i was working on a short story last night for fun while the internet was down, and since i'm at my gran's i thought i'd put it up.
basics:
the characters are writers/rp'ers in modern day, but things start to happen and they get pulled into their written worlds, which they find out are all really one that shares an immeasurably vast space that contains all the written worlds of fantasy/sci-fi, and they have to find out how to survive unti lthey can find a way back.

I forsee everyone being eaten by a grue in the second chapter.

Sounds interesting. It kind of takes on this Neverending Story feeling. I would probably be pretty interested in it.

I ha an rp like that once, but it was the opposite, with the character's figments entering the "real" world.We even ha rp-er on there as well. One of my characters even had one of my real rp characters, so it was weird in a cool way. The best thing about it was the interaction between the characters and their creations, for me. Will the writer's characters be in their world or will there be just "extras" so to speak?

:D i'm glad there's intereest in it, since i could pull that off well in a shorter amount of time than the long term idea i'm working on. ((aka i need a sidetrack and i've been wanting to try out this idea))
it'll start in modern day, andd there will be areas for bother modern day and for the realm of... taory, a vast world connected by portals in which every single work of fiction has residence, and new parts are added on as more wkrs are created, from roleplays to classic novels, and there is but one portal that links the real world and Taory.
characters will be in aory and can be extras or the main focus to allow some freedom other than modern day, after all, not EVERYONE who gets to read a book/write a rp would get sucked in, or else it'd be a bit silly, just tose who want to, and the most of the modern world would be npcs, i suppose, but you could also play someone who lives and works in the real world, like a scientist or something investigating the odd reports fo vanishing people, and once the linking portal was found, studying it maybe- if those who come back don't get chucked in the loony bin for what they know is true and what the world would likely laugh at.
