winterdreamer - June 26, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Genre: Almost anything but I'm not big on animal rpgs. I prefer somthing that isn't super dark! And HP is always good with me.
Difficulty: any
Type(s) of Creature(s):human/humanoid
Preferred Rating: anything above PG-13
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Member's around 20 or above is good. And high activity is a must:)
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: any time period is good, but something close to present is nice.

Other Notes:
Please hook me up with some good high activity sites, I am highly active and hope to find a site that fits me. And I want somewhere that is super friendly and close. Somewhere that feels like family :] Thanks!!!

Heya

This is an original fantasy plot. You would be more than welcome here!

The plots are very flexible, in that if you want to be involved you can, but it isn't a requirement.

You can pretty much assume a relationship with whoever you want, everyone is really nice and welcoming, and besides removing spam and deleting rude people, the admins are just like every other member, so the rules are pretty lax.

(When I say Lax, I don't mean that there are one, there are a lot in fact, but the admin are not into enforcing them, They figure having them up scares away a lot of the riff-raff who make RPing no fun, so the ones who stay gt away with murder!)

There are a few members who are super active, three especially are on every day! (*cough* me too) We just had a huge clean out, so it look empty at the moment, but it's getitng full again.

The active active members are all older, and while the other not so active members come and go the few that have been around from the start are pretty sure things.

Um... other than that I don't know what to tell you!

Hatton Heights

And so it Begins...

Hatton Heights, a small town with a lot of trouble. From the street gangs to the pin up girls, everyone has a secret, and they will do anything to hide it. And I mean anything.

Two years ago, the Mayor of Hatton Heights died suddenly and mysteriously. The new mayor to be appointed soon followed the same path, and the people of Hatton now believe the position of Mayor is an accursed one, never to be filled again, a belief which has been encouraged by Micheal Thomas, the towns Chief Night-Watchman and Emily Larcombe, Headmistress of Hatton Heights and the woman the town looks to for strength during these difficult times. And so life goes on as normal in the small town. Or as normal as possible when you live in a town full of people with extraordinary gifts and powers beyond your wildest dreams.

And now, a Mysterious Journal has turned up in Hatton, and it's got everyone talking. Where did it come form? Who wrote it? And why does Emily Larcombe want to keep it under lock and key?

Truth is, this isn’t just a journal. It is an in depth Record of the people of Hatton Height and all their dirty little secrets. Someone in town knows far more than they should, not that they are sharing their information… yet.

You see, all the names in the records have been changed, and it is impossible to tell who wrote the thing, but Emily and Michael are determined to find out, because if the journal is accurate there are some very guilty people in Hatton Heights.

In a town built to hide a secret, everyone is lying about something. The deception has crept it's way into every aspect of the townspeople's lives, and now, it's impossible to be an innocent victim. Who can you trust when everyone's a threat, where do you turn when everyone's a suspect. Watch your back, it's going to get ugly.

Hatton Heights, Forget what you think you know.

The board is now viewable to guests!

Hope you enjoy!

I can offer you two sites. Both starwars, therefore fitting your human/humanoid search. Neither are very dark (plot-wise). Rating is PG-13+ for both. First board has 20+ members and a few thousand posts, second is in pre-opening stages where we're taking in members and staff alike and getting them to know eachother before the grand opening.

http://z11.invisionfree.com/Force_Aura/index.php?act=idx
-Little to no star wars knowledge required (we have a link on the board to take you to a place where you can find all the info you need to know)

http://z11.invisionfree.com/SWDT/index.php?act=idx
-some star wars knowledge required, but again not that much. This is the board that is currently "well-established"

If you don't like either, it's ok, I take no offense.

castaway - June 26, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
Hey, I can offer you Beginning of the End. It's a survival rp that takes place on an island, but characters off the island can also be played. It's based on the television show Lost, but knowledge of the show isn't required. Anyone can join. It's really friendly, and active. We love new members. We have a community that's really close-knit, but is open to welcoming new people in. Come take a look, but if it isn't your thing, that's fine too.

Good luck with your search!

LittleRikku - June 26, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
I would absolutely love you on our site. One problem is we don't have many members, but in total we have 6 rpers, and 18 members all together [so, including ones pending to put an application]. We would love new members though.

However, the ones who are joined are on a lot, including me =]]

Las Vegas is where anything goes, and everything stays. All the secret affairs, gambling, it's where people go for time to just have 'fun'. But then, there's always cheaters to this system and sometimes, it's not always fun for everyone else.

Casino: Fatale is a Literate To Advanced roleplay forum about transparant societies underneath all the lights, and the fancy colors that Las Vegas holds. Two teams, FALCON, and RAVEN, oppose each other in pure hatred for one another, or at least, their leaders due to beliefs about the way things should be run. Main mission? To destroy one's organization before the other destroys yours. Some may think it's simple, and each group puts the main goal as 'Protecting Vegas'.

But there's more to the story than a simple fight and protect scenario. It goes into a deep history between the leaders of each team, and the original goal that both teams shared. Differences create enemies, and now you must decide on where your loyalties lie. And is what you're fighting for truely noble?

Angel-girl - June 26, 2008 08:16 PM (GMT)
We've go you covered on the active and close-knit community bit. We're really super-active and have some great people who care about one another. We're also friendly as can be and take in new folks pretty easily (so long as you want to be included)
We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . You don't need to know a thing about the musical or the movie, since the characters are just characters, nothing more. We're grown up, decent writers, and friendly as can be. Have a look. The banner in my sig's the link.

We're in the year 1996 and the colorful residents of the East Village in Manhattan are facing the issues which challenge poor Bohemian artists in the mid-90s. Drug abuse, HIV, prostitution, starvation, death, life, and love. However, they find that they aren't alone, friends are all around, and there is always coffee to be drunk, issues to be discussed, and art to be created, good and otherwise. Come join our cast of canon and original characters, featuring a strong sense of community and creativity and find that you're not alone either.
Other notes:Based on the Broadway musical RENT, set post-canon, though slightly AU to keep Angel alive. We have evolved and changed over the past two years from a fandom RP to a RL RP with some fandom characters.  We are lucky to have a great group of OCs who are keeping the plot moving and changing quickly, and we always welcome new writers and OCs with open arms.
We also have a brand new board!  It's pretty and blue and still has that new board smell!!  Come see.  It's pwetty!!!

No one has ever heard the old Greek myths told quite like this.

In the neighborhoods of LA, Orpheus is forming a new band and Hades has taken over the dark world of the film industry. Hermes spreads gossip so fast you'd think he has wings and the Muses have a yet another art film out. Welcome to the new scene taking over Hollywood.

When the Greek Gods faded into the stuff of Myths and legends, no one even stopped to think about how they were present in every day life. Hades, dark and brooding, cuts a powerful figure in the film industry. Hermes, the gossiper, is seen everywhere telling tales and spreading rumors, placing the seed of doubt in everyone's eyes.

Here in Las Angeles, the Greek myths are very much alive and well in daily life.

With Persephone and Demeter trapped in relationship issues and Ismene and Antigone dueling out over a long-lost friendship, the Gods that walk the city are all experiencing life like they've never lived it before. The high life for some, with as much money as happiness can buy, or the low life for others, living in dingy, dilapidating apartments with barely enough dough for a crust of bread are the extremities of the situations.

Some are just trying to make a living in the Western world, while others are living it to the fullest, filling every moment with the highs of life- literally.

So who will you be?

Only you can tell us, and play out the story. Catch the fever.

bookworm_sara - June 26, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
I have a Harry Potter site for you. We're a pretty small group with maybe a dozen unique members, but everyone's pretty friendly and we haven't had any kind of major OOC drama. *knocks on wood* We've had our slow days and a couple members have been sick, but activity has been pretty steady the last couple of weeks.

The setting is currently October of 2020 and the school year is now in full swing. There is a state of peace for the Wizarding World, however all may not be well within Hogwarts castle. Strange little things have been happening recently. At first it was harmless things like new trick stairs appearing and suits of armour crashing down at random, but more recently things have been escalating. A bludger escaped from the Gryffindor Quidditch team's practice and has gone wild within the castle. The sixth and seventh floors are a mess and the bludger has just finished tearing apart the fifth floor. If it is not caught soon, someone could get very hurt.

Aside from these mysterious events, life does go on. The prefects are trying to keep one jump ahead of the newest pranksters Lily Potter and Fred Weasley, quidditch teams are looking for members and all the while students are wondering if Professor McGonagall has finally lost it. The headmistress has instituted a pen pal program for the students to try and ease inter house relations. A few students are trying, though there have been some pretty sarcastic notes being owled back and forth.

There are many canons currently open, but original characters are more than welcome. We have ten subplots up and an eleventh in the works, but if you have an idea, feel free to share and involve your character in something with other members. Newer members can jump into the action in one of three ways. First they can go to the Great Hall for breakfast and observe the results of Lily Potter's newest prank. A red haired Scorpius Malfoy. Since we have a DADA professor, fifth years can go battle boggarts and face their deepest fears, sixth years are conjuring patronouses and the seventh years are watching as classmate Selene Baker is wading into the lake to take on a Grindylow. (She will very probably need rescuing soon and a lecture on why you let the Gryffindors go first.) And as mentioned above we have a rogue bludger loose in the castle. Afternoon classes have just finished for a few students and not only is the rogue bludger bouncing around, there is a crush of students trying to get away from the fourth and fifth floors. We also recently gained a Muggle Studies Professor so if your character is interested in Muggles, "classes" have started.

Throughout history, in every civilization, there have been those who strive to be remembered. To live forever, in the minds and hearts of men. Or to simply live forever. Great and horrible deeds have been done, all in the name of eternity, immortality.

It has been 300 years since the fall of Voldemort, and though the future brings advancements in technology and magic, in policy and practice, some things never change. There are rumors of corruption within the Ministry, especially about Minister for Magic Quentin Abbey. Here and there, vocal Ministry critics are disappearing off the streets- coincidence? And of course a new year is beginning at Hogwarts, with feelings of apprehension from longtime Headmistress Neredia Dauntrye.

Our names will be revered. Our deeds will be remembered.

We refuse to be forgotten, lost to the winds of time.
We will raise our glasses together: a toast.

"To Life Everlasting."

The Dominion has been defeated. Against all odds, the Federation of Planets and its allies were victorious. Many brave souls gave their lives for the cause—soldiers and civilians, friends and family, leaders and lovers—but it finally seems that once more everything is safe and well in the galaxy.

The war criminals who aided the Dominion now face trial - but by whom? You see, even the most noble wars cause damage. Even the wars with the best intention behind them cause problems.

Anarchy
Out of all the powers involved in the Dominion War, the Cardassian Union suffered the most. Their capital planet of Cardassian Prime was utterly destroyed, leaving the survivors to live in a place of anarchy, famine, and disease. While their other colonies and territories may not have suffered the same destruction, with their government destroyed they cannot do much to keep the pieces together.

Tension
While still intact, the Romulan Star Empire came out of the war with its own political problems to sort out. Fighting alongside their old enemies left a growing rift between the Romulan people. Should they return to the isolationist ways, or should they entertain the idea of staying on the Federation's good side?

The Klingon Empire finds it's self in a similar situation. Do they separate themselves from the Federation or do they continue what has become an improbable - but strong - relationship? The issue could tear apart Qo'noS and what little is left of the Klingon Empire.

Recovery
The Federation - and all involved in the war - are trying to rebuild. Havoc has been wrecked throughout Federation space. The Federation feels they have a duty to keep law and order in the alpha and beta quadrants during this troubled time, but how can they do that when half their resources - both in people and technology - are gone?
____________

We are a somewhat free-form Star Trek RPG, set shortly after the end of the Dominion War. Our purpose is to address the end of the war issues left behind after the finale of Deep Space Nine.

In the beginning of time, there was only magick. From magick, the goddess formed. They alone could control the energy from which they were born and they alone created the Planes of Existence. They alone created the Law and the Will. They alone started the Explosion. They alone guide the universe. They alone see the futures. They alone are how we got here. They alone are why we suffer, why we love, why we feel and why we learn. They alone are everything.

Time and time again, the world we live in has been afflicted with war. Faction against faction, brother against brother, and man against man. Nothing comes from these battles but blood and the idea that the winner has saved someone. Even now, the wars we fight serve no real purpose but to bring about red rivers, yet we find them to be necessities, to be ever important. There is one war however that is a must. The war between Good and Evil.

When magick arose within the creatures on the blue rock, the Goddesses selected a single family. Their blood would be the blood that would serve as the chalice for the Will. Their blood would be the bearer of truth and of power. Their blood would be that of the Royal. They would be the Queens of Queens and the Lords of Lords. They would be the guides of True Magick, and they would not be alone. They would have their guardians, and they would have their hearts. They will never be alone, for as we read we know them. They are the Royals, and their magick is our magick. Their blood is our blood, and their suffering is our suffering.
-The Book of Truth passage three hundred twenty seven
The Royals have always been around, or so we’ve hoped. As the beacon of light, the Royals have always united magick in times of crisis against the darkness, and have helped to unite the Mortals in the fight against the hidden. The Royals, while a once large family, have been killed to the brink of extinction. Three Royal Bloodlines still live, and they’re getting smaller. Witch, Vampire, and Were. The Royal Bloodlines are still alive within those races, but time is running out. The guardians of good must act quickly if they are to save the powers they were bound to protect.

And they would be the evil. They called themselves the light, but they themselves where the absence. They were the abyss, but with Our Light they were banished. They fight to conquer the Mortal, but we protect against them. We fight for the Mortal, and we fight for our Blood. We fight for the Power. We fight for the Goddesses. We battle the demon and the darkness for the Light.
-The Book of Destiny passage thirty-seven

Demons, which have been rarely united as a race, have started conducting organized attacks. The Council of The Abyss has supposedly existed since before the Freemaker and this Council of Demons and Dark Practitioners have managed to wither away the Royals. They now stand resolved, with many of their followers behind them, in one single goal; eradicate the Royal.

Now take your stand in the world. Will you fight for the Royal? Will you battle for the Blood, or will you find your stance elsewhere? Will you stand in the Darkness and wage war for the Council of The Abyss, or will you be a stand alone darkness? How will your destiny play into the complicated world? Will you be a mortal who opens the door to Darkness? Whatever your role in this world, get ready, because you’ll have nothing to cling to

http://wdstf.ipbfree.com/index.php?

It's very close to being a fairytale. Someone wants a certain race to take over the world, powerful and seemingly unbeatable. It's impossible to locate who's supporters of who and who. Death is suddenly similar to dominoes... but this isn't a game. All the more it isn't a fairytale. It's a fire, with matches thrown in by Voldemort.

He wants to kill the half bloods and muggle-borns, they whisper. It's either dread or delight that accompany those whispers in the hallways of Hogwarts and the streets of London. Voldemort. Suddenly his name sends shivers down the spines of the wizarding community. When you suddenly become sure that nothing can get worse, the Minister is said to have been his puppet. The Minister's choice was to either help out the wizarding world and probably die, or become hated and live. His choice was both unwise, and unhelpful. The diplomats the Minister sent out to deal with Voldemort perished.

Voldemort's here. The Minister's denial led to his death.

Then... It's all a lie, claim Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Voldemort showed that he was there, he was in the flesh. At school, it's either you seek the path less willingly taken to Voldemort, or you follow the other path... in most cases, the correct one. It is your choice to believe the Ministry, or Voldemort. So this is what it's like to be right smack in the middle of a war.

The wars goes on, and all the kids can say is we didn't start the fire.

A new HP site, we've only got the admins so far, but we're REALLY looking to get big and expand.

Fantasy is Reality . . .

Enter into a world divided.

With the fall of the Guilds, the Realm of Mystery descended into chaos, out of which rose two factions.

Noresh, place of life, preaches truth, justice, and honor.
Noctis, land of dark, tempts with the night’s honeyed poison.

Repelling and attracting, their dance is a delicate balance upon which the fate of the world rests. After all, there could not be night without day, or day without night . . .
. . . could there?

Yet now an even greater threat looms, and the two are caught in a shifty alliance that could fall apart with a single wrong move. Wanderers, unbound by pledges to either side, pursue their own agendas or seek to create their own power base. Others choose to unite with one of the two factions and test their worth from within. The promise to all beings has always been freewill, and the choice can be made only by you.

The Realm of Mystery is a freeform rpg where characters are the ones who create—or destroy—their world. Join Noctis, join Noresh, or set out on your own. Rise through the ranks or become the subtle shadow behind the throne. Throw havoc or negotiate peace—make friends or enemies—control magic or become a master of fighting—be a leader or a follower—blur the lines of reality to suit your needs. Create your character . . . . Create your destiny . . . . Create your world.

As an advanced roleplaying site, a "sample post" application is required to join. Once accepted, you will find active, supportive members who are helpful out of character and skilled roleplayers in character. Very few other sites are as long-running and creative as the Realm of Mystery, and nowhere else have individual members had the power to change and alter their world as they have on RoM. Join us, and learn the true meaning of magic.

WELCOME TO THE FUTURE.

"We have dragon-riding psychics who eat pie, are addicted to the internet pretty much, who love socks, toe socks and loin cloths, some have wings and some...have giant scorpion tails."

Yep, that just about sums up Remnants of the Earth, a sci-fi fantasy RPG with a very eclectic style. Curious about the other details? Click one of the links below to learn more. But as a teaser I'll say we do have dragons. And psychics. We also have underground resistance groups, dystopian societies, necromantic research corporations, space stations, and space pirates, among plenty of other things.

So c'mon, check us out! And if sci-fi scares you, don't sweat it! We even have a little town called Sevenwinds, a community of people who reject technology and survive by the sweat of their brow. They do it medieval-style, baby.

WE OFFER:
  • A fun, drama-free community filled with friendly and enthusiastic players that love new people. You won't find any scary, stuffy people here. <3 We're active, too, and we've been going strong since September 6th, 2007.

  • Magic, nifty gadgets, political intrigue, espionage, and all that fun stuff!

A WORLD REBORN...

Magic, intrigue, and an ever-expanding world filled with mysteries just waiting to be discovered: that's Spirits of the Earth, a high fantasy RPG set on a very futuristic Earth. But it's not what you'd expect the future to be like; there are no flying cars, no supercomputers, no cyborgs and androids. There are no towering skyscrapers, no vacations on Mars. Instead there are lush jungles, blistering deserts, majestic palaces, haunted brothels, pristine oceans, magic-fearing kingdoms, and...

...Unicorns and dragons and sorcerers and death cults?

Yep. Instead of developing forward, society developed backwards. In a sense.

The world is beautiful now, healed from the scars the wars and technologies of the past inflicted on it, but not all is right in the world. Already history is beginning to repeat and the world stands divided by its people's prejudices: the mages against the non-mages, the religious against the non-religious, and everything in between.

WE OFFER:

  • A fun, active, friendly, drama-free and advertisement-free community that has been going strong for over seven years with no hiatuses or shut downs. Needless to say, you don't have to worry about it dying! All players are welcome, as well. If you have a story to tell, come on in! New people are loved.
  • A diverse and open setting that allows players to participate in shaping SotE's unique world and culture. Many of the lands and countries in SotE's setting have been suggested by the players, and players are allowed to submit their own races, religions, and even plants and animals to the site. The game is in a constant state of change and growth, and what you do does matter!
  • Player-driven plots that range anywhere from casual one-on-one role-plays to epic, site-wide conflicts and adventures. Both are encouraged!
  • The opportunity to play as any original character you like, whether it be a humanoid like a human or an elf, an animal like a wolf or a dragon, or even something you've created entirely on your own.
  • The freedom to write, explore, and create with very few rules (while still ensuring in-game harmony). Got a concept you've been dying to try out or an idea that's been gnawing on your brainmeats? Unleash it here.

We have pictures above every forum on the inside, showing what that particular area looks like. So - are you willing to be who you have always wanted to be? You might be interested in 'Souls- it's extremely active and is werewolves! O: (Sorry, at first I thought you said you WERE big on animal rpgs. I went back and saw a negation of that, eep <__>; )

Here's the ad if you'd like to take a look!

'souls

'Souls is a post-apocalyptic world. Humans have long extinguished themselves with a military virus, yet the wildlife persists. The Canis family in particular seemed to adapt very well and evolved the ability to change into a bipedal from, the Luperci. Others have not, the Luperci Nonnisi. Some embrace this newfound gift, others loathe it with passion. Some treasure the shifting ability, some grapple with it...

Since 2001, 'Souls  has provided an interesting and stimulating in character experience to roleplayers of many skill levels and ages. Our In Character environment provides an experience for both those wishing to roleplay wolves as well as those who wish to play a character beyond the average wolf. Our Out of Character environment is friendly and laid-back, with contests, games and other fun things for members to participate in. Discussions, debates, and questions are welcome and encouraged. Bleeding Souls is always looking to add new members to its ranks!

'Souls  has been a consistent and favorable roleplaying environment for all roleplayers. The general game rating is PG-13. More mature threads are welcomed though, as long as they are clearly marked. The administration is experienced and fair. The general population of the game is more than willing to help out any newcomers to the experience.

Check 'Souls  out today on our domain, bleeding-souls.com or on our forums.

We hope to see you soon!

Hi, I am sorry I took so long to respond to your ad. I saw it a few days ago but I have been sick and I didn't just want to throw up a copy and paste about the site and rush off. CtS is a *throws modesty out the window* well run and very creative site. We try to be very original and it shows in the characters that have been created and the high quality plots that the members have made. We are constantly growing and we are always happy to have new people. If you are looking, please have a look at us!

Fast-forward to the next generation.
The world; it lies in ruins. A shadowed shell of what used to be.
Humanity struggles just to exist, forced to the bottom of the food chain.
Trying to find a new way in the world.

We were battered and broken.
Dragons rule the earth; beautiful in their strength.
They have taken us from the skies. Reigning down their vengeance,
leaving us to pay the price for our ancestor's sins.

Saved by our own mutations.
Some wonder if it was better to live as the lower class or to just die.
To be turned into weapons, no more than slaves to the psionic lords.
To live a life that is not yours to live.

Tally is love. Tally is family. XD

AU HP set in Australia, you really can't get much better. Or at least, I like to think that, but I have an ego about the size of, well, of this room which is going to make leaving it rather difficult.

And sadly, I must do so now, to slave behind a checkout... so I will leave you with a link, and see if you do agree that Tally is as awesome as I say.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I'm checking out the sites one by one, slowly. But they all are wonderful. I wish I had enough time to join every single one :) Alas I do not. But I will make an attempt! Thanks everyone I appreciate the time you all took to post! xD

    Welcome to Myridia.

Welcome to a small, flourishing metropolis of diverse cultures and knowledge. Welcome to a country of fascinating characters, magic, and wonder. Welcome to a world so familiar, and yet so different. Myridia is a land pressed between two powerful empires. It is a land struggling to survive under the gaze of giants, but had persevered for decades. Its magically gifted population gives it a powerful edge, as well as its strategic geographical position.

    But tides often change…

It is only a matter of time before one of the empires tries to take Myridia as just another prize in their war chest. It is only a matter of time before an empire brings blood and war to Myridia’s gates. This has caused tensions to stir uneasily amongst the proud people of Myridia. They begin to debate on their nation’s next move, with some calling out to submit to either of the greater territories.

Yet the pride of independence rings strong in many of the citizens; whether it be for tradition, for belief, or for pure ignorance.

But intrigue also churns within Myridia’s borders. With an active governance system in which political factions rule, the clashes within Myridia are often more fiery than those outside its borders. Everyone has a say, and political disagreement can often be dangerous, risky, and precarious. Factions fight for dominance, and the ever present guardianship of The Council looms silently.

A land built upon the ambitions, heartache, and passion of its people, Myridia is a place where the smallest of tales can have the most powerful of consequences.

In a land in which all factions have a say, a single voice might just make the difference.

    Will it be yours?
Betrayal. Intrigue. Deception.
M.Y.R.I.D.I.A

Come join us at Myridia! We’ve got an original, exciting plot going, and have many canon position still available-- although original characters are more than welcome. We are a vibrant, active community of role-players, and we’re a great place to indulge in smaller, more personalized character plots.
