Title: Rp Suggestions?
Description: Looking for a RP board
White_Wolf - July 5, 2008 03:18 PM (GMT)
Genre: Fantasy, Supernatural, Animal-based or Marvel/DC/Dreamwave
Difficulty: Intermediate (I think)
Type(s) of Creature(s): Anything, but the more the better
Preferred Rating: at least PG-13
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Very active, preferably at least one post per day, but not too many members (no 150+ member boards please, I'd like to fit in without being forgotten in the crowd)
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Past, present or future (surprise me)
Other Notes:
What I'd like to see:
*active and friendly members and staff
*not too crowded (it can be new)
*a nice layout
*no proboards please, but if it's good I'll consider
*an interesting story/plot, sub-plots are welcome
*allowed to have original characters without being too restricted making them (I have nothing against canons, but I'm not good with canons so I prefer to stick with OCs)
*very open with OCs
*a lot of diversity (aka a lot of species/races (both humanoid and beast/animal alike))
*myths & legends, feel free to throw in prophecies and such (I like these a lot so the more the better)
What I wouldn't like to see:
*word minimums, I can live with them if necessary, but I don't want to be forced to write like 3000 words per post (I haven't gotten that far yet), but I don't want to see one-liners (I can't stress this enough)
*please keep celebrity claims away from me, I can deal with them, but I'd prefer not to (I don't know many celebrities (I'm willing to go to sites with celebrity claims if somebody will help me with it))
*flaming, spamming (outside of a spam topic), trolling (you know, the stuff a lot of people don't like)
*no Harry Potter!! I like the movies (still need to read books though), but no
*no Twilight-based RPs please (I know nothing about them, sorry)
*no RPs that require me to read/search for Lord-knows-what just to know what the hell is going on (don’t bother with these, unless you’re willing to explain everything to me)
P.S. Surprise me ^_^
Blue Bloods - July 5, 2008 03:33 PM (GMT)
I have two you might like. Check em out?
They are based on books but you
do not have to have read them. We give enough summaries, etc of the basics to that you'll find your way just fine! We have some really nice, welcoming members and staff so don't hesitate to stop in in the cbox to say hello.
Best of luck in your search!
What if one day you awoke but could not move? You tried to move, talk, smell, taste...but all in vein. There is only consciousness... and you are not alone. Suddenly your body moves, but it feels foreign, not of your will. You try to scream, but your lips are still. You can only exist, only watch from this prison as your life is lived by someone, something else... someone who was implanted and from which there is no escape.
Jagwaar - July 5, 2008 04:05 PM (GMT)
Feel free to have a look at my board. It's an X-Men AU where we twist canon characters around to make new versions of them. We allow OC's as well, though really, everyone is an OC because of the game premise, lol. If you're interested, great! If not, good luck with your game search.
And I'm more than happy to explain anything.
__________________________________________________________
http://metamorphosisanxmenau95368.yuku.com/Metamorphosis is a text-based play-by-post role-playing game for adults located on Yuku. The game takes place in an alternate X-Men/Marvel universe, featuring reinterpretations of canon characters. What if Logan was a woman? What if Marrow was in command of the X-Men? What if Magneto was Irish and a member of the IRA?
In the world of Metamorphosis, the existence of mutants has just been publicly acknowledged. Not everyone has met a mutant (that they are aware of) but it seems as if everyone has a friend who has a friend who says they know one. The general public is both curious and fearful. Mutants are usually secretive, not knowing how people will react to their genetic status.
Xavier's mansion is secretly the home of a small mutant paramilitary organization known as the X-Men. The X-Men are a highly trained covert strike force of men and women that protects mutants from violent persecution and battles anti-human mutants.
The Brotherhood of Mutants is led by Magneto under the legitimate guise of Magnus Enterprises. Erik Magnus is a powerful force in the business world. Magneto’s goal is nothing less than a new world order, a utopia where mutants rule and Homo sapiens serve, if they are allowed to exist at all. All those who are allied with him follow his vision.
The Hellfire Club is an exclusive private club for the very top layer of society, but rather well known to the public because of some high profile members. The legitimate, public side of the Hellfire Club is part country club, part athletic club, and part nightclub, but there is an illegitimate side as well, where just about anything goes.
Weapon X is a federally funded black ops agency publicly charged with the study of X-gene mutations and neutralizing dangerous mutants. In addition to a large research staff, mutant and human Agents staff the military division of the Program. Officially, they are a newly formed agency, but in actuality they have existed clandestinely for nearly three decades.
Metamorphosis has been going strong for more than four years. We offer exceptional writing, a gritty and interesting world to play in, and a laid back atmosphere. So pick one of your favorite canon characters, twist him or her into something different from their former selves, or create someone brand new and join us!

"Blood has always been the coin of our realm."~Dracula 2000
The Lord of Darkness, Dracula, rose from the dead once more in the year 2007 – and he rose with just one thing in mind. Revenge over the God who denied him death so long ago. Now, in 2008, the Dragulian Empire is for the first time truly expanding, and even more after both all of Africa and Australia submitted to the Vampire rule... and with the help of blood from a witch born with Dracula’s blood – Charlotte Heller, granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing – the Vampires are rising like never before, even able to have children, and walk in daylight. Dark Desires is inspired by the movie Dracula 2000 (but not the sequels), but also referring to many other myths about the greatest living vampire of all times. It is a good idea to have seen the movie, but not a requirement.
Join us in the new dark times, that are certainly increasing – be a part of the new world which our Lord of Darkness, and King of the Dragulian Empire, is trying to create. The threat that waited to be released, is out, and who knows if the Human kind is doomed or not? Who shall you be in this new world, if not a simple Human or one of the Vampires? Perhaps you’d be a Token, supporting the Vampires in their quest for perfection? Or maybe the opposite, a Slayer, trying to restore order in the lately chaotic world? Dark Desires contains a wide variety in characters, and is in general a very friendly community, welcoming even the more odd character types. There is much to see and explore, especially with the world coming close to a change it has not seen for centuries. If you long to know, then the only remaining question is not if, but when you will give in to your

Relatively new.
All DC characters welcome, granted that they stay in Gotham.
Originals and canons are both being accepted at the moment; ;D
----
Hey, clowns.
Welcome to Gotham City. Just do as I say, and I'll have you rolling around in laughter soon enough. But first, let's have a little chat.
Gotham, if you didn't already know, is a crime-ridden city with a police force that'll throw you behind bars faster than you can let out a giggle. And with that Harvey Dent up for D.A., the number of opportunities to tell [perhaps the better word, in our case, would be "demonstrate"] jokes has gone on an extreme Weight-Watchers routine. But don't worry. If you follow my instructions to a 't', the police won't be the ones pestering you. Our main kill-joy is a man named Bat and his little entourage of Chickenboy and Bratgirl. Once I get myself out of this place, you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll be putting a smile on Bat's face. Haha, don't you love the sound of the gargled scream or a person who's ripped their fresh Glasgow at the seams?
You're probably wondering where I am and what my deal is, but there's method to the madness. My current residence is the lovely Arkham Asylum in a five-star looney suite equipped with padded walls and a bullet-proof glass panel. They don't make me wear the complimentary white jacket anymore.
Now, contrary to what you're probably thinking right now, I'm not
going to need your help getting out. I'm going to be let
out. Impossible? Hardly. Just implausible, considering how the tables are turned against me. But trust me, kiddies, I could have escaped the jail cell that I previously called my home if I wanted to. Don't worry about how I'm going to get out. Everybody will know how I did it soon enough, and I want it to be a surprise.
What you're going to do for me now is await my arrival at Laff City. It's an old comedy venue that I've set us up in. It's a little small, but cozy. The dressing room is off limits, but please, help yourself to whatever other rooms you'd like. Oh, and I'd advise that you stay away from the grenades...Unless you have a wish of death-by-laughter. Ha ha!
If you don't already know where Laff City is, you're just not meant to be taking part in the execution of this joke. And unfortunately, if you're not behind it, then you're the target.
Be there, or miss out.
Elenlond - July 5, 2008 10:46 PM (GMT)
Elenlond might be worth checking out. We're a medieval fantasy Rp with a small group of members (the count is at 65 right now, but only a small handful of these members are active right now). We're rated PG-13 and we do have a word minimum, but it's set at 100 words to avoid one-liners and to make it so that almost anybody can join, which places us at an intermediate level, I believe. We are original fantasy, so you're free to create whatever sorts of characters you want, and are free to specify their race at will.
Elenlond...
A land of mystery, beauty, and power.
In recent times there has been some upheaval as those of the free lands - known as both the Scattered and the Middle Isles - begin to fear the power that the deities exercise over the two main continents, Esiria and Soare. Although no god has endeavoured to conquer the free isles, the people still fear. And there is talk that some have formed groups in Esiria and Soare in support of removing the deities, those who invaded their homeland.
The deities did not choose Elenlond, although they certainly named it. After their original homeland, Mianor, imploded on itself and the world began to devour its own entity, the gods gathered as many of their surviving citizens as they could, pushing them through the largest of the rifts that had begun to form in Mianor. There they travelled, weary from their travels, uncertain of their future.
This time was known as The Great Migration.
It lasted for many weeks - perhaps even months; few kept journals of their journey, and many perished along the way - but eventually, there was an end in sight. The people of the old land plunged into the new and it was named Elenlond. Once they were settled, the people could only breathe:
Our Celestial Haven.
Elenlond has been around for several years, although it recently underwent renovations. Although we sport 60+ members, we are looking for active, dedicated people who will join and help activity to blossom. Our members are friendly, chatty, and we love new people. So, if you're interested, by all means join! We'd love to have you.

Welcome to Myridia.
Welcome to a small, flourishing metropolis of diverse cultures and knowledge. Welcome to a country of fascinating characters, magic, and wonder. Welcome to a world so familiar, and yet so different. Myridia is a land pressed between two powerful empires. It is a land struggling to survive under the gaze of giants, but had persevered for decades. Its magically gifted population gives it a powerful edge, as well as its strategic geographical position.
But tides often change…
It is only a matter of time before one of the empires tries to take Myridia as just another prize in their war chest. It is only a matter of time before an empire brings blood and war to Myridia’s gates. This has caused tensions to stir uneasily amongst the proud people of Myridia. They begin to debate on their nation’s next move, with some calling out to submit to either of the greater territories.
Yet the pride of independence rings strong in many of the citizens; whether it be for tradition, for belief, or for pure ignorance.
But intrigue also churns within Myridia’s borders. With an active governance system in which political factions rule, the clashes within Myridia are often more fiery than those outside its borders. Everyone has a say, and political disagreement can often be dangerous, risky, and precarious. Factions fight for dominance, and the ever present guardianship of The Council looms silently.
A land built upon the ambitions, heartache, and passion of its people, Myridia is a place where the smallest of tales can have the most powerful of consequences.
In a land in which all factions have a say, a single voice might just make the difference.
Will it be yours?
Betrayal. Intrigue. Deception.
M.Y.R.I.D.I.ACome join us at Myridia! We’ve got an original, exciting plot going, and have many canon position still available-- although original characters are more than welcome. We are a vibrant, active community of role-players, and we’re a great place to indulge in smaller, more personalized character plots.
The Dabnor - July 6, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
Hi! I run a Batman Begins based RPG. We've been running for a while, but to be honest, we're still a pretty small board, so there's plenty of room to to shine. As we are based on BB, rather than general comics, we do keep things a little more down to earth, no powers and such, but we are open to characters from the wider DCU.
Clipsed - July 6, 2008 12:30 AM (GMT)
A few things to touch on before the actual ad bit.
- We only allow humans.
- We do have a word minimum, but it's reasonably low (300 words).
- We do have a celebrity claim system, however we also allow anime characters, random CG images, and for members to use no avatar at all.

200 years have passed since the immortals were sealed away. In the generations to follow, they exist only in tales to amuse the children of kingdoms such as Tortall. The country's capital, Corus, is filled with citizens from all walks of life, each living, from day to day, as well as they can manage - some more legally than others.
The palace is abuzz. Not only has one of the Conté princesses become betrothed, but her Carthaki fiancé has come to Corus – for all that the wedding is half a decade away. With him have come banquets, balls, a tournament, and scores of newcomers, from courtiers to slaves. Not all of the visitors, however, have arrived to wish the couple well; any good spy knows the best time to move in.
Too, mages bring bad news. Suggestions of a poor harvest come autumn leaves city residents unsure which would be worse: higher taxes in order to pay for food imports, or a winter starvation. With such uncertainty in the air, many have begun to turn to the Court of the Rogue for help – but at the moment, the Rogue isn’t the happiest of places, either.
Outwardly, the country is at peace. Inwardly, though, old prejudices die hard. While the war with the Yamani Islands has since ended, the Yamani who make their home in Corus still face residual bitterness, making a hard life even harder. Word of skirmishes along Tortall’s southern border reaching the streets has the potential to create another public enemy, Mithros slay any resident who suggests the true enemy might lie within the city’s walls.
In a place such as this, everything can change at a moment’s notice, and never shall any day be ordinary in CORUS

Mana4X2 - July 6, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
Heya White_Wolf,
We're a PG-13 rated over four year old X-Men based RPG, allowing original characters because we totally love to see what people come up with. We do like to see them with a celebrity face and are more than willing to help you find one. In fact, I personally have an unused persona section in my photobucket album for this very purpose.
We will help you to get up to date, and there are Thread Tracking forums to aid in finding out what's going on, or what's recently happened, as well as finding a thread to join unless wishing to start a new one. Oh, and our word minimum is 200 words, or, two decently sized paragraphs, and we have a word count code incorporated into the board to help you out with this too.
Anyways, check us out! Hope you like what you see.
Cheers,
Mana

A lot has happened over the course of time, strength and growth clearly seen, as a new school year will inevitably bring more of the usual danger a resident of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters often faces. It seriously doesn’t help that Magneto‘s decision to open a new school of his own has seen many new mutants drawn to the Master of Magnetism's ideals. The Brotherhood Superiorum continues to grow strong, however, it's about to become no longer a school. Erik Magnus Lensherr cannot continue to inculcate his anti human ideals into the next generation if he has to constantly be looking after the duties being Principle entails! No, it's time to simplify things so he can once again focus solely on the dream that mutants WILL one day reign supreme! Who really wants to take sides though? Who really cares about either of their ideals? If that sounds like you, then DME is where you belong. Mana4X2's own concept created faction, Damien-Myne Enterprises, stretches over several cities, with its main office in New York City. Your boss is Colin Damien Myne, AKA Boilmet, founder and owner of this Freelance faction;; he offers you great accommodation, excellent pay, and the freedom to do whatever you want… Cross him, though, and your life won’t be worth living! Boilmet will do whatever it takes to make sure nothing gets in the way of furthering his business… NOTHING, not even you. And then there is talk that the FoH is working on something to eradicate mutant kind. Will they succeed? Who knows, because only time will tell… ** Words of wisdom say, "Choose your associates carefully, yet choose them, for, there may come a time when your very survival will depend on it."

RoM meets all your requirements to a T, I'm happy to say. It's completely original freeform fantasy/medieval, so original characters are not only welcome, we don't even have canons.
Also, RoM is really, really active--many posts everyday, but IC and OOC. However, you won't be lost in the crowd. We're fortunate to have absolutely amazing members, who will be more than happy to get to know you and rp with you. But why not see for yourself? Stop by and say hi in the cbox, and hear how everyone responds.
Enter into a world divided.
With the fall of the Guilds, the Realm of Mystery descended into chaos, out of which rose two factions.
Noresh, place of life, preaches truth, justice, and honor.
Noctis, land of dark, tempts with the night’s honeyed poison.
Repelling and attracting, their dance is a delicate balance upon which the fate of the world rests. After all, there could not be night without day, or day without night . . .
. . . could there?
Yet now an even greater threat looms, and the two are caught in a shifty alliance that could fall apart with a single wrong move. Wanderers, unbound by pledges to either side, pursue their own agendas or seek to create their own power base. Others choose to unite with one of the two factions and test their worth from within. The promise to all beings has always been freewill, and the choice can be made only by you.
The Realm of Mystery is a freeform rpg where characters are the ones who create—or destroy—their world. Join Noctis, join Noresh, or set out on your own. Rise through the ranks or become the subtle shadow behind the throne. Throw havoc or negotiate peace—make friends or enemies—control magic or become a master of fighting—be a leader or a follower—blur the lines of reality to suit your needs. Create your character . . . . Create your destiny . . . . Create your world.
As an advanced roleplaying site, a "sample post" application is required to join. Once accepted, you will find active, supportive members who are helpful out of character and skilled roleplayers in character. Very few other sites are as long-running and creative as the Realm of Mystery, and nowhere else have individual members had the power to change and alter their world as they have on RoM. Join us, and learn the true meaning of magic.
Keira Blacktalon - July 12, 2008 04:59 AM (GMT)
Not sure it's what you're looking for, but SoN is an original modern horror board with all kinds of character options and few restrictions if any. It's player run and completely character oriented. Stop by and give us a peek.

» THESE HARBOR LIGHTS «?
IN A TURNSTILE, BACKWARDS WE FLY, LITTLE ONE, JUST A LITTLE WAY
You thought your life was boring. Dull. Normal. You live in Washington DC and you thought you're life was just a conglomeration of politics, bills, and gas prices. You thought that nothing extraordinary ever happened, that magic was dead, and that fantasy was something found in comic books and role playing games.
Well, you'd be wrong.
Welcome to the Harbor, a portal to another world. Another world, where magic reigns, where magical creatures roam free, and where a dark force is currently ruling. Euphrania, once ruled by two benevolent brothers, is now in ruins, a disagreement between the two sending their world into perpetual darkness. A man of non-royal blood now rules, creating dissent in the people and the very nature of Euphrania. His evil magic is too great to be reckoned with. The only hope for the people of Euphrania is to see a human of true royal blood on the throne once more, but where have they all gone? They've been scattered across Euphrania and the United States. These men and women of royal Euphranian blood are just like you and me, and most will live their life without ever knowing their true place. However, if found by the evil forces of Euphrania, these men and women will no doubt be disposed of... their only hope is to be found first by the good-natured people of Euphrania.
Of course, though, this is not even the beginning. This is the United States, so of course the government has to be involved.
The President has always known of Euphrania, and, since the creation of democracy within the Americas, each president has decided to keep the existence of the other world a secret. But these are different times. These are times of terrorists and murderers and thievery and rape. The current president has decided to create a faction, housed within the CIA, known as the Agency for the Betterment of US / Euphrania Relations, also called-- in a move of foreshadowing, perhaps?-- ABUSER. ABUSER is separated into several divisions, specializing in both research and reconnaissance. ABUSER's agents travel regularly to Euphrania.
But ABUSER is not, as its namesake would suggest, good.
The current President does not like Euphrania. Its existence threatens the very sanity of the world. And so, he has charged ABUSER with luring the people of Euphrania into a false relationship based on camaraderie and trade. When this is achieved, ABUSER will annihilate all of Euphrania, leaving nothing. No traces of the people, places, and magic that once existed. The good people of Euphrania already dislike these newcomers, considering ABUSER has decided to side with the Dark Lord in power for the time being. The Dark Lord has charged ABUSER with several jobs.
One: Destroy all who threaten his will.
Two: Destroy all of supposed royal blood.
Three: Using their technology, attempt to create a replica of a royal human in order to fully capture the throne or Euphrania.
ABUSER is, at the time, fully complying.
Where do you stand? Who are you? 'Cause, man, is this fantasy shit as real as ever, You better pick a side, before a side picks you.
Melissa - July 12, 2008 08:02 PM (GMT)
I would like to think that we have a friendly and active staff and players. We have both human, a type of elf, animals, and a races of humans with bat wings... While we are based off of a book, I would say that 90% of the information is on the board ready to go. Oh... we have a whole 'caste' that is devouted to prophecies. I hope you have what you are looking for.

In the mists of time, long before Saetan was called to make his legend in the realms, wearing the darkest of jewels, the Black. Long before he used that power to rub the entire territory of Zuulman out of existence. Long before the coming of the most powerful witch to walk the realms. The dark weaving of Mother Night calls you from the comfort of the Darkness to bring you forth into a world of light and conflict.
In the glaring Light you see edges and differences that had no meaning in the Darkness, differences in race and social status, leading to conflict with ones self, your neighbors, sometimes all the world. You have been born into a world where violent emotions of hate, fear, jealousy and anger, especially anger, can erupt for the smallest offense.
You are Blood. Mother Night has given you more, a caste and the ability to wear a jewel. Your caste and jewel are yet more means to differentiate you from your peers and bring more hate, jealousy and delicious anger. Yes delicious anger, for your jewel can channel your anger into power, power to strike your enemies and power to frighten your friends. It is indiscriminate, cold, and dark, the darker the more powerful and frightening.
Simply by being Blood you are dangerous to all around you, everyone sensitive to the chill in the air that announces one of the Blood tapping into the dark depths of their jewel. It is the calm, cold, still moment before all that anger and dark power erupts upon the world in dark violence destroying all that are not protected by the power of an even darker jewel. There is no jewel darker than the Black. When Blood wearing Black go cold all you can do is summon your courage. There is no place you can run to, no one to whom you can pray. You have to summon the courage to take the anger that fuels the Black away, to lead the Blood gone cold from the killing edge.
It can't be all anger, hate and conflict that the Light offers, for Mother Night could not be so cruel to call you to a world so harsh as to offer only pain. The jewels gifted to the blood respond to, enhance and violently manifest all emotions not just the destructive ones. Blood will sing to Blood, jewels will sing to jewels, lords will sing to witches and Princes will sing to Queens, the darker the Blood and the jewels the more violent the passion and the more beautiful the song.
What will be your song? Will be a song of pain full of the wild notes of war, conflict and death? Will it be a song of celebration strong enough to stir the ancient hearts of the dragons still rumored to live in the realms, thanking them for the gifts they bestowed to the Blood? Will it be a song of sorrow, a keening howl or mournful dirge, deep and dark enough to blunt the edges and ease the anger? Will your song call to all the Blood of the ages resonant with a violent joyful power, transformative to all it touches and born from the deepest love?
Somewhere a weaver of dark webs calls the silken strands of joy, pain, sorrow and celebration left in your passing and the passing of all the Blood. Black strands of the darkest power fitted one to the other into the darkest web, forming the shape of a dream, and one day that dream will be made flesh, calling Witch to the realms.
Welcome into the world. Welcome to the Darkest Web.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Darkest Web is a mature, advanced role-playing board based off of Anne Bishop’s Black Jewel Trilogy. In a time of blood and tribulation, we are forging our own tales about the men and women that make up the Blood Race. Romance, war, and scandals fill up the pages of our book as we tell the stories of those that could become legends. The Darkest Web has been an active board for two years now, and we plan on being around for many more to come. We have wonderful administration team and very active players. We are always looking for new players and new ideas. We would love to have you.

THEY ARE THE GOLDEN AND THE CHOSEN
An acceptance letter has arrived to Monroe College an academic achievement and the key to a thousand doors, but maybe, just maybe a mixed blessing worth thinking over...Situated in Northern California, just slightly inland from a long row of pristine beach land, lies one of the country's most prestigious universities: Monroe University. Founded by descendants of President James Monroe, the university has everything from its own private stretch of beach to world wide reputation for academic excellence. Monroe University is as elite and competitive as one might imagine it to be and stands among the most prestigious Ivy League Institutions.
On the surface, Monroe looks perfect: All the history of the East Coast Ivy League with the endless summers of West Coast paradise. Prestigious buildings, decorated professors, and the white sanded shores of Northern California sounds too good to be true, right?
THATS BECAUSE IT IS.
Delve a little further into the exclusive, glamorous world of Monroe and a trail of mystery emerges, centered around the elusive Graves and Roses, the most elite and powerful secret society on this particular coast. Everyone who's anyone is a member, but then again they'd never tell you. Freshmen are just dying to get in... literally.
Last year, tragedy struck Monroe when alleged Graves and Roses member Aaron Teegarden was killed in a car accident. Although nothing was ever made official, rumors circulated the campus that there was more to his death than was ever made public. His little brother joining the Graves and Roses quelled rumors momentarily, but Aaron's devastated girlfriend, ex-campus sweetheart, doesn't seem to sleep anymore and his best friend, a journalism major, keeps digging and not too quietly.
Across campus, at the Sigma Pi Fraternity House, a freshman scholarship student named Anna Tate was found naked and unconscious after a raucous social mixer. Supposedly, she reported to the police that the fraternity president and three of the high ranking members had raped her. It would have been a matter of he said, she said if not for her blood work revealing an incriminating mixture of drugs. Strangely, a week later all charges were dropped. Did old money change hands?
The idea of class action needs redefining when one considers the rumors that a tenured professor has had indiscretions with more than one of his nubile Freshman students. No one ever seems to give the incoming Freshmen a word of warning. Tenure, after all, means untouchable.
Silence is golden in and out of the classroom. The Graves and Roses are so quiet members are hard to identify beyond the obviously wealthy suspects. The fraternities and sororities know how to draw ranks faster than a military formation. There's no such thing as free press either with the University newspaper having faculty on staff. Rumors, gossip, and, of course, overheard whispers are the most reliable forms of truth.
Believe the campus myths if you choose to or else take Monroe at face value, the playground of the privileged where bright young things party, study and above all, cause scandal.

Wahoo! Ok, so our board fits your request pretty well. We're advanced-only though - there aren't word minimums, but quality is required (our application is just a writing sample, pasting a post from another board is perfect). So by 'advanced' we mean good depth to the writing, plus good spelling and grammar. No kids/spamming/one-liner ridiculousness.
We have a map, but beyond that the world is open to creation by our writers. So you can create whatever characters or creatures that you want (that fit in a medieval fantasy setting... no guns or robots or the like). The idea is that if people like you and your character you can play with them, and if they don't they can do something completely different in another story with other people.
Oh, and the board is new... I think we have about 10-12 active role players at the moment? Hopefully more coming soon :)
Here's my usual schpeel:
The Abydos Quest is an advanced free-form role playing board for
writers interested in cooperative fantasy storywriting. There is a short application (post a writing sample for review - something from another board is perfect). No word minimums, shops, canons, or restrictions - write the stories you want and make the characters you want. The provided fantasy 'world' is extremely large, so there's lots of space for you to be creative!
- Relatively new board, and small community
- Only advanced writers accepted. Core members average 700-1500 words/post or more, with good depth, detail, spelling, and grammar (less is fine, this is just an idea of what we're like).
- All stories are original - there are no set plots or cannons. A world with geography has been established for your use, you can create what you will within that.
- The setting is fantasy - medieval with magic, dragons, knights, etc. Other races/species ok as long as they incorporate into the setting.
- Most content is PG/PG-13, but there are no word filters.
- Friendly, active staff who know how to run an RP board.

Welcome to the Steampunk world of
Legend Makers.
The former King was lately found to have died of natural causes at the age of 35. Predicted cause of death was heart failure. Unknown to most, the result of his kingship's death was from a large quantity of Foxglove in his soup, which in small doses is classed as a drug used to aid those with weak hearts, yet large doses can prove fatal.
Following the death of the King, his child Alexander the III has taken up the role of monarch at the young age of 7 years old. Due to his age and inexperience, the Church has offered their services in helping run the Kingdom temporally until his 16th birthday when he can take his rightful position in the political world, seeing as his knowledge of the political world and faith will be up to acceptable standards.
Unknown to the public, the Church has lead the continent for the past 100 years by pulling such stunts similar to this one:
Monarchs have been used as political puppets, to be used when useful and discarded when posing a threat, much like the former king Alfred the IV. His Rule was cut shot due to a few outcries on his half against the Churches current place in the political world, (unaware, every decision he ever took as King was moulded by the Churches very hands). This lead to a momentary laps in the peoples respect for the Church. The Puppets strings were quickly cut away, opening a position for a new monarch, a new face for the church to hide there scheming behind.

Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Medieval setting.
Other Notes:
We have active and friendly members and staff, are not too crowded (we have a strong core membership and loads of floaters but always welcome new people). Our plot is unique, member contribute to the world plot and individuals a free to explore the world and explore their characters in it. We have a lot of diversity (a variety of species/races both humanoid and beast/animal alike - both generic and original to NR.) We have myths & legends, seers and prophecies, gods and goddesses. Each race has their gods and mythology, it really is a very original world.
We are flexible with word count, whatever you feel the reply requires is fine.
We don't have celeb face claims... not a fan of them myself. Board drama is dealt with away from the board, trolls are banned, and members of staff are disciplined if they break these kind of rules. We are fair and work hard to keep NR drama free OOC and a nice, friendly environment so creativity can flourish.
It may seem at first like you have to search through our vast wiki but we are willing to guide you through the world and love answering questions. Many people RP without knowing the world inside out, you only have to know as much as your character so the more ignorant you make them to easier you may find it. ;) We encourage people to explore the world through RP.

Angels is a futuristic anthromorphic ("furry") RPG story-line following the uneasy Reconstruction of a cold, technology ridden island city as it recovers from a terrible tragedy, and the quest of it's citizens as well as the infamous Hour Glass Guild to save it.
Murder, ferocity, love and power thrive in this freezing world where the strong battle relentlessly to defend those who cannot defend themselves.
---
Here's an excerpt from our story line:
A hundred years ago the dragon, St. Dwight Lucent, along with his partners worked to found the island and to make this city the most progressive existence for it's people sense Atlantis was lost.
The Gates, especially were his greatest invention, they are living things protecting the city from the worst of the elements, the terrible monsoon seasons and all outward forces that it considered a threat to their well being, thus St. Lucent has never once been sieged.
The citizens, despite having lived in their freezing wonderland for a full seven years were still ignorant to all the secrets the island possessed, as well as it's true name. Dwight Lucent himself was set to reveal all of these to the public until one day he vanished without a trace.
Names, in this world are of great importance and with it's name lost to wherever Dwight had been spirited, the island seemed to lash out at the people that it had once sheltered.
Lost without their idealistic leader the city fell to pandemonium, and suffered scars it still bares traces of today. Between families, hatred was born, out of poverty advanced organized crime rose up from the crevices and the Gates which had been built to serve the city closed completely on their own accord to all outside sources, leaving Trade ruined and evacuation impossible.
---
From St. Lucent's old partners, pilots every one, there formed a Guild to replace the law that had been so easily shaken out of balance, The Guild alone had access to Lucent's notes and taught themselves the secrets of the Gates. Forcing the Gates to open and welcome in resources, they gathered and trained followers striking out into the city and protecting those who needed protecting, crushing rebellion, putting out fires and restoring order to a city fallen to chaos.
The public recognized the Hour Glass Guild as their protectors and leaders and as the vestiges of chaos faded they began to call them their Angels, the Guardian Angels of St. Lucent.
Despite recovering the notes, the Hour Glass Guild could not find the island's true name and elected to create an appropriate stand in to appease the Gates until they could find it. Christening the city St. Lucent after their lost martyr the Hour Glass Guild ruled forcefully but fairly for twenty years.
But this did not last.
Recognizing that Lucent had always meant his city to be a democracy they appointed a council of peers to rule the judicial branch, and took it upon themselves to control the executive branch, becoming the one lawful, military force of St. Lucent.
The Angels disappear into their secrecy, wiping away their trail as they come and go. They became an elite job class only the most skilled and intelligent furres could hope to join.
---
The Angels have dwindled, but their standards remain the same, rigorous training, complete dedication, a ritual of sacrifice, a withdrawal from the outside world, and an identifying mark are among these. Angels must take apprentices, and as the older Angels die away new ones must be instated before the threat that the Gates have divined settles down on their city.
Though things have settled uneasily in St. Lucent over the last fifty years, a disquiet still lingers, racism for half breeds and pure breed furres (for the species can intermix, and they have discovered this) abounds. Fights between old clans and families rage, rebels pack together and discuss anarchy with low voices in the Eastern alleys. '
And the Council, as a response to the outcries have grown increasingly feirce, their force and infamy beginning to rival the Angels themselves, unlike them however, they have become corrupt and power hungry. The Gates, bitter, have been the cause of more and more accidents over the past three years, and people are beginning to talk.
With ridiculous laws being instated on a daily basis and the council shifting the publics' faith in the Gate's themselves, the coldest winter that they have yet to know descends on them and the search for the island's true name becomes not only a quest for the right to live here, but for their very survival.
