Title: Looking For A New Game

Jagwaar - July 4, 2008 12:01 AM (GMT)
Genre: I prefer X-Men or superhero games, though I’m more than willing to look at others. No celebrity, musicals, or real life based games, please. This is escapism. I’m afraid I don’t know the Potterverse well enough to play.
Difficulty: Advanced please.
Type(s) of Creature(s): I’m open here.
Preferred Rating: R and NC-17
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Any number of members, moderate to heavy, consistent , activity.
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Any

Other Notes:

So, though I run my own game and still play there regularly, my other game has just up and closed after a mere three months. Now I’m looking for another to take its place. I would prefer a good, advanced X-Men game, preferably where I can play an interpreted version of Callisto (as that’s the character I lost with the game closing), but I’ll look at other fandoms. I have favorite characters like everyone, but it’s more about the game and the writing being good then me getting to play my faves. Don’t be afraid to direct me to your board. You never know – it just might be exactly what I’m looking for.

I should say that I prefer to play three dimensional, well-rounded villains (though I can do good guys too). Evil is, after all, merely a point of view. Good guys can be villains, and villains can be heroes under the right circumstances. I love the ultraviolence, and I won’t back away from sensuality and sex scenes, though that’s certainly not all I write; so I need a game with an open rating, from G to NC-17. I’m an older writer, so I’m more interested in exploring adult themes and situations. I set goals for my characters, and work to achieve them in gameplay. I really don’t play kids or teenagers, sorry (though I’ve done 19). That time of my own life was hard enough, thanks; I don’t want to relive it, lol. The game doesn’t have to be big, or active on a daily basis, but I hate waiting weeks for posts (and I won’t do it to other players without a serious real life excuse). I prefer longer posts, three paragraphs or so – one-liners don’t do it for me – and co-writing is great too. I prefer to write with other adults, and I absolutely will not write smut with anyone under eighteen. And plot is an absolute must. I also hate boards where only the mod characters get things to do. Seriously, spread the love.

If you want to see samples of my writing, you can go here:
http://metamorphosisanxmenau95368.yuku.com/ (Logan, Gambit, Marrow, Magneto, Forge, Stacy X and mod NPC's) or here:
http://umbruminfernus.yuku.com/ (Callisto, Forge, Fenris, Gambit, Xavier)

Anyhoo … that’s me. Whatcha got? I'm looking forward to looking at your boards.

Hm...I think you might like this site...it has loads of canons still avaible...including our dear Callisto! xD It has both marvel and DC heroes. Good luck with your search!

When the world watches as evil begins to rise there is no hope. The heroes they thought were once their saviors are now viewed as lifeless and weak. What can the world turn to when superheroes are not enough to battle the forces that drive many into hiding and fear? The government has decided to take control of the founding defenses in America as well as the rest of the world with the help of the World Nations. This is unfortunate news for every community that has always had something gifted about them. Superheroes and villains alike are affected. Two new acts of registration, the Mutant Registration Act and the Superhero Registration Act has given reason for many to flee in terror of the government's ruling, changing their faces and lives to something other than super.

Around the world there are still countries that many can go to that are considered safe from the prejudice that is sweeping the globe. Superheroes are no longer seen around as much and if they are kill orders are issued to deal with them. Criminals of all varieties, from the dastardly to the highly malicious are kept under close surveillance, with many having their own files in the computer networks of the world authorities.

The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, or S.H.I.E.L.D. has met its own tragedy; though only at secret. Obadiah Stane, one of the many enemies that Tony Stark of Stark, Industries faces nearly on a regular basis, has managed to gain control of the foundation of S.H.I.E.L.D. With the help of a secret liaison and scientist, Obadiah has nearly all members of the division under his control through thought alone. A few still stand as independent though play along to hide what they know and that they are capable of rational and intelligent thought. They are still holding on to their free will, but that may not last long.

Stark Industries, once a powerful weapons and environmental manufacturer has been shut down thanks to a Weapons Manufacturing Embargo placed upon the weapons division by the government. Obadiah Stane, through a series of vast control and blackmail, has managed to take control of that particular division, building his own company, called Stane Enterprises, since Stark Industries was taken out of commission nearly three years before. Proudly he builds the greatest weapon the world has ever seen: the Sentinel.

The mutants of the X-Men and Brotherhood have finally come to terms with something that is bigger than either could fathom. Every superhero and even a few villains have found the reason to put aside their differences and moral standings and work as allies...at least for now. Any and all protest and fight for their right to live and save the world, much as they did in times past. Tony Stark, with the help of James Madrox of S.H.I.E.L.D., has decided to assemble some of the most upstanding members of the normal community as well as the hero community, in order to appeal for the bans to be lifted.

Without heroes...evil arises. Time is of the essence, as the forces of darkness grow stronger every day they are loose to roam. Indeed, something wicked this way comes...

Hey there! This is an X-Men AU site, that has recently opened. We still have a lot of canon's open, and will be opening up for OC's once the character site fleshes out a little bit. Feel free to take a look around, and PM Jean Grey-Summers or Jubilation Lee if you have any questions! :)

Canon List :: Overall Plot :: Advertise

18 years ago, a boy was born to one of the most powerful mutants in the world, and the leading doctor in genetics, Professor Charles Xavier and Dr. Moira McTaggert. David Charles McTaggert grew up with his mother on Muir Island while his father went back to New York to create what would later be known as Xavier's School for Gifted students.

As the boy grew, so did his jealousy at his father's inability to connect with him, whereas he was perfectly able to connect with his mutant students. Young David's powers came to light when he was 13, and with the powers came the boy's mental illness. In a fit of rage, the boy killed his mother, after learning the use of the Muir Island jets and how to get to his father.

With Moira dead, and Muir Island destroyed, the thirteen year old boy flew to New York, set on taking apart the entire mansion, along with its inhabitants, which included Jean Grey, Scott Summers, Ororo Munroe, Remy LeBeau, and Logan Howlet, along with younger students that Charles had started bringing into his school.

After a long a difficult battle that included X-Men and students alike, the boy was faced by an irate Jean Grey, who was prepared to use the full force of her powers to keep the boy from killing anyone in the mansion, however she was stopped by Charles.

With a smirk on his face, the boy killed his own father, however the strength that it took to kill Charles left David too weak to do much else. He left the mansion in ruins, but not before telling the X-Men that he would be back for them.

Currently, nearly five years after the death of their beloved Professor, the X-Men have reopened the mansion, keeping the superhero portion of it a secret even to the students. The Brotherhood has been formed by a blue skinned, redheaded morphing mutant named Mystique, and a precog named Destiny, after a prophecy shown to Destiny showed Mystique ruling the world as Homo-Superior. The only catch is the fact that David McTaggert was the brawn, while Mystique was the brain.

Where will you stand?
Will you stand with the X-Men, who have pledged themselves to their students and the world that hates them?
Or will you fight with the Brotherhood for David and Mystique's view of Homo Superior ruling supreme?

Sometimes, you must make a Sacrifice.

I know that you said you aren't familiar with Potterverse, but I think we offer a nice match in every other aspect so I figured I'd throw us out there as a possibility. We are Potterverse, but AU enough with enough of our own background and history (which is all well documented) that we are all about people's own personal spins. if you've seen a movie or two, you know enough to find your own place in our world. And we aren't, really, sticking to the storylines at all - so deviations from it are great.

If you are at all familiar with the movie Philidelphia Experiment II (don't worry if you haven't; few have these days), it's similar to that. We are in a bad guys have taken over the world and it's a modern, magical version of Nazi Germany. We are advanced with most of our members being adults and we are realistically violent. There's lots of room for good, rounded 'evil' characters.

So, unless you really don't want anything HP related (I couldn't tell if that was the case), feel free to take a look or ask any questions. And, if you didn't anything in that verse, I apologize.

Everyone made mistakes, even he, Lord Voldemort, did. And, it had been a gross and, at times almost fatal mistake. The Seer's prophecy about the Potter boy had seemed so simple and straightforward and it had distracted Voldemort from the real threat to his rise to power. But, the truth was, there had been nothing special about the boy. Potter had never really been a real threat.

It should have been obvious. The real threat was and had always been Albus Dumbledore. It had been him that had denied Lord Voldemort the ability to return to Hogwarts those many years ago. It had been he that had hid the Potters. Dumbledore had been the one to put the protections on the Dursley house. If Dumbledore could be neutralized, surely any other hindrances could easily be handled.

The task was simple. Go back and eliminate the real threat before it could thwart him so readily in the years to follow. Eliminate the Dumbledore bloodline before it could meddle in the true fate of the wizarding world.

The world had been as it was when he'd retired that evening. But he went to sleep, trusting that the time turner had worked. The Death Eater had reached their destination and the mission would be completed successfull. When the Dark Lord had awoken the next day to a delightfully different world, he needed no reports to know that the mission had been successful. The Dumbledore's had been eliminated, their world had been claimed and no one seemed aware of this drastic change that had occurred to their world.

It was clear things had changed. England, and indeed the whole world, had woken to a whole new reality the next day. It was a world in which the Dark Lord’s Death Eaters had been in control since their first claim of power in the early 1970s. The muggle class served the superior wizarding class and the Dark Lord enjoyed supreme rule over Great Britain. With Grindelwald alive and in power in continental Europe, they were well on their way to a superior wizarding race.

Most people are unaware of the change in history and situation. For most of them, they just have the memories of the current version of history, those having overwritten any memories of an alternate reality. On occasion, small percentages of people may experience a strange flashback or dream or something else that hints that things may have been different. But, such flashbacks are fleeting and frequently written off as wishful thinking.

Fires At Midnight

What is Fires At Midnight?

Our world takes place during the year 1997, when the main trio would be in their sixth year in the Harry Potter books of J.K. Rowling. In our world, in an attempt to secure his place of power, the Dark Lord sent one of his followers back in time to eliminate the Dumbledores before Albus and his siblings are born. In a world absent of Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald rises to power in continental Europe while, later, Lord Voldemort rises to power in England.

We welcome folks that are new to the HP world and RPGing in general. While the basic plot of this RP is based on the HP world, there have been many changes to the history, characters and Harry Potter universe. So, there is plenty of room for you to find your own storyline, even if you aren't caught up in the Harry Potter mania.

Mana4X2 - July 4, 2008 07:05 AM (GMT)
Well, since your said G to NC-17, I'll throw up Mana4X2's ad as well. We're over four years old, and PG-13 rated, and are in desperate need of some real bad guys. I mean, it's not like we don't have any, but seriously, it is soooo hard to find people to play the baddies. Callisto would open up bringing the Morlocks into the game as well, and having them in the next sitewide plot coming up... it would simply be awesome.

Anyways, check us out... it's all good if we're not what your looking for, however, here's hoping.

Cheers,
Mana

A lot has happened over the course of time, strength and growth clearly seen, as a new school year will inevitably bring more of the usual danger a resident of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters often faces. It seriously doesn’t help that Magneto‘s decision to open a new school of his own has seen many new mutants drawn to the Master of Magnetism's ideals. The Brotherhood Superiorum continues to grow strong, however, it's about to become no longer a school. Erik Magnus Lensherr cannot continue to inculcate his anti human ideals into the next generation if he has to constantly be looking after the duties being Principle entails!

No, it's time to simplify things so he can once again focus solely on the dream that mutants WILL one day reign supreme!

Who really wants to take sides though? Who really cares about either of their ideals? If that sounds like you, then DME is where you belong. Mana4X2's own concept created faction, Damien-Myne Enterprises, stretches over several cities, with its main office in New York City. Your boss is Colin Damien Myne, AKA Boilmet, founder and owner of this Freelance faction;; he offers you great accommodation, excellent pay, and the freedom to do whatever you want…

Cross him, though, and your life won’t be worth living! Boilmet will do whatever it takes to make sure nothing gets in the way of furthering his business… NOTHING, not even you.

And then there is talk that the FoH is working on something to eradicate mutant kind. Will they succeed?

Who knows, because only time will tell…

We love mature writers who set goals for their canons and work on character development on Damascus Road. Callisto is dead in our verse, I'm afraid, but we do have many other canons available and will be starting the board-wide soon so it's a good time to join ^^ Check us out!

We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal.
That they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.
That among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Four years have elapsed since both X-Men and Brotherhood faced the blazing fury of the Phoenix on Alcatraz Island. Time enough for Jean Grey’s death to be mourned by those who cared for her, and for those tears to be wiped away in turn by the wondrous reappearance of Charles Xavier. Reinstated as headmaster and leader of the X-Men, the future once again looks hopeful – periods of darkness will always be interspersed with light, however faint. Proving that medical means could never offer a real solution to what some humans saw as a threat, reports that effects of the ‘cure’ were wearing off were confirmed to be true; mutants everywhere regaining total use of their powers with the fullness of time, whether they had volunteered to be stripped of their x-gene or otherwise. Maintaining a civil relationship with the government and tolerated by the public, it would appear that mutantkind and Xavier’s own dreams of acceptance might finally stand a fighting chance.

Diversity makes tolerance more than a virtue.
It makes it a requirement for survival.

Scattered and disconcerted after their metal-manipulating leader was deprived of his gifts and with no one else resolute or willing enough to guide them, the Brotherhood lay in tatters. Still licking the wounds of Magneto’s stinging betrayal even after regaining her mutation, Mystique’s staunch and unwavering belief in the liberty of her kind remained evident even while forced to live the life of those she detested; perpetually driven by the thought of slavery at the hands of humanity and ideals that had been imprinted into her mind by the very man who would abandon her. Believing it to be a cause worth fighting tooth and nail to uphold, the metamorph set out to regroup the Brotherhood under her own reign, rebuild the underground organisation from its roots and fill her ranks with the like-minded – those who are willing to do anything to ensure that homo superior inherit the earth.

Courage is poorly housed that dwells in numbers;
The lion never counts the herd that are about him
Nor weighs how many flocks he has to scatter.

Yet even the most tenuous balance can never truly be held firm for long, and not all humans are quite so accepting. Those with the utmost faith will prove to be mutantkind's greatest detractors.

I am tossing ours in even though it is technically an HP AU. Our board has been around in different incantations for over three years now. This chapter is called the Black Pullet and it's been very active. While we classified ouselves as HP, we only barely have our foot in the canon. We keep discussing going to Original because the only thing we have kept at The Black Pullet is the idea that there is a magical world. Our world is original by most accounts and you would not need to know Potterverse to play. One of our newer writers (joined in March) had never played an HP board and is now one of our most active writers.

We do not discuss anything at all HP related, including Hogwarts, Dumbledore or Voldemort. In our world, they don't exist. We have our own group of villans called the Dray and a dark grimoire called the Black Pullet that has just fallen ino their hands. The destruction of the Black Pullet is bad for everyone as the book has its own agenda and it is now trying to bring itself back together....

While we are dark, we also add an element of absurdity and silliness so the world isn't just one big black hole.

Here is some of what you will find:

A dark Grimoire that is its own character~Magical Ireland~1969~Magical Royalists vs Social Endeavorist~ A new Prime Minister~ Guild of Raven vs The Dray~ Prison called Hackballs Cross~ Goblin run nightclub~Life by the sea ~Werewolf clan hidden deep in the Hoboken Mountains~ A recession~Demons~Rings~Power~ A city called Cat’s Claw that lives like it’s 1930~Redcaps~Farmers~Drunks~Whispers Academy~ Intellectuals~Playboys~Old rivals~ New rivals~Heasdmaster Reed Shellgren~Flying sheep contests~Elves who give fashion advice~Horses and carriages, ~The Brennan Clan~Dark magic revived~Crime and Punishment~Births~Deaths~ Gay Love~Straight Love~Unrequited Love~Illicit Love~Young folks~Old Folks~Folks who wear funnels on their heads~Murders~Immigrants~Hatred~Poverty~Unfair laws~Gossip~Fisherman~Deportation~The Dark Door Cantina~Secrets~Secrets~Secrets….

Total curveball, since we're not x-men or particularly rated, although that might change. But you can always check us out for something different. We're a Firefly based RPG, no canon characters, just as canon a 'verse as we could get it.

Early 21st century, Earth had finally grown beyond its limits and exhausted its resources. Mankind reached for the stars and found themselves a new solar system, with dozens of planets and hundreds of moons. Each one eventually terraformed to sustain life, a process taking decades.

Early 26st century, life on the partially colonized outer planets resembles the lawlessness and desolation of the American Old West. While the core planets prospered and grew strong in their ideals under Alliance control. The Alliance, a formation between old America and China, wanted to get the outer planets under their control too. Independents refused these idealistic views and war broke out, known as the unification war.

Five long years later war ended with heavy casualties on both sides, more heavily so on the Independents side than the Alliance. Even more then before the outer worlds were impoverished and crime ridden.

The year is now late 2519, and in the quest to seek out the perfect civilization the Alliance began experimenting to create the perfect society in taming aggressive behaviour. But it backfired resulting in millions of innocent lives that were lost and the birth of a new people, Reavers, malicious and cannibalistic people. Alliance tried to cover everything up.

Mid 2519 word got out, the last recorded message of a scientist was broadcasted across the Verse. The secret revolting and rebellion spread across the stars once more. The Alliance denied the reports at first but eventually embraced the idea and regarded it as a necessary loss. Others thought differently.

The Alliance this time is on the guard, trying to stop any uprising of those who step out of their control and challenge them. The 'Miranda' project, as they called it, has become their battle cry. It has been seared into their brain as lost loved ones made their sacrifices on that forgotten planet.

Its a playing ground; how will you play it ?

An active & original Firefly Verse RPG! Set after the Serenity movie in late 2519. Explore life on the Rim or join up on a ship, anything is possible on ’Out In The Black’

Hm, then I suppose Thiasa could work for you. We're VERY mature--the members are on average 20--and we have a great many older characters. We're historical, more than fantasy, but not historical in any real place. We're very active, but nonetheless cozy, and a very friendly and open community. :)

Feel free to PM or IM me with questions.

Best of luck with the search.

Knights and Barbarians, Shamans and Soldiers, Warriors and Priests, Ladies and Whores...

Not enough? We've got more--many of them dependent on your imagination. If you're creative, a good writer, and willing to try something new--this is the site for you.

So just sit back, buckle in, and Prepare for War...

The Baskar call the pale-faced strangers interlopers. They call themselves Thiasans. And they're out to crush the so-called barbarian opposition once and for all in what promises to be a long and bloody war. Barbarians? Just because their warlords marry their own sisters and they worship the sun as a God? The Baskar hardly think so. No, it's the Thiasans who must be conquered, with their castles and manor-houses, their arrogant King and brutal soldiers... their cannons and iron swords...

Come to think of it, the Baskar wouldn't mind getting ahold of some of those superior weapons... illegal arms traders, you say? It doesn't hurt that some of the Baskar are willing to trade a plant called datura--a potent hallucinogen--in return.

Then there's the plot to kidnap and sacrifice the Thiasan King to appease the Baskari Sungod...

...a prospective Queen so ugly she's thrown the country into an uproar...

...and no heir to be seen, apart from the weak and diffident Prince Fergus, the King's younger brother.

Let's face it, we're in trouble.

Welcome to Thiasa.

And for those who've read this much of the ad, some Site Trivia:

-We've won RPG-D's Forum of the Week award--a fairly big deal, apparently.
-We have an amazing new feature, auxiliary characters.
-We had 30 members within a week of opening, and we're still growing (we now have over 100).
-We encourage original characters, as long as they fit into our world.
-We also have so-called 'canon' characters, mostly ones connected to characters we're already playing, and generally very broadly described--often, we won't even assign them a specific age.
-We never require that you use a certain play-by.
-'Thiasa' comes from a Greek word. Ten points if you get the reference.
-Thiasan culture is based on Medieval Italy and France, and Baskari culture is based on the Sioux and the Aztec. Animal spirits and human sacrifice--where can you go wrong?
-A bored college student made up most of the site information. It took longer to compile the information on the Baskar than it took her to write a term paper on the philosophy of consciousness.
-Our cbox is unfiltered. That's right, you can curse in it.
-Come on, you know you want to join now.

Erik Lensherr, known as the mutant Magneto was arrested on Liberty Island three months ago. The reasons for his being there came to light with the discovery of a broken machine with high levels of radiation, thus explaining the bright lights from earlier that same night. How it came to be broken and just what magneto was doing atop the statue of liberty remains a mystery to this day, possibly to stay unsolved for years to come. For the time being he has been moved to a confined high security plastic prison to await trial for previous misdeeds which include mutant terrorism.

The whereabouts of his followers is uncertain as they have temporarily vanished into the woodwork. There are rumors, however, that the Brotherhood of Mutants is not as dead as the public would like you to believe. Word on the street is that the group has been placed in the hands of the mutants known as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. The exact status of the pair within this terrorist group has yet to be determined by government officials, though all agree their ranks are ever growing even with their leader behind bars. When or if they will strike next has many citizens concerned for there is no assurances that the government will be able to take evasive measures in order to protect the human population.

There is a place located in Westchester, New York that has become something of a safe haven for young mutants barely begun in their powers. To the world it is known as Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and within its doors are students of all ages working towards a higher education. According to one man, a Colonel William Stryker, there is more to this school than meets the eye. It is his belief that it is a playground for mutants, a training center for future terrorists to follow in the wake of Magneto and the Brotherhood. Sweeping through Congress is a request to infiltrate the halls of this school in order to ascertain what exactly is going on. Thus far the request has been fought against by the former anti-mutant coalition leader, Senator Robert Kelly, who has turned his efforts into fighting for mutant rights; it seems he has finally seen the light of day.

Any further inquiry by the public has been offset by the recent arrival of Emma Frost of Frost Enterprises as a member of staff at Xavier's. Already a well established figure of society it is believed that Ms. Frost will make a welcome addition to the all inclusive staff that has been furnished by the likes of Dr. Jean Grey, and Dr. Henry McCoy in the past. Naturally there is some scandal in the appointment of Ms. Frost as she has just been forced out of her well to do position in the high societal group, the Hellfire Club. The exact nature of her dismissal has been kept hush, though it is believed Ms. Frost was pushed out in favor of her own sister due to a not so discreet love affair.
