Title: Looking For Love <3
Description: from you site-makers (:

skippymoo - July 4, 2008 09:01 AM (GMT)
Genre: Fantasy
Difficulty: Intermediate, I guess. I don't like baby sentences, but I'm not really that keen to write 3000 words by requirement. I have school for that.
Type(s) of Creature(s): Humanoids, such as humans, elves, dwarves and the like. I also like intelligent animals - the fantasy kind, like dragons, but not if they're the main characters of the board. Or maybe you have your own inventions - as long as there are some humans, and the other creatures are capable of emotions and communication.
Preferred Rating: PG-13 to Mature. Nothing explicit, unless it is limited.
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Reasonably active, but not crowded - roughly 10-40 members? Really, it depends more on how friendly and active the staff are.
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Not really - I'm keen on the past, present and/or future - just as long as its not a carbon copy of Earth.

Other Notes: I don't expect anyone to have exactly what I'm looking for - after all, beggars aren't choosers. So if you have any sites that fall roughly into what I'm looking for, that's cool - just as long as there aren't aliens, or something that is waaaay different than from what I asked.

There are some RPGs that I'm particularly interested in:
-I'm interested in Forgotten Realms based sites - I haven't really had the opportunity to play on one before, as they are always so hard to find.
-Something mind-blowing original, where the creator has thought outside-the-square. It could be in an original world, or even on Earth - just something that doesn't follow the usual fantasy rules and concepts.
-The whole 'searching for treasure' sort of appeals to me - whether it is just something you can do on your RPG or is a major part of the site plot. Again, if it has this kind of thing I don't really care if it is in your own world or on Earth.

SmathNa - July 4, 2008 04:15 PM (GMT)
We've got a war whose object is essentially getting gold--at least on one site--and a burgeoning guild of thieves...

But I think this bit of your ad is the place we really fit you:

We're quite similar to earth and quite different from the usual fantasy--instead of magic, we have hallucinogenic drugs. :p

We're very friendly and active, though slightly on the larger side (122 characters--not members, characters--a lot of our members play multiples). And by friendly and active, I mean we get 20-80 posts a day, and I (root admin) as well as most of my members, RP with every new person. :p

We're PG-13, R if labeled.

We ask only that you create a believable, well-drawn character, use decent grammar (you clearly can!), and meet our ten-sentence post minimum, which is quite easy, I think.

It is NOT a carbon copy of earth, but rather, takes certain aspect of earth and mashes them together. We also have a thoroughly unique culture, the Baskar--check them out, they're pretty cool--and room for the creation of more original 'countries.'

You seem like someone who would really do well on Thiasa, so why not check us out? If you have any questions (I'll be gone a lot of today, Fourth of July and all, but tomorrow--) feel free to PM or IM me.

Best of luck with your search, and here's our ad:

Knights and Barbarians, Shamans and Soldiers, Warriors and Priests, Ladies and Whores...

Not enough? We've got more--many of them dependent on your imagination. If you're creative, a good writer, and willing to try something new--this is the site for you.

So just sit back, buckle in, and Prepare for War...

The Baskar call the pale-faced strangers interlopers. They call themselves Thiasans. And they're out to crush the so-called barbarian opposition once and for all in what promises to be a long and bloody war. Barbarians? Just because their warlords marry their own sisters and they worship the sun as a God? The Baskar hardly think so. No, it's the Thiasans who must be conquered, with their castles and manor-houses, their arrogant King and brutal soldiers... their cannons and iron swords...

Come to think of it, the Baskar wouldn't mind getting ahold of some of those superior weapons... illegal arms traders, you say? It doesn't hurt that some of the Baskar are willing to trade a plant called datura--a potent hallucinogen--in return.

Then there's the plot to kidnap and sacrifice the Thiasan King to appease the Baskari Sungod...

...a prospective Queen so ugly she's thrown the country into an uproar...

...and no heir to be seen, apart from the weak and diffident Prince Fergus, the King's younger brother.

Let's face it, we're in trouble.

Welcome to Thiasa.

And for those who've read this much of the ad, some Site Trivia:

-We've won RPG-D's Forum of the Week award--a fairly big deal, apparently.
-We have an amazing new feature, auxiliary characters.
-We had 30 members within a week of opening, and we're still growing (we now have over 100).
-We encourage original characters, as long as they fit into our world.
-We also have so-called 'canon' characters, mostly ones connected to characters we're already playing, and generally very broadly described--often, we won't even assign them a specific age.
-We never require that you use a certain play-by.
-'Thiasa' comes from a Greek word. Ten points if you get the reference.
-Thiasan culture is based on Medieval Italy and France, and Baskari culture is based on the Sioux and the Aztec. Animal spirits and human sacrifice--where can you go wrong?
-A bored college student made up most of the site information. It took longer to compile the information on the Baskar than it took her to write a term paper on the philosophy of consciousness.
-Our cbox is unfiltered. That's right, you can curse in it.
-Come on, you know you want to join now.

MelioraAdmin - July 4, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
Oooh, Meliora would suit you perfectly, I think. :) It's not technically new (I've been at the site since 2005), but it was revamped in May when I took over management. We've got just over a dozen, very friendly members, and tons of opportunities to be creative and get involved. New site-wide plots are in the works, and we've got some partially pre-made characters up for grabs that have their own plots (mainly the royal family). Melly's definitely worth a look.

Unfortunately, I'll be gone on vacation next week without access to the internet. Since I'm the ring leader around there and my co-admin will also be away, new applications will not be reviewed or accepted until I return. You can still take a look around, register and post your application if you find that Meliora is the right place for you. There will just be a brief delay on the approval of your character if you choose to apply during my absence. I am leaving tomorrow (Saturday), but if you have any questions, feel free to PM me here or at the site if you have any questions. You can also seek the assistance of any of our members through the Cbox or our guest friendly Questions and Suggestions forum.

. . .There Are Many Paths to Tread. . .
In a land governed by royalty and divinity, how will you choose to live? Will you devote your life to your deity, serving them as a priest or priestess? Will you live independently, giving up the protection of the divine? Will you reside within one of the cities of the eight under the watchful eyes of the god you trust? Are you one of the extraordinary who can earn the right to share in the powers of the gods as a mage? There are many choices to be made, for in Meliora, all things are possible.

. . .The Power of the Eight. . .

Long ago there was a battle with the mighty Leviathon that changed Meliora forever. The greatest mages of this time joined their power to destroy the Leviathon, but paid a great price. They perished. Their power was lost, but the land was restored. Years later, individuals from across the land began displaying powers greater than those of the mages that restored Meliora. They became the eight deities of fire, water, earth, air, day, night, time and fate. Since then, some deities have come and gone, but the spirits of nature have chosen others to rise in their places. The Eight are the most powerful beings in Meliora. Your fate is in their hands.

. . . Nothing Lasts Forever. . .

Meliora has prospered for many years, but all good things must come to an end. The Leviathon proved that tragedy can strike when it is least expected. It is only a matter of time before peaceful Meliora is, once again, shaken to the core. Will you be the change you wish to see, or will you step back and watch as others control your destiny? Even the smallest person can change the course of the world. Every soul counts.

Join us and find your way. . .
Meliora

Elenlond - July 4, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
Elenlond might be worth checking out. We're a medieval fantasy Rp with 64 members, but only a small handful of them are active, so we're definitely looking for dedicated, active people. We allow all races, though I believe all of them are fairly humanoid at the moment. If you want to go treasure hunting, it's definitely a possibility. The forum is rated PG-13 with a word minimum set at 100 words. All of our staff and members are super friendly. =D

Elenlond...

A land of mystery, beauty, and power.

In recent times there has been some upheaval as those of the free lands - known as both the Scattered and the Middle Isles - begin to fear the power that the deities exercise over the two main continents, Esiria and Soare. Although no god has endeavoured to conquer the free isles, the people still fear. And there is talk that some have formed groups in Esiria and Soare in support of removing the deities, those who invaded their homeland.

The deities did not choose Elenlond, although they certainly named it. After their original homeland, Mianor, imploded on itself and the world began to devour its own entity, the gods gathered as many of their surviving citizens as they could, pushing them through the largest of the rifts that had begun to form in Mianor. There they travelled, weary from their travels, uncertain of their future.

This time was known as The Great Migration.

It lasted for many weeks - perhaps even months; few kept journals of their journey, and many perished along the way - but eventually, there was an end in sight. The people of the old land plunged into the new and it was named Elenlond. Once they were settled, the people could only breathe:

Our Celestial Haven.

Elenlond has been around for several years, although it recently underwent renovations. Although we sport 60+ members, we are looking for active, dedicated people who will join and help activity to blossom. Our members are friendly, chatty, and we love new people. So, if you're interested, by all means join! We'd love to have you.

Kitty5roses - July 5, 2008 11:49 AM (GMT)
a BJT(black jewels trilogy) site sounds right up your alley. The realms are inhabited by the Blood, animals( also named Kindred, includes races of unicorns, small dragons and a race of large cats named Arcerians) and humans (also some humanoids, such as centaurs and satrys) alike who are gifted with magical abilities under the understanding that they care for the land (not that they always do) The setting is a matriarchal society, with most things akin to before the industrial era. (as they had craft to replace the need for machines). We accept rpers of all levels, and my site Forever Night still only has a small but steady player base. No need to have read the books to play, as the admins are happy to answer all questions. (Though if you're into fantasy books i highly recommend them). Our Add is posted below.
***
Darkness, a pure abyss of nothing lies all around you. Silence deafens you as you fall, deeper and deeper into the darkness, the forever night stretching out around you. You continue to fall, deeper and deeper into the abyss of yourself, into the well of your power, until something catches you. A spreading white silken web stretching out beneath you cushioning your descent. Even as it catches you though you can feel the silken strands stretching and breaking beneath your weight until you fall through, knowing that the web that can sustain you lies deeper.

Can you dance the dance of the blood? Tangle with a Warlord Prince, a member of the blood who is as violent as he is passionate. Will you test your skill against the Black Widow, the poisonous witch who can see glimpses of the past, the future and the darkness that rules all? Will you serve as a Queen, watching over her territory and the people who call it home?

Can you learn to live with the Forever Night?

Forever Night is a relatively new site with enthusiastic players and many territory court positions are still open. We cater for RPers of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.

So come, join us, and let the blood sing to the blood, through the forever night.

Nocturnal Reverie may suit your taste. We're not your typical fantasy/medieval so I think in order to get a better understanding about us you'll have to browse around a bit. If you have any questions let me know. We're a very friendly group (although I am a little bias) so feel free to post on the c-box and chat. Hope to see you there.

To be turned into weapons, no more than slaves to the psionic lords.

    Welcome to Myridia.

Welcome to a small, flourishing metropolis of diverse cultures and knowledge. Welcome to a country of fascinating characters, magic, and wonder. Welcome to a world so familiar, and yet so different. Myridia is a land pressed between two powerful empires. It is a land struggling to survive under the gaze of giants, but had persevered for decades. Its magically gifted population gives it a powerful edge, as well as its strategic geographical position.

    But tides often change…

It is only a matter of time before one of the empires tries to take Myridia as just another prize in their war chest. It is only a matter of time before an empire brings blood and war to Myridia’s gates. This has caused tensions to stir uneasily amongst the proud people of Myridia. They begin to debate on their nation’s next move, with some calling out to submit to either of the greater territories.

Yet the pride of independence rings strong in many of the citizens; whether it be for tradition, for belief, or for pure ignorance.

But intrigue also churns within Myridia’s borders. With an active governance system in which political factions rule, the clashes within Myridia are often more fiery than those outside its borders. Everyone has a say, and political disagreement can often be dangerous, risky, and precarious. Factions fight for dominance, and the ever present guardianship of The Council looms silently.

A land built upon the ambitions, heartache, and passion of its people, Myridia is a place where the smallest of tales can have the most powerful of consequences.

In a land in which all factions have a say, a single voice might just make the difference.

    Will it be yours?
Betrayal. Intrigue. Deception.
M.Y.R.I.D.I.A

Come join us at Myridia! We’ve got an original, exciting plot going, and have many canon position still available-- although original characters are more than welcome. We are a vibrant, active community of role-players, and we’re a great place to indulge in smaller, more personalized character plots.

RoM is a completely original, freeform site, so you can more or less do what you want. Although it is labeled as advanced, I don't know if there's even a word minimum--if there is, though, then it's largely ignored; you're not expected to count your words, just to have quality writing.

And while we do have more than 40 people, you won't become lost in the shuffle, I promise you. All the staff and all the members are really, really friendly and welcoming; I think that we're exceptionally lucky in that. Just stop by and say hi in the c-box and see for yourself!

Fantasy is Reality . . .

Enter into a world divided.

With the fall of the Guilds, the Realm of Mystery descended into chaos, out of which rose two factions.

Noresh, place of life, preaches truth, justice, and honor.
Noctis, land of dark, tempts with the night’s honeyed poison.

Repelling and attracting, their dance is a delicate balance upon which the fate of the world rests. After all, there could not be night without day, or day without night . . .
. . . could there?

Yet now an even greater threat looms, and the two are caught in a shifty alliance that could fall apart with a single wrong move. Wanderers, unbound by pledges to either side, pursue their own agendas or seek to create their own power base. Others choose to unite with one of the two factions and test their worth from within. The promise to all beings has always been freewill, and the choice can be made only by you.

The Realm of Mystery is a freeform rpg where characters are the ones who create—or destroy—their world. Join Noctis, join Noresh, or set out on your own. Rise through the ranks or become the subtle shadow behind the throne. Throw havoc or negotiate peace—make friends or enemies—control magic or become a master of fighting—be a leader or a follower—blur the lines of reality to suit your needs. Create your character . . . . Create your destiny . . . . Create your world.

As an advanced roleplaying site, a "sample post" application is required to join. Once accepted, you will find active, supportive members who are helpful out of character and skilled roleplayers in character. Very few other sites are as long-running and creative as the Realm of Mystery, and nowhere else have individual members had the power to change and alter their world as they have on RoM. Join us, and learn the true meaning of magic.

*NR Staff* - July 9, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)

Try TNR: http://www.thenetherrealm.com/forum/

Genre: We are an original fantasy RPG in a medieval setting.

Races: Take your pick. We have original and generic fantasy, humes/humanoid, everything you expect from a fantasy RPG and more.

Difficulty: We cater for all levels but our writers tend to be inter-advanced. The staff are all over 21 and the membership varies from 14-40. Our younger members are very mature.

Other Notes:

We are mega active, friendly and have a wiki!

We have also been open for almost two years and have 20,000 posts (nearly).

NR is fantasy with a twist, its mythology is original, the world well thought out and well organised in the wiki, and the RP's varied and of a great standard. Members can add to the world and we have rare artifacts and treasure hunters, one RP is a quest RP actually, and there are others that revolve around other treasures too. ;)

Living life in a shroud of secrets isn’t easy. Especially when the biggest secret you’ve got is that you have magickal powers and a war between good and evil is a never ending conflict between witches and demons.

In the massive city of Chicago there’s a life out there that very few can even start to imagine; a life full of potions, spells, and magick that an everyday person can’t see, or chooses to ignore. With a battle like this raging in our streets how can we possible live regular lives? No one expects anyone to be normal, but this abnormality is a wonder in itself.

Now in the height of magical growth and in the infancy of this new millennium there is a new generation of witches, warlocks, demons, white lighters, dark lighters, and cupids. Sure most of them are trying to just get by but many are trying to change the world; for the better or even for the worse.

Chicago is a jungle, a war zone of traffic, pollution, culture, and art, but this… this city is where magick is our reality.
