Title: Harry Potter? Other Fantasy? College?

essenceofire - July 4, 2008 05:35 PM (GMT)
Genre: Harry Potter, Fantasy...as in Angels and Demons or something, I'll look at almost anything. Regular College RPs would be interesting too.
Difficulty: Intermediate I guess, I want proper sentences, but I don't want to write too much for every single post.
Type(s) of Creature(s): Honestly I'm not too picky. As long as there is some form of Human I can play.
Preferred Rating: PG-13 and above, I don't mind RPing violence, sex, drugs...And I swear more than I should, unless if the character doesn't swear :)
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Honestly I don't mind new boards, too many members I'm not that fond of, unless if you're very newbie friendly (be honest!!)
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Marauder Era for HP(but will look at anything), Present or near-future for anything else.

Other Notes:
For HP I really really want to play Narcissa. If you have a Lucius already I'd probably join right away.

For anything else, I'm not really that hard to please.

Thanks in advance!! :)

We're a sixth-year Harry Potter. We recently opened in our new home after a six month break, but we ran for two years before at our old home.

>> A Turn Of Events <<

The night was cold and dark, yet there was no way out of taking part in the third task. Cedric Diggory had a bad feeling about this, which only grew as the task continued. He knew things couldn’t go too badly wrong, however, thanks to a potion he’d been given before he started - he thought it was just a strengthening solution. However, when the Dark Lord’s curse flew towards him, and he then awoke in the school several hours later, he realised it had converted ‘Avada Kedavra’ into living death… what on earth was going on?

One year later, the potion found its way into Sirius Black’s coffee on the morning of the Ministry battle. At the same moment as the ‘Avada Kedavra’ curse hit him, another bolt of light threw him backwards away from the veil. Mysteriously, he awoke in the main hall of the Ministry, alive and only slightly dazed. Where had this potion come from, and who was spreading it around?

Now, at the start of Harry’s sixth year, the Order are determined to get hold of the potion’s creator, as it could prove invaluable in the fight against Voldemort. However, with the creator unaware that his potion even works, this could prove a lot more difficult than it first appears. The Dark Lord knows about the potion and is also trying to get hold of it.

Who will find it?

Whose side are you on?

Hi, we may be worth looking at. We are an AU HP set about the time of Book 6 but with a plot where the Dark Lord's first rise to power was successful. So, it is a very dark setting and most of our members are adult, so the rating is definitely higher. Violence and all that is a daily given. We are geared equally to adults and student characters - we are as much based in wizarding society, if not more than at the school.

Narcissa is open and, while we don't yet have a Lucius we are on the look out. Since there was no family disgrace in our version of reality, the Malfoys are definitely a top-dog family. We have a Draco and Bellatrix as well as Sirius Black who is following the family business and still on the family tree.

So, I encourage you to take a look at us.

Everyone made mistakes, even he, Lord Voldemort, did. And, it had been a gross and, at times almost fatal mistake. The Seer's prophecy about the Potter boy had seemed so simple and straightforward and it had distracted Voldemort from the real threat to his rise to power. But, the truth was, there had been nothing special about the boy. Potter had never really been a real threat.

It should have been obvious. The real threat was and had always been Albus Dumbledore. It had been him that had denied Lord Voldemort the ability to return to Hogwarts those many years ago. It had been he that had hid the Potters. Dumbledore had been the one to put the protections on the Dursley house. If Dumbledore could be neutralized, surely any other hindrances could easily be handled.

The task was simple. Go back and eliminate the real threat before it could thwart him so readily in the years to follow. Eliminate the Dumbledore bloodline before it could meddle in the true fate of the wizarding world.

The world had been as it was when he'd retired that evening. But he went to sleep, trusting that the time turner had worked. The Death Eater had reached their destination and the mission would be completed successfull. When the Dark Lord had awoken the next day to a delightfully different world, he needed no reports to know that the mission had been successful. The Dumbledore's had been eliminated, their world had been claimed and no one seemed aware of this drastic change that had occurred to their world.

It was clear things had changed. England, and indeed the whole world, had woken to a whole new reality the next day. It was a world in which the Dark Lord’s Death Eaters had been in control since their first claim of power in the early 1970s. The muggle class served the superior wizarding class and the Dark Lord enjoyed supreme rule over Great Britain. With Grindelwald alive and in power in continental Europe, they were well on their way to a superior wizarding race.

Most people are unaware of the change in history and situation. For most of them, they just have the memories of the current version of history, those having overwritten any memories of an alternate reality. On occasion, small percentages of people may experience a strange flashback or dream or something else that hints that things may have been different. But, such flashbacks are fleeting and frequently written off as wishful thinking.

What is Fires At Midnight?

Our world takes place during the year 1997, when the main trio would be in their sixth year in the Harry Potter books of J.K. Rowling. In our world, in an attempt to secure his place of power, the Dark Lord sent one of his followers back in time to eliminate the Dumbledores before Albus and his siblings are born. In a world absent of Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald rises to power in continental Europe while, later, Lord Voldemort rises to power in England.

We welcome folks that are new to the HP world and RPGing in general. While the basic plot of this RP is based on the HP world, there have been many changes to the history, characters and Harry Potter universe. So, there is plenty of room for you to find your own storyline, even if you aren't caught up in the Harry Potter mania.

We're AU Potter, and non-canon. We accept characters other than human though -- vampires and werewolves, among others. Bridgerton aims for intermediate-advanced rp as well. Check our site out to see if it's what you're looking for ^__^

At the turn of the century, Bridgerton wasn't even on the map.
It wasn't world-renowned for its astounding size and lineup of overqualified teachers. In truth, it was just a man and his four students. But Bridgerton Magical Institute is proof that small steps are needed to reach that one, seemingly farfetched goal.

Taken over by Thomas Bridgerton, with his students Francesca St. Claire, Simon Thompson, William Sheffield, and Phillip Stirling, Bridgerton Magical Institute has grown over the decades, but its visions remain the same. It aims to hone wizards and witches’ magical capabilities to the fullest. Equipped with the best facilities and the best teachers, Bridgerton promises wizards and witches the best standards.
But it's tough, being a magic school in Hogwarts' backyard.
After all, how can a tiny, century-old little school compete with the one that housed the Boy Who Lived?

With the resignation of the headmaster who had been on the job for almost fifty years, Bridgerton Magical Institute had almost been pushed into obscurity. Its students? Alumni's children, whose parents have so much trust in its educational quality; those who had gone into hiding in search of someplace to stay without being found out; or simply Hogwarts rejects.

Can a new headmaster, his deputies, and the Bridgerton students keep their beloved school from dying?
Can't you see?

Everything's changing.

So come discover the magic.

@TurkFox: Thank you, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for.
@Tulojow Nagde: That sounds VERY interesting, I'm definitely going to check it out more, and probably will join.
@almostmoon.: Interesting, but I'm more interested in Canon.

Throughout history, in every civilization, there have been those who strive to be remembered. To live forever, in the minds and hearts of men. Or to simply live forever. Great and horrible deeds have been done, all in the name of eternity, immortality.

It has been 300 years since the fall of Voldemort, and though the future brings advancements in technology and magic, in policy and practice, some things never change. There are rumors of corruption within the Ministry, especially about Minister for Magic Quentin Abbey. Here and there, vocal Ministry critics are disappearing off the streets- coincidence? And of course a new year is beginning at Hogwarts, with feelings of apprehension from longtime Headmistress Neredia Dauntrye.

Our names will be revered. Our deeds will be remembered.

We refuse to be forgotten, lost to the winds of time.
We will raise our glasses together: a toast.

"To Life Everlasting."

Solstice takes place in the year 2012, fourteen years following the defeat of Lord Voldemort. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is much the same as ever. Students come and go, and role-players are encouraged to create their own individual story here at Solstice. Solstice Roleplay offers character chances to participate in classes, Quidditch, their own individual plots, as well as a site-wide plot.

The Wizarding World has settled into a comfortable new rhythm. Under the leadership of Minister Shacklebolt, the Magical community has rebuilt itself after the tragic battle at Hogwarts. With so many wizards lost, the reparation process has been long, and far from simple, but the Wizarding World is finally on its way back up.

A New Beginning.

The Solstice plot opens as a new Minister of Magic, Rudolph Biddle, takes office. The Wizarding World is still thriving in a period of peace, and the last thing on anyone’s mind is the rise of a new dark force. Common Questions about Hallows && Horcruxes.

Are we new?
No, we have reached our six-month mark, which puts us out of the infancy period and into the established site section.

Are we active?
Yes! We have over 250 active and fun members, and there is generally always someone on.

Are there still canons?
Yes. There are many, many canons still open despite the member count, as most like to play an original character. If your favorite canon is taken, feel free to challenge them. Don't know what that is? Keep on reading.

The Plot.

We are using the sixth book as canon and then making up the seventh year as we go, though we are including many elements from the seventh book into our main plot. Mini plots between members are not only encouraged but the norm.

Which are you looking for?

It is the last and final year, the year of trials and tribulations. Harry, Hermione, and Ron have returned to Hogwarts, though they and all their fellow students are wary about Voldemort and his growing power in and over the Wizarding world. They are doing all they can to prevent evil from taking over everything they have come to know, but life hangs in a delicate balance for everyone. The Trio searches for the Horcruxes, in hopes to destroy them all and thwart Voldemort that way, and for the Hallows, in hopes to conquer death.

However, Voldemort tracks Harry in hopes to find him and prevent the prophecy to come true, to use his soul to fuel himself and take over the world. Death Eaters are becoming a common sight, and more often than not, they exert their revenge on Muggles and Muggle born Wizards and Witches, though they have not taken to killing them in public... yet. Only a few casualties have been scored, so far.

Life will try to go on for those who aren't trying to prevent the end of the world from happening, but even the Muggles are bound to notice a change in the world, that things are growing darker, and colder. Will you fight when the time comes, and who will you stand by? Will you be a student, living your life at the school and watching as the war rages on, or will you be an adult, actively fighting on a side?

Hallows and Horcruxes, which are you looking for, and why?

The Goodies.

That's right! While we are a Harry Potter forum, we do try to give it a twist of our own flavor. We have actual, interactive Quidditch games that students can participate in. A fully functional system of points and monies, ranging from graphic and writing competitions to actual jobs and stores where items can be purchased and used.

Is the canon character you wanted to play taken? Come and challenge! We invite anyone who would like to try their hand at a character to do the very best for that character. Granted, the person currently playing that character has every right to defend themselves, but no one is considered 'off limits' from a challenge... not even staff members!

If you aren't in the way to play a canon character all the time but sometimes get the urge to play Hermione every now and again, partake of our Polyjuice Portum, where all rules and characters are thrown aside so you can write to your heart's content. Want to play out what would happen if it were Harry and Hermione getting together instead of Harry and Ginny? Go for it! Want to see how strange things would be if Voldemort was a girl? Go for it! We want you to play what you want. We also have a very special forum dedicated to accepted members only, where fun and exciting conversations occur all the time.

There is more, much more, but why spoil the surprise? Come and find out for yourself.

Hallows && Horcruxes

This was the first RPG I joined on forums. To this day I have not been able to join another Harry Potter board because none of them have quite compared to the plot and characters that I found her.

The game is just about to start up for it's third reincarnation. I invite you to check it out and join us because, seriously, I have always loved this game. The players are friendly, the plots are engaging, and the atmosphere itself is muse inspiring.

something is wrong, this is gonna shock them
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."

Severus Snape overheard the words of Seer Sybill Trelawney to Headmaster Albus Dumbledore and reported them to his master, Lord Voldemort. The Dark Lord brooded, plotted and planned, worrying over who this equal might be. We all know he chose Harry Potter, the half-blood soon of Lily and James Potter... but what ifhe'd picked the other option?

At the very stroke of midnight, beginning what would have been Neville Longbottom's 1st birthday, he was murdered in his room, his grandmother murdered just a room away. Poor Neville was lost, and the Order of the Phoenix wept as a whole that night at the loss.

It was only three years from then when Lord Voldemort seized the entire Ministry of Magic for himself and his followers, the Death Eaters. During a great battle at Hogwarts, he was believe to have killed Dumbledore, and he let the former order members and other witches and wizards live only when they swore their allegiance to him. Most of them did, though several did not and they and their families died. Voldemort was in control at last, and as he gained power, he mutated slowly, over time, into the snake-like creature he always was inside.

The Dark Lord did not want Muggleborns to be allowed into Hogwarts as students, but found another use for them. They were to be allowed into the castle, but more as slaves than students. They would serve as practically slaves to the other students at school. Muggleborn children were stolen from their Muggle families, and said families were cursed into believing they never had said child at all. The Muggleborn children were then only allowed to take classes about the simplest charms that would let them aid their more worthy 'masters'.

Years passed, and while all was dark and gloomy, the wizarding world was at peace.

At least, that is what the Dark Lord and his followers thought. Albus Dumbledore had not died in that battle at Hogwarts, but had escaped into hiding. In a secret location, he rebuilt his order of those still loyal to him. In the outside world, these members put on the facade of allegiance to Voldemort ,but in secret they became stronger. Also, in secret, another prophecy came forth, from the same Seer:

In 1996, Hogwarts is a dark, dreary place. Pure and half-blooded students are served by Muggleborns, who are treated as little more than slaves. Muggleborns are able to take classes such as charms and history of the dark arts, but no else. Still, some are able to make friends of kinder students (especially the children of the hiding order members), but open friendship with Muggleborns causes suspicion to arise.

On and on, this reckless abandon of what the Wizarding World once knew is dangerous. Few are starting to sense that something is wrong in the dark balance that has occurred, and several are secretly hopeful for an uprise. The eventual outcome could shock them all.

THEY ARE THE GOLDEN AND THE CHOSEN

An acceptance letter has arrived to Monroe College an academic achievement and the key to a thousand doors, but maybe, just maybe a mixed blessing worth thinking over...

Situated in Northern California, just slightly inland from a long row of pristine beach land, lies one of the country's most prestigious universities: Monroe University. Founded by descendants of President James Monroe, the university has everything from its own private stretch of beach to world wide reputation for academic excellence. Monroe University is as elite and competitive as one might imagine it to be and stands among the most prestigious Ivy League Institutions.

On the surface, Monroe looks perfect: All the history of the East Coast Ivy League with the endless summers of West Coast paradise. Prestigious buildings, decorated professors, and the white sanded shores of Northern California sounds too good to be true, right?

THATS BECAUSE IT IS.

Delve a little further into the exclusive, glamorous world of Monroe and a trail of mystery emerges, centered around the elusive Graves and Roses, the most elite and powerful secret society on this particular coast. Everyone who's anyone is a member, but then again they'd never tell you. Freshmen are just dying to get in... literally.

Last year, tragedy struck Monroe when alleged Graves and Roses member Aaron Teegarden was killed in a car accident. Although nothing was ever made official, rumors circulated the campus that there was more to his death than was ever made public. His little brother joining the Graves and Roses quelled rumors momentarily, but Aaron's devastated girlfriend, ex-campus sweetheart, doesn't seem to sleep anymore and his best friend, a journalism major, keeps digging and not too quietly.

Across campus, at the Sigma Pi Fraternity House, a freshman scholarship student named Anna Tate was found naked and unconscious after a raucous social mixer. Supposedly, she reported to the police that the fraternity president and three of the high ranking members had raped her. It would have been a matter of he said, she said if not for her blood work revealing an incriminating mixture of drugs. Strangely, a week later all charges were dropped. Did old money change hands?

The idea of class action needs redefining when one considers the rumors that a tenured professor has had indiscretions with more than one of his nubile Freshman students. No one ever seems to give the incoming Freshmen a word of warning. Tenure, after all, means untouchable.

Silence is golden in and out of the classroom. The Graves and Roses are so quiet members are hard to identify beyond the obviously wealthy suspects. The fraternities and sororities know how to draw ranks faster than a military formation. There's no such thing as free press either with the University newspaper having faculty on staff. Rumors, gossip, and, of course, overheard whispers are the most reliable forms of truth.

Believe the campus myths if you choose to or else take Monroe at face value, the playground of the privileged where bright young things party, study and above all, cause scandal.

I want to wake up
In a city that doesn’t sleep

Most people tend to tread around certain people in their neighbourhoods, not living too closely with each other. Other’s couldn’t give a damn and will live with whoever they have to for things to run smoothly.

In a city as big as New York, you can imagine how high the crime rates should be; but in one certain parts of the city, they seem to be lowering dramatically. Is that because of the amazing police work being carried out? Or are people just too afraid to report a crime nowadays?

Rumour has it that there are a few in this small part of Manhattan who live above the law; and have many members of the police along with other civil servants, prosecutors, judges, jurors on their payroll.

Not everyone takes too kindly to the cash handouts from these petty crooks, and choose to deliver the police work that they swore to in the very beginning. Once they swear to uphold to law by any means necessary, they tend to stick to it. However tempting the gifts from the lowlifes of this city may be, they keep out of it and do the work which is expected of them

These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it
New York, New York

The families of this place are what are keeping it together. Aside from the corruptness and crime in New York; these Detectives know that at the end of the day, they can go home and be with the people who actually appreciate what they are doing for their city.

The Second Chance

An age of darkness will come and go,
The people then will slowly grow,
The wise of the generation of the survivor
Will take her leave and turn back the hour.
Only she can fix the wrongs
Through the alliance of prongs.

Sighing heavily, the Headmaster lifted his head from his hands, looking at the crowd around him. A prophecy had just been delivered, one that could possibly change the entire world as they knew it… Blue eyes rested upon Professor McGonagall, a light smile coming to the man’s lips, “Professor… You know that it has to be her…It couldn’t be anyone else.” Minerva nodded. “The wisest of the generation of the survivor.” She agreed. “Minerva…Get Hermione.”

---

When a strange, new prophecy is brought to Dumbledore’s attention, it is clear what must be done. In an attempt to stop the war, Hermione Granger must be sent back in time to the Marauder’s Era to help the Marauders stop Voldemort. All of the Professors agreed that it had to be done, and with Hermione’s consent, they sent her on her way to the past with only a note from Dumbledore to Dumbledore. To save the world, Hermione will have to blend in with the other students, make friends with the Marauders, and keep her secrets to herself. Can she do it? Will Hermione be the second chance?

magicians rule london.
but the rise of a resistance might cut their rule short…

In a world much like our own, there has always been only one major difference: magic was, and is... present.

Throughout history, each great civilization has followed the same cycle: built up by all, taken over by magicians, brought down by the resistance, and then left to ruins. London, however, has had a different turn-out. It is the only magician-ruled society standing strong in present day, and by general appearances, it seems that this will never change. But then again, general appearances do lie...

Prague was once a great city, but, was too, ruled by magicians. Following the grand cycle of things, it was brought down by the resistance... and the years of peace that followed were quickly shattered by a new rise of civilization: London, ruled, again, by what the commoners despised: magicians. London, however, was not like Prague - it could not be quelled in one attempt. After many attacks, the resistance realized the perfectly obvious: they were not strong enough. They would have to gather, and train, and reconvene one day... and so they did. For three decades, London held an appearance of peace. But not for long. Peace, after all, never lasted.

And one day, the time to reconvene came. The resistance did what they had been planning to do for years: they attacked. On the same night, the Prime Minister, the 'King' of magicians, died, leaving his twenty-one year-old son to take his position. At the same time, in another country, the Emperor of the Egyptians was threatened by a strong, yet unknown force... and decided to travel to London with his family and a small group of trusted guards - under the guise of "trying to strengthen ties with his older allies." Mere hours later, the gypsies also arrived in London, unaware of the chaos that would soon ensue.

Now, it is summer. The days are longer, the nights are shorter. The merpeople are seen more frequently out of the waters of Europe. Their secret existence becomes ever more harder to hide.

On that fateful day, London's greatest tower and prison was breached. A quarter of criminals were released, on command of the resistance. The Prime Minister died. The Egyptian Embassy, following them the gypsies, arrived. London's government has only one option - to act like nothing happened. After all, with the gypsies' leaders now staying in their quarters... and with the Egyptian royalty lurking nearby... a secret is only a secret until it is told. Let the chaos ensue.

Nothing will stay pure for long. Nothing.

You thought your life was boring. Dull. Normal. You live in Washington DC and you thought you're life was just a conglomeration of politics, bills, and gas prices. You thought that nothing extraordinary ever happened, that magic was dead, and that fantasy was something found in comic books and role playing games.

Well, you'd be wrong.

Welcome to the Harbor, a portal to another world. Another world, where magic reigns, where magical creatures roam free, and where a dark force is currently ruling. Euphrania, once ruled by two benevolent brothers, is now in ruins, a disagreement between the two sending their world into perpetual darkness. A man of non-royal blood now rules, creating dissent in the people and the very nature of Euphrania. His evil magic is too great to be reckoned with. The only hope for the people of Euphrania is to see a human of true royal blood on the throne once more, but where have they all gone? They've been scattered across Euphrania and the United States. These men and women of royal Euphranian blood are just like you and me, and most will live their life without ever knowing their true place. However, if found by the evil forces of Euphrania, these men and women will no doubt be disposed of... their only hope is to be found first by the good-natured people of Euphrania.

Of course, though, this is not even the beginning. This is the United States, so of course the government has to be involved.

The President has always known of Euphrania, and, since the creation of democracy within the Americas, each president has decided to keep the existence of the other world a secret. But these are different times. These are times of terrorists and murderers and thievery and rape. The current president has decided to create a faction, housed within the CIA, known as the Agency for the Betterment of US / Euphrania Relations, also called-- in a move of foreshadowing, perhaps?-- ABUSER. ABUSER is separated into several divisions, specializing in both research and reconnaissance. ABUSER's agents travel regularly to Euphrania.

But ABUSER is not, as its namesake would suggest, good.

The current President does not like Euphrania. Its existence threatens the very sanity of the world. And so, he has charged ABUSER with luring the people of Euphrania into a false relationship based on camaraderie and trade. When this is achieved, ABUSER will annihilate all of Euphrania, leaving nothing. No traces of the people, places, and magic that once existed. The good people of Euphrania already dislike these newcomers, considering ABUSER has decided to side with the Dark Lord in power for the time being. The Dark Lord has charged ABUSER with several jobs.

One: Destroy all who threaten his will.

Two: Destroy all of supposed royal blood.

Three: Using their technology, attempt to create a replica of a royal human in order to fully capture the throne or Euphrania.

ABUSER is, at the time, fully complying.

Where do you stand? Who are you? 'Cause, man, is this fantasy shit as real as ever, You better pick a side, before a side picks you.
