been fame, it could’ve been passion. But you missed out on it. Missed out on it all.

And I'd wish the sun would never come
It's 4 AM and you are gone
I hope you know you're letting go
It's 4 AM and I'm alone

Maybe one day things can change. Maybe you can be the one who makes a difference. Be the prep on the outside, but a true nerd on the inside and not be afraid to show it. Because that’s what will make all the difference. Being who you want to be, rather than what you’re told to be. It could be a revolution. But who’s going to start the domino effect when it’s all pressure and no fun? Here, when it’s 4 AM forever...

Your teacher would fit in very well, and if it's still not what you're after, then I wish you luck in your search. :3 The link is at the bottom of the ad.

Perry, Minnesota.

user posted image

Haven't heard of it? Well, that's no surprise. With a population of 11,000 people, it's hard to make itself known, especially in a state of Minnesota's size. Let me be the first to welcome you to Perry, Minnesota. One of many tiny towns in the state of 10,000 lakes.

Late on April 14, 1997, and EF4 tornado brought most of this small town to the ground. Large neighborhoods were destroyed, franchises were left barely standing, and trees were down everywhere, bringing power lines down with them. The tornado sirens in Perry were silent that night - it's still debated whether they were faulty or not. The only people who could've known were those sitting in front of their television sets at 2 A.M. After finally surveying the damage the next day, it was said that a total of twenty-two lives were taken. What happened in Perry that night was, and still is, considered the worst event that has taken place in the southern half of Minnesota in fifty years.

It's now Spring of 2008. It took years for Perry to completely rebuild itself: physically and mentally. Though many residents have chosen to forget the events that took place a little over a decade ago, many still have pangs of fear every time a storm cloud reaches the horizon. When one lives through the destruction of a storm of this magnitude, one doesn't move on easily. It could be decades more before any of the citizens in Perry relax during severe weather.

So, where do you stand? Are you a high school student whose family has lived in Perry their entire lives? Or perhaps you're an incoming college student from another state, with no knowledge of past events that strike fear into the hearts of many Perry citizens. Or maybe you're a mother of two, just trying to get by with what little your job will pay you, while still trying to convince yourself that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice.

Fear is in the eye of the beholder.

Have you looked towards the horizon?
I've heard that it looks like rain.

Plot
Chicago is very well known for a number of things. Among these things are poverty, gang activity, drug use, and murder. Of course it is also known for being one of the largest cities in the world, some tourist attractions, and jobs. It is very easy to fall into the wrong crowd. Despite all the poverty and gang activity, there is one group whom are never heard from.

This group is called Yakuza. The Yakuza is a branch of the Japanese Mob. Be careful of where you go, especially the ghetto areas, littered with graffiti, called "the hood". Murder, robberies, muggings... all near daily occurrences. Make sure you watch your back, and don't mouth off to the wrong person or you might just find yourself tucked away somewhere in a morgue in a body bag.

Chicago can be a very fun city, but it can also be very dangerous. Which side are you on?

2013.
What an unlucky number.

"My name? Oh... it's not really safe to say now, is it? Sorry. But it's best to stay anonymous
when you're talking about things like this; particularly as my house was broken into last week.
I'm not feeling sorry for myself, not by far; it happened to my friend too. The crime rate started
to shoot up here in London in about 2010 and it just kept going. The authorities can't really
handle it. Why don't we move? Because it's the same everywhere else; London just happens to
be where I stay. So many people are mugged near me now and there was even a murder only
five minutes from where I stay. It's unsafe and I can't even let my kids out of the house. I mean,
there was once a time where I could stroll down the street without clutching my kids' hands and
holding my handbag tight to my chest in case someone should try and grab it."
Welcome to London.
Your own personal hell.
Everyone's own personal hell.

Imagine crime shooting up to a ridiculous level. Imagine being
afraid to walk down the street. Imagine the breaking of the law
around you every day. Imagine the authorities losing control.
Imagine the punk movement's utter dream and your worst nightmare.
You my friend, are imagining 2013.
Watch out or you may end up with
BULLETS IN THE BACK.

Bullets In The Back is a hopefully successful attempt at a crime RPG
where crime actually does happen and the events actually are realistic
for the future but pretty horrific. The roleplay is advanced and we are
an originals only roleplay, believing in true freedom with characters.
We are R-rated so be sure you can handle violence. Hope to see you there!

Are you ready to join the elite?

THEY ARE THE GOLDEN AND THE CHOSEN

An acceptance letter has arrived to Monroe College an academic achievement and the key to a thousand doors, but maybe, just maybe a mixed blessing worth thinking over...

Situated in Northern California, just slightly inland from a long row of pristine beach land, lies one of the country's most prestigious universities: Monroe University. Founded by descendants of President James Monroe, the university has everything from its own private stretch of beach to world wide reputation for academic excellence. Monroe University is as elite and competitive as one might imagine it to be and stands among the most prestigious Ivy League Institutions.

On the surface, Monroe looks perfect: All the history of the East Coast Ivy League with the endless summers of West Coast paradise. Prestigious buildings, decorated professors, and the white sanded shores of Northern California sounds too good to be true, right?

THATS BECAUSE IT IS.

Delve a little further into the exclusive, glamorous world of Monroe and a trail of mystery emerges, centered around the elusive Graves and Roses, the most elite and powerful secret society on this particular coast. Everyone who's anyone is a member, but then again they'd never tell you. Freshmen are just dying to get in... literally.

Last year, tragedy struck Monroe when alleged Graves and Roses member Aaron Teegarden was killed in a car accident. Although nothing was ever made official, rumors circulated the campus that there was more to his death than was ever made public. His little brother joining the Graves and Roses quelled rumors momentarily, but Aaron's devastated girlfriend, ex-campus sweetheart, doesn't seem to sleep anymore and his best friend, a journalism major, keeps digging and not too quietly.

Across campus, at the Sigma Pi Fraternity House, a freshman scholarship student named Anna Tate was found naked and unconscious after a raucous social mixer. Supposedly, she reported to the police that the fraternity president and three of the high ranking members had raped her. It would have been a matter of he said, she said if not for her blood work revealing an incriminating mixture of drugs. Strangely, a week later all charges were dropped. Did old money change hands?

The idea of class action needs redefining when one considers the rumors that a tenured professor has had indiscretions with more than one of his nubile Freshman students. No one ever seems to give the incoming Freshmen a word of warning. Tenure, after all, means untouchable.

Silence is golden in and out of the classroom. The Graves and Roses are so quiet members are hard to identify beyond the obviously wealthy suspects. The fraternities and sororities know how to draw ranks faster than a military formation. There's no such thing as free press either with the University newspaper having faculty on staff. Rumors, gossip, and, of course, overheard whispers are the most reliable forms of truth.

Believe the campus myths if you choose to or else take Monroe at face value, the playground of the privileged where bright young things party, study and above all, cause scandal.

I love this RPG, I think it'd be a perfect fit for you as well. A no-app RPG with simple rules. The staff are friendly, the characters are adults and the site is beginner-friendly and has 17 members:

after the success of the real world, mtv has decided to do something new, something huge! so the producers got together, and soon one of the producers revealed that he had been cheating on his wife, and they were going through a divorce. this confession led to the new show. "that's a great idea! the show could be called tell me your secrets!" at first, no one really liked the idea, because it was too big, but soon everyone knew it was going to be a huge hit. the producers sent some people out to every state in the united states, and hold autions for the new show. soon, they found people, and the show was soon made. the show was set to be made in los angeles, were they built a huge mansion, and called it the secret chamber. they did give credit to the people working with harry potter for the name, of course. so, now, everyone's in this huge house. boys and girls. oh, my bad, men and women. they are in this huge house. there's going to be some fights and even some romance. but everyone in america is wanting these people to*tell me your secrets

Unsure if Little Jimmy is right for you?

A small town with about 8,000 good hard working Southern folk in it. Football Nights are like a religious holiday here. The girls pretty themselves up for a wild night of partying and sex every Tuesday and Thursday. When Monday rolls around, the kids are caught skipping to hang out at Montana’s or City Limits. Sometimes, the braver ones dare to go to McDowell’s Hole.

Twenty years ago, a program was re-introduced into Little Jimmy's perfect world. Honky Tonk Angels. An association where they took young high school students who had found themselves in trouble with the law and the harsher ways of life out of NYC into the country. There the students were placed with foster families for the year as they worked with the kids to straighten out their lives. The program still thrives today with the children of the original lifers and angels. Unfortunately much like the Little Rock, Arkansas disaster some of the folks in Little Jimmy aren't so...

Welcoming. The older families in town aren’t so welcoming towards the newcomers as some nasty words have been flying back and forth. It seems the town’s secrets of racism and prejudice seem to be leaking out at every turn. A team of low-end FBI agents has come to Little Jimmy in hopes of keeping the peace. However, can years of hatred and prejudice slip away like the wind? Or will relationships be tested and lines crossed?

Name of Board: Innocence Exposed
Link to Board: user posted image
Location of Mini Banner: In the news scroll box
Link to profile on the Board: Innocence
RPG Catagory: Alternative School or Boarding School
Contact Details: Through the profile listed above, or through “Exposed”

Activity: Highly active and long-running
Difficulty: Intermediate+
Rating: PG-13 - R
Types of Characters/Creatures allowed: Humans
Time of where the RP is set in: Present

Plot/Story:

The setting of this RPG is the school of Mount Horizon (located near Vancouver, Canada), which is a boarding-type of school for troubled teens. The premise of this RPG comes from a show by the name of Higher Ground, starring Hayden Christensen and A.J. Cook. Though the show only went on for a year, there are many fans still out there, that are growing each passing year with the increasing popularity of the show's star.

In this RPG, we attempt to re-create the feel of the show, with the emotional drama, love-lives, and everyday real-life problems that the kids on the show faced. Students at Horizon deal with issues such as:
  • Drug Abuse
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Verbal Abuse
  • Self-Mutilation
  • Eating Disorders
  • Neglect
  • Grief
  • Abandonment
  • Depression
  • Etc.
Of course, most of the characters on the site are originals (not canons from the show), and it's not required to have watched the show to join the site at all. We're just basically using the premise/location of the show and have converted it into an rpg, which has proven successful so far.

Stats:

The board's been up and running for almost three years now (the first site, Healing Waters, ran for over a year, and this continuation site has been running for well over a year and a half). We curently have around 120-150 some characters on our board, and it's always active, with 10-12 people usually on throughout the night. This rpg is almost like an online home to many, and we don't plan on leaving anytime soon. And, unlike most high school rpgs, this rpg can be at a comfortable and active pace; it's definitely not rush-rush or dead at any time.

Also, unlike most rpg boards, this one will not end within a months time only for a new one to spring up in its place. Due to the success of the board’s lifeline and the dedication of its members and advanced writers, please only join the site if you’re thinking of giving us a chance and staying with us if you like the place.

About the School:

Mount Horizon is basically located far away from the rest of civilization. The school is surrounded by a seemingly endless vast of forest and mountains, so it is quite secluded. There is a neighboring town close by, Agnes, where the locals live. Along with Horizon’s staff, there are also regular townies in the Agnes section of the board, so you can also just play a resident if you like. Also allowed are students, graduates, counselors, and just about any other type of (human) character you want to play.

As for the students, each one is placed into a group, and each group has two-three counselors who run it. The counselors may have one-on-one meetings with the kids in their group, hold group meetings or go out on a group hike (though it’s not required, and the last two don’t happen very frequently). Each group has their own cabins, for boys and girls respectively.

Other Notes:

There are only basic guidelines to follow; we aren’t uberly strict on the board, but we feel that we’re running it well enough to have lasted this long and still have many of our original members with us.

It is not required to have watched Higher Ground to become a member of the board, just read the rules and guidelines!

For security reasons, we've made our rpg only viewable to members; so you must register an account and wait for validation in order to view the board (which won't take very long at all~).

If things are a bit over-packed, or even slow, within the next few weeks -- we have been putting together the 4th Annual Awards for the site, but please come by and feel free to join at any time :)

welcome to the land of opportunity.
bayvale harbor, california.
It is early in the morning; several residents wake up with the scent of the crisp air blowing in from the Pacific Ocean. Some are so bold enough to run just as the sun peeks in from the East, and some even go to the beach for a quick swim or surf. As the morning progresses, the tree-lined streets see a deluge of commuters, headed to school or work. The sidewalks begin to see their first pedestrians, and the sun ascends even higher into the sky. The rays from the sun go uninterrupted, as there isn’t a cloud to be seen. The wind continues to blow from the Pacific, offering relief from the heat. As the day carries on, students are situated in school, adults heavily at work, and business goes on as usual. When the work and school hours are over, the city is alive with activity.

Welcome to Bayvale Harbor, California, a beautiful town located in Southern California, neatly situated outside of Los Angeles. About twenty-seven thousand people call this place home, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Complaints are generally unheard of – frankly because the residents don’t have that mentality. Perhaps the coveted appeal of the town is the attitude of the residents, the very ‘laid-back’ approach that most Southern Californians are branded with. With a beach practically in your back yard, a wonderful mix of jobs at your disposal, and virtually no crime, it’s no wonder why the residents are at ease. Consequently, the near-perfect conditions attract a variety of people.

Bayvale Harbor has been dubbed as a ‘land of opportunity.’ People from all walks of life have flocked to this area in hopes of a better life. Fueled by the prosperity around them, hopefuls coming from different walks of life have desired to acclimate into the kind of life that the other residents enjoy. Attaining that prosperity, however, is much easier said than done. With further investigation, some have figured out that not everyone played honest to get what they have. Nevertheless, they reach for their dreams, diligently working towards for that better life.

The struggle is real, and it’s not limited to the working class. High school students face the burden of molding their own future, and adults must cope with whatever adversity may come their way. Although Bayvale Harbor has been the place of their dreams, it doesn’t necessarily mean that its residents will escape reality. Even if the possible heartbreak of life has manifested itself on residents, they continue to pursue their dream - the American dream.
it eluded us then, but that’s no matter – to-morrow we will run faster, stretch our arms farther… and one fine morning – so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

SILENTville
drama ~ love ~ greed ~ envy ~ jealousy ~ war
. . .
ENTER

Silentville is a very diverse city.... always finding new things and even some old things as well. But everyone knows that no matter where you live there is going to be drama. Every city has it. There is the secret societies and yes there are a few here in Silentville, there are the cliques in highschool, the Soritories and Frats in the university, and so much more from gangs to family wars all still around. We just don't see them as easily as others do. But in the end most of us are willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the top or to get the guy or girl we always have been crushing on or to live in a life where things seem better. Well in Silentville almost everyone has some sort of drama going on. But the question is are you strong enough to make it through or not?

"You only get one life, so why not live it right?"

Las Marejadas is located right on the shore and is close to damn near no other cities, making it as close to a utopia as you can get in most places. It's got all the things a big city would have, but on a slightly smaller scale. Perfect waves, beautiful beaches, killer clubs, a combined elementary/middle school that has some of the best teachers in the state, a high school that is rumoured to be one of the new Ivy League gate ways (if you don't decide to go to the local college). Sounds pretty damn good I'd say.

Some people compare it to a miniature Los Angeles, just as busy, but a better kept secret . . . or it used to be secret.

As the schools begins getting more credibility, more parents are trying to use the city to give their kids a better future. The parents move out here to get away from the big city, or send their kids by themselves so they can try and shape up. But trouble can happen anywhere.

Kids are coming in from all over; Nevada, California, Texas, Michigan even New York and Maine, meaning tensions will rise as the backgrounds begin to clash. Preps will argue with the punks, and you know the born and bred city classes with duke it out with the good ol' country kids.

So can you survive the tension and keep out of trouble? Or will you join in and claim your status in the town? How will you make the most of what Las Marejadas has to offer?
