The Positions

Sort/Index Moderators

• Your job is to sort new advertisements (submissions) and keep the directory submissions up to date. Sorting is a daily job.
• You also keep the directory itself up to date, make sure dead/inactive sites get trashed, and change the activity buttons when needed.
• We’ll take a maximum of six sorters/indexers, this so everyone can get their own section of the directory to keep up to date next to the submission sorting. The index is ever growing, and thus we need capable staff who can work in a team, but also individually on their own section of the directory. If we get six, jobs will be defined even further. You must be familiar with RPG-D’s general rules, as well with our submission rules & guidelines. Before you start to work, you will of course get an explanation and run-through through everything. It’s also greatly appreciated if you can stick with us for a longer period of time. So if you know you won’t be capable doing your job after summer vacation (whatever reason), then please don’t apply.

Moderators for Graphics section

• Your job will be to moderate the graphics section, we’ll be getting a new service, graphics shops (member run graphics requests) thus modding this, and to keep this section fresh and interesting (for instance getting the Art Chat forum active again) by giving us new suggestions for new features, forums etc. (you will not be request staff). As well as running possible graphics requests.
• It is greatly appreciated if you have moderate graphics abilities as we might rely on you to do some graphics work for RPG-D itself too (think new forum graphics, or graphics who can be given to winners of contests etc.)
• We’ll take on a maximum of two graphics section mods.

Moderator for Writing section

• Your job will be to moderate the writing section. You will also be responsible for the new upcoming forum ‘Writing Challenges.’ This means you like to write stories (not only RPG’s), know a bit about writing and thinking up different writing challenges (in all genres). You will work together with Toni-May on this. Your job will be to maintain an active community in these forums and keep interesting challenges going on. You will also be able to give us suggestions for new features for the writing section itself.
• It is greatly appreciated if you have good grammar and spelling skills, and that you followed some form of writing course, and/or write yourself a lot (not only RP related, but say stories, fanfics, poems, one-shots etc.). If

Requirements for applicants:

• You must be an active member on RPG-D (or willing to become an active staff member). To apply you must have a minimum post count of 20 posts.
• You must have free time on your hands, you must be online for almost every day (of course it's obvious you might have some real life troubles etc. as long as you let us know if you have a more busier time etc and can't completely keep up with your job. Communication is the key!). Also again, if you know you won’t be able to dedicate your time to RPG-D as a staff member after summer vacation, please don’t apply. We need to rely on you after summer vacation too. This is very important!
• We will also expect of you to not only mod your own section, but also be an active participating staff member in other sections and in the staff room.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Well, I've moderated on a ton of other boards, plus being an admin - and I really like to help people. I've been lurking a LOT more than posting on this forum, or else I'd have some massive post count. I'm in it to help people, and I believe that I can help with the organization of the site. I enjoy doing work on forums for some odd reason, and I think that I'm a pretty friendly guy - so, I wouldn't hesitate to try and help someone, even if it was out of my said forum.

Well, I feel as though I'd be a good candidate for this position because though I've only been here a short time, I've been active and posting everyday. You wouldn't have to worry about me disappearing and running off. In terms of the writing portion, I absolutely love to write, and I have been for a long time. I've done all sorts of things, from short fan fictions to chapters for a novel, in addition to roleplaying. From the job description given above, I feel like I'm already starting to get a few ideas for types of challenges we might be able to do, and I think the whole idea is great. - Dharma Station Zer0 I've been a moderator there since the forum's creation two years ago. I started off moding the groups and games forum, mainly the RPG, Battle For the Island (which is sort of a silly murder mystery roleplaying game), fan fiction, etc. But now I do mod the entire forum.
- Hallows && Horcruxes. I've been a member there since the site's creation nearly a year ago, and became a global moderator about four months ago.

I still check it daily and help to welcome new members and offer insight to topics in the discussion forum. What are the other forums you own/are staff on: For 8 months I helped to co-administrate and run The Sapphire Court. It is an AU Tudor genre type of board in which I helped to progress the plot, accept and help new members, and participate in roleplaying myself. I stepped down a few months ago due to internal staffing problems, but in it's day The Sapphire Court constantly had a flow of new members and active plots. Now, it's a bit desolate and overrun with spambots as the main admin abandoned it.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: After being here for so long (it feels like a long time, even though it's only been just over a year and a half), I feel like I've watched RPG-D grow and expand so much, and I would love to help and be involved with that process. I'm online daily and would be willing to help in any way I can on this site. I am a very organized person, and I can see myself consistently sifting through the old and new directory admissions pretty constantly to keep people informed about boards that are still alive and kicking instead of making them dig through lists of inactive ones. ^-^
General Activity on RPG-D?: I joined in late 2006, and I have been fairly active since. I am on this site every day, usually multiple times to see if there are new roleplays starting up, to check topics I have participated in, and see if there are any interesting topics brewing. RPG-D has been one of my favorite sites since I joined, and I find myself coming back often during the day.

What are the other forums you own/are staff on: I've recently aquired a moderator position on Nagoya Academy, and an administrator position on Dunlap Grove. Both are very new forums. I have much experience with the Mod CP and the Admin CP. Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Even in my rather short time on RPG-D, I really have grown quite attached. I'm on here for hours everyday, reading and posting and doing my thing. The reason I'd really like to help out with the directory is because I love to look through other forums. I have a lot of time on my hands and still will in the fall. I think that's where I could help out the most. I'm also obsessive when it comes to organizing things online, and just on computers in general.

What are the other forums you own/are staff on: I'm Head Admin and owner of Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered. I didn't create the forum, rather it was passed off to me (co-admin at the time) when the owner didn't have enough time for it (which was almost immediately after it opened). We'll be celebrating its one year birthday next month.
I'm also currently a Forum Moderator on the Doll War Forums. I was originally modded about 3 years ago. However, I quit at one point due to staff problems. Last year, I rejoined the site and the forum, and after a few months I was asked to join the staff again. I mostly handle the Websites and graphics boards. I've been a mod there since early November.
I've also helped staff and set up a number of other forums, most of which have died because the admin lost interest early on. I am unable to provide links because I've lost the links over time.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I LOVE RPG-D a ton, and have grown more attached to it as time has passed. I feel as though I can help with either of these boards because I am online almost all the time (At least four or five hours a day) and I love meeting new people. I am an English major with creative writing emphasis, wo that may help if you choose me for the writing part of the forum. I get excited looking at new boards, and often will go around just to look at the ideas that people have come up with. Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Because I am good at mod jobs. Because I am online quite a bit. Because I am trustworthy. Because I have experience. Because I am the best...okay, maybe not the best but I am good enough :p

I am online pretty much all the time, at least on MSN. That does not mean I am sitting infront of the computer all the time (I do have a social life :p) but I do leave my MSN account logged on pretty much all day, so if you need to tell something you will always be able to. I am willing to spend as much time as I need on here, making this place even better than it already is. I know I may not seem like the most active member, posting wise, but I try to get on here everyday and check things out. I am attatched to this place.

I do believe i have some generally good writting skills, and I know I have a very overactive imagination, meaning I can come up with some very good ideas for challanges and I am good at getting people to join things.

I also have pretty good organizational skills, which is why I also put the Sort/Index Mod position up there. I know I can help keep things running in those sections, and I am good at working with a team. I think.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Alright, I've been a member here for a fair while, maybe not as long as some senior members. I'd like to think I've contributed to the community at least a little bit, helping with members and welcoming new people so I'd like to think I have a decent reputation these days. If not, at least I'm friendly, and very happy to offer anything from critique, to praise, to advice.

I've been writing and roleplaying for a long time, and I'd like to think I've "sailed the waters" if you will, long enough to offer advice. Also, I'm fairly good at starting conversations, so I could spark some more activity.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I love graphic design. From teaching others how to make things, to designing graphics myself, it's all an absolute thrill to me. And, considering how much I love RPG-D, what better place to do this than here? Once upon a time ago, back when GreatestJournal.com was still alive, I participated in a lot of different graphics communities, even owned and helped run a few as well. I filled requests, posted tutorials, ran contests .. It was all pretty satisfying, and a lot of fun.

On a more professional level, I am a graphic design major about to enter her second school year, and I've worked with a few clients in the past. This can come in handy when making official graphics for the board, because I can work with someone if, say, my first "draft" of something isn't exactly what you want. Like the style of something, but not the text? No problem, I'll change it immediately. Really, I'm easy to work with, and I'm not going to go off the handle and get totally offended if you don't like something. I want to make sure things look as good as possible, and I'm willing to change something ten thousand million times (harhar) if need be.

I'm also into other types of media. I actually attend a private art school where all majors are required to take fine art classes (like drawing, 2d design, 3d design, etc.), so I have some experience with drawing, painting, collage, and the like. So basically, when it comes to getting the art section active again (the poor thing), I'll .. actually have something to add. xD

I've been playing with graphics ever since I was twelve years old, and over the years I have gained experience/knowledge about different programs, computers, operating systems, and all that good jazz. So, in some cases, I will be able to help people if they have problems with these things, when it comes to making graphics on their own. I'm pretty resourceful, know where you can get free resources, even programs that you can make your own stuff in .. All in all, what I'm trying to say here is, I have the experience. And not only do I have the experience, but I know a pretty good amount about the topic (I would think), and can help people with things. It would be a job I'm responsible for keeping up with, but with the passion I have for graphics, it would still be highly enjoyable to me.

General Activity on RPG-D?: Pretty active as of late. There was a period of a few months that I didn't participate very much due to a setback in the family, but generally it's all good now. And, I can assure you that I'll be able to give RPG-D more than enough time needed .. Even with school, I know personally that I will be able to dedicate at least a few hours to the board each day, so activity, really, won't be a problem with me.

Dead Vice -- a criminal organization. It's what we like to call a "seasonal SL," and this is it's fourth summer yet. I skinned the entire thing from scratch, and created the forums on it, as well, with some additions from the other co-owner. If you would like to see my user profile, you can find it here.

I was also the owner/creator of a HP board called Cauldwell Academy for just slightly over two years before I shut it down for good last November, due to inactivity and general disinterest on everyone's part. Not anything I ever blamed on anyone, it just kind of happened. It's closed to everyone except old members right now, but if you'd like me to open it up for you to look at, I will happily oblige.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I think that it's important to cultivate all aspects of our writing skills, not just roleplay. It's great that you're giving us the chance to do that here at RPG-D, so that writers can talk with other writers about their work. It doesn't happen nearly enough. I would really like to help other writers with their work, encourage writing outside of roleplays, and create a writing community online that can benefit us in the real world. Plus, RPG-D is a great site and I would love to contribute what I can to help it continue to grow.

In RL...I've wanted to be a writer since I was little. The one time I participated in NaNoWriMo I succeeded. I'm a Professional Writing major in college with a Creative Writing minor. I've been writing stories since elementary school. I've written/am writing novels, children's books, poetry, fanfic, parody, short stories, plays, song lyrics, and RPs, obviously.

As for my moderator capabilities...I've been admining for as long as I've roleplayed, which is about five + years. I'm very tidy, and strive to be friendly and welcoming to members all the time, though I am very firm when it comes to rules. I try to do my best and expect the same of others. My administrative philosophy is that, if I do the best I can, the members will tend to do the same.

I can give criticism and take it. I love creating plots and bouncing ideas around with other writers. I already have a few ideas in mind for challenges and things we could do in the writing forum.
General Activity on RPG-D?: Med-High. I have college and a job to attend to in real life, and an active site of my own. I try to post at least once a day here. (Not hard, since there are so many interesting threads)

I've always wanted to be, but I always seem to miss the submission date for applications.. I enjoy hanging about here, I'd like to be in a position where I can help make the board a fun and interesting experience for everyone involved.

I like to try and keep things organised, I'm a bit addicted to multimods. I also like having something to do when I'm utterly bored (which is most of the time, to be honest) and indexing tasks sound like they fit the bill just nicely there.

As for the writing, I'm a student of Professional Writing, I adore good spelling and grammar, I've tutored people on essays, assisted with creative writing, I love holding little competitions and seeing what people come up with.

I'm pretty much always online, or at least always reachable. I have two MSN accounts, two AIM and one Yahoo.. and most are usually connected. I understand the nitty gritty of running a forum, I take orders well, and I like to keep getting people involved in the fun.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board:
I like RPG-D a lot. It's just a nice, welcoming community. Unfortunately I'm not blessed with graphics skills and - though I do write a lot - there are people who would be a lot better at running creative writing contests and the like. Besides, the Index is something that I love skimming through. It's interesting to see all the other ideas that people have had and so I check it quite often. Any time a new post gets put into the submissions or gets filed away, I check it out. Any updates someone makes on a submission, I'll check. It's just something to do and, like I said, its neat to stop by forums and see what people are up to. So, if I could actually make this process into something that is actually productive, that'd make me feel better about spending so much time doing it, lol.

Besides, I'm a pretty laid-back, down-to-earth, helpful sort of person. I like long walks on the beach and long talks by the fireplace.

I should be around even after the summer. There will be a period of like... a week in August where I'll be traveling to Korea and then going through orientation at my university. I do not know what life will be like in Seoul so I cannot say for sure that I will have hours upon hours for this forum. I just want to be upfront about that. As far as I know, I should be able to still do things but it is uncertain.

I check it just about every day. Even when I was abroad in Guatemala I checked the board daily. Well, until I ran out of money to pay for the internet. UNFORTUNATELY. More recently my activity in the Lounge area has been less because I was in a foreign country and I didn't have time to reply to anything since I was paying for the internet by the minute. I've been back for four days, though, so I'm getting back into the swing of things. :D

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Well, I’ve benifited quite a bit from this site and I’d love to have a chance to give back. The best way for me to do that? Be on the staff. I’m good at taking orders and giving them (to others and myself) and I’m not afraid to deliver the bad news that a site’s submissions has been trashed since they’re dead or failed to keep up with the requirements. Though I’m willing to use the mighty smighty hammer, I usually avoid snapping until there’s no other options. Friendly emails, PMs and the occasional C-Box comment are more my style. As general rule, I work well with others and would be more than willing to help other people with their sorting/trashing if RL goes crazy like it loves to. I’ve owned a number of sites and worked on more. I feel more comfortable in the admin/mod cp than I do in any other part of the site :D.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Well I believe I can truly dedicate myself to keep things in order.. I myself have owned my very own RPG, and website host, and had it running for a year. I am a big neaty tidy person.. So I believe that if you need someone to keep things in order, I can definitely be that person. I am very friendly and take direction well. I also tend to check RPG-D everyday to see what is going on. So I can be very handy. All I have going for me right now is school, so I believe that I can haggle with school and being online with no problems. =]

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Well I'm here all the time anyways! (haha) I really love this site. It's much better imo, than RCR and others just because it has a much homier (is that a word?... yes, i think so) feel. I think I have the skills needed for the job, and I make time for my boards in my life. I'm also super excited about the updates and just really would love to help in any way I can, so that RPG-D can continue to grow into an even more amazing resource... if that's possible ;)

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I think I'd be good for a few reasons, all modesty thrown to the wind here. ( :) ) First, I'm mature. I wouldn't start arguments, or just leave because of one, I would try to solve it and try to help people, try to make everyone happy as much as possible. Second, I won't skimp, or decide that one day I'm just too tired to sort through directory advertisements. I won't just sit at the computer and play games, rather than do my job, I'll actually do it and do it well. That leads onto my third point, even little jobs, or repetitive jobs like sorting directory ads, I'll do them thoroughly and to the fullest and put my best effort in. And lastly, I've been on the Directory for a while and promise to be loyal to the fullest.

Plus, I can also come on a lot. ^_^
General Activity on RPG-D?: As of lately I haven't been here as much as I used to but I am still on very often, always checking topics and that kind of stuff rather than always posting. During the summer, actually, I'll be away the entire month of July (leaving the second, coming back the 30th i think) but after that I'll be on just like during the school year, an hour or two during the week and around four on the weekends, given the occasional day I can't on too.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I am very mature and detail oriented. It drives me nuts to find inactive listings that are listed as active or whatnot, so my section will be up-to-date without a doubt. I have experience in modding and administrating. I am very familiar with the board's interface, including the mod and admin CPs. I enjoy seriously and maturely discussing various issues on a board and working with others to solve these problems. I love offering advice and help wherever I can. But perhaps my best quality for the position is that I am friendly, open and honest.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: Every time I see mention of the backlog, I die a little inside.

No, really.

Outside of the flat spaces in my room, clutter irritates me to no end. Backlog, inappropriately labeled listings, etc. all fall under the clutter category. Couple that with the fact that I never seem able to haul myself away from the computer, and it just makes sense: I get to do something productive with my insane amounts of online time, finally understand the work that the current index moderators have to go through, and contribute to the forum that already commands scads of my time.

You should want me as an index moderator because it's something I know I can be good at. Organization (again, outside of my room XD), efficiency, and dedication have long been my strong points, and I'm both eager and prepared to apply them to RPG-D.

I want you to want me! =P

General Activity on RPG-D?: I'm on daily, though my activity is typically more in a lurking capacity than actually posting. My activity level really could be increased if needed, but I think I'm already on far too much for it to be healthy XD

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I'm online a lot, and regularly look through the directory as it is. I'd really like to help out on RPG-D, especially to speed up the submissions, because as someone who's submitted to the directory before, I know how quickly people want (and expect, I guess) ads to be sorted.
Also, I'm familiar with system, and the Mod CP itself.
...and I'm useless at writing these. In short, I've been hoping to become an index mod for ages, because I really want to help out. I genuinely like this site, and I think the directory's fantastic when it comes to helping new boards gain traffic.

While I'm a relatively new member of this board, I am a very dedicated member on all the boards I've ever joined, and will be equally committed to this board. In example, I've been a member on some extremely successful boards for over three years (amazingly that long!). I'm able to come on several times daily, and will maintain my activity level even after summer ends. Also, I am only working on one board at the moment, which will allow me to dedicate more of my time to RPG-D. However, I am very aware of my work load, and will therefore not take on more jobs than I can handle; in other words, I'll make sure I always have enough time for this site. Even if not given the job, I will be seen posting around here bunches more because the site I've been co-creating is about finished, and I will continue to have free time.

In addition, this site has been very helpful while I've been co-creating my own site, so I'd love to help out in anyway I can ^.^

In simpler terms, you should choose me above the others because I have the time, and will be able to continue with the job even after summer ends; I am a dedicated member, and will gladly (especially since I now that I've basically finished my new site) partake in posting around the site and in the staff room; I will commit myself to this board above others, and won't take on other jobs unless I absolutely have the time; finally, I'd love to help out this extremely well constructed site in any way I can.

Beauxbatons Academy of Magic :: Admin and co-founder, although the site is still under construction. Started working on it a couple of weeks ago.
I have been an admin on one other site (OTH site called `Behind the Face, closed due to inactivity, and the other admin didn't want to continue the site) and a mod on one site (NepHogwarts, also closed down about two or three year ago, staff member for 6 months) - as I said, these both unfortunately closed down.
Also (an afterthought) I will be helping this site (Hogwarts) with a revamp and advertising, although this will take very little time, and won't interfere with my time for RPG-D.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I first came to RPG-D looking for role-plays, and the day I joined I fell in love with the site. I personally adore this site and the people in it. I love role-playing and I have plenty of spare time on my hands not only during the summer but also when school starts back up. I am pretty good with HTML and I can manage things pretty well. I am good at organizing and I have an eye for mistakes. I'm paranoid, which is a good thing in this case, and I am a very dedicated person.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I like RPG-D, and because I think I might contribute. RPG-D is one of the very few advertisement boards I have stayed with, because there are interesting things going on beyond advertising. And I want to help make it that way.

Why writing? I am an avid reader, and I write a lot. I have participated in two creative writing courses, and am starting a bachelor in English this fall. Language, genres, puncutation and grammar all fascinate me. I would love to see discussions about writing thriving here. Considering the number of active members, it really should not be difficult. We could have prompts, challenges based on genres or specific words.

I have knowledge of how forums work, seeing how I have been part of staff before - though not for a good year or so, I took a much-needed break to get back into the spirit of things. Which is another reason for me wanting to do this, I want to get "back in business". Not only in the actual roleplaying, but behind the scenes.

I have a ridiculous amount of free time, and though it will lessen somewhat this fall, I will no doubt be just as attached to my computer. There will, of course, be periods where I am more busy than others, but I trust that communication will make it all run as smoothly as possible. I primarily use msn, though I have a yahoo account I could revive were it necessary.

Why do you want to be a mod of this board: I am responsible and write myself alot. I have much experience and great spelling and grammar. I am understanding and if I get something wrong I will always try to correct it or make it better than it was. I never give and I'm always determined. I love working with other people and I'm trustworthy.

I'm very vivid in writing myself. I love to read and have read through atleast 100 differend books including the Harry Potter series and InkSpell and InkHeart. I have been staff of different writing guilds and forums and time after time been told to get a book published, and that's what I'm aiming for this summer.

I am always bored and this will give me something to do. I love making creative writing challenges even though I'm usually the one who enters them. I have many creative ideas and love giving people challenges that I may have never even lived up to myself. I start singing and dancing at the thought of going far in the writing world and being sucessful.
