Title: Tabletop System Rpgs
Description: Good idea, bad idea?

I play a lot of tabletop games, but I have a hard time getting a group together after people move away, have kids, get new jobs with erratic schedules, whatever. So I've been looking for forum games, but for the most part, I find that the aspects of forum games that I like get usually overshadowed by:
-- moderators with "my way or the highway" attitudes about character concepts
-- boards where post length is valued more highly than post quality.
-- "subplot" sheets that function more as shopping lists than roleplaying guides and are actually longer and more detailed than any roleplaying that's gone on.
-- a blinding all-white-and-pale-gray layout that I can't actually read
Part of the reason I like tabletop games is that there's a book associated with it (usually) and everybody can be on the same page, but I like forum games because there's a general level of personally-driven plot and character interaction that there just isn't time for at the table.
Does anyone have any thoughts on making a forum game based on the world of a tabletop game, without strictly requiring things like dice rolls, actual character sheets, and single linear plots and adventuring parties?
Something like Ars Magica or Changeling: The Lost would be perfect for something like this, I think..

I have a feeling you might not need to make one, I feel like I've seen things exactly like what you want, and I know I've seen some boards that are very similar.
Have you tried filling out a roleplay request form? That may put you in the right direction.

If you can point me towards one, that'd be great!
And yes, I filled out a request form, but I didn't get any responses when I did; this was some time ago, though, it may be time to try again. I just wasn't very optimistic, I guess.

I've found oodles of tabletop roleplay forums at
http://rpol.netThey don't have the fanciness of all these things with custom skins, but a lot of the time that's not necessary, you know?

The best table top forum I've found is plothok.net. Not only do they have oodles of members, dice generators, etc but the members are friendly, helpful, and have saved me a couple of hundred bucks in RP books by shareing downloads. However, I like the PbP type format and was thinking of doing something with WW's Interdemntional series.

You mean
http://plothook.net/RPG/ ?
I really try to make all sorts of different characters, and it really makes you a better player. Right now I have a militaristic, clock-building Hufflepuff, a prim Korean ice princess, a Georgia redneck, and an ambitious 11-year-old who wants to be Martha Stewart when she grows up.
