Title: Very Rude.
roleplay - June 21, 2008 01:50 PM (GMT)
I pretty much followed the rules on here. I got the necessary posts , made a few friends, and waited over a week before I asked.
I don't know what I did to deserve being ignored. I have sent two private messages to the staff on here and I am still patiently waiting for a response.. I own my own active forum , so I know what it is to be busy. But it seems when I bumped my thread with a important question, someone had enough time to push it back to page five. That seems pretty disrespectful to me.
So I would really like to ask one more time , what is going on , before I take down the button this forum has asked me to put up in good faith.
Thanks .

First: I'm not staff. Just to be clear.
Bumping your thread in the Directory Submissions forum doesn't bring your thread to the first page; they're sorted by first post date IIRC. So no one moved it.
I'm not going to ask who you pm-d regarding the directory, but when I messaged Puppeteer about a listing I needed removed she was very prompt in responding. Just remember that they might not be able to give you an actual period of time; every submission has to be reviewed individually, and some take more time than others, and there's twelve pages of submissions to get through.

If you pm'ed Kerplanda about it, she hasn't been on for a few days, so that might be the thing. And what stormyhearted said is true, directory submissions are sorted on posting date, posting in a topic won't bump it to the first page. I dunno who you pm'ed, if you pm'ed me, I haven't received anything, if you pm'ed someone else, check their profile to see if they've actually been on since you pm'ed them.
At the moment we're having some staff problems and we haven't enough man power to get the directory sorted out properly. You have to understand that even sorting one advertisements takes up 2 to 5 minutes. So figure out how long it'll take to sort a whole page of submissions.
I am however working on getting everyone back, and we'll probably will hire more new staff members. We need to get ready for summer. In the coming week RPG-D will be updating everything. Further I'm not going to say much about it because I really don't know what we'll do lol.
Roswenth - June 21, 2008 03:08 PM (GMT)
I did send a response to you that Kerplanda was the person to talk to, so saying you received no response from anyone is untrue. I had no access to that directory to begin with, and I am no longer a staff member.

Well Roswenth, you never said you weren't a staff member either.

All I'm saying is it's been 12 days with no response. And I understand your situation regarding lack of manpower. And I don't mind waiting longer, if you need me to wait longer. I'm not being unreasonable, I'm just concerned. After all it does ask that us submitters check back frequently.
But please understand that we have had the RPG-Directory button for over a week now also. And if we're going to wait a few more weeks , then we are entitled to at least receive a warning. I did check all over the forum for a waiting period ,so just to be clear I have been extremely patient already.
Thanks for understanding. And I do appreciate the response.

I'm not a staff member either, just to be clear. Hope its okay that I responded to this. There are a lot of sites waiting to be cleared and submitted to the various directories. While its easy to get impatient and think you've been ignored, in all honesty, its doubtful that its the case.
An RL week is not a long time in RP time I think we have all experienced!. The amount of websites that the staff here has to get through in the submissions area is mind boggling and I don't envy them. When there aren't enough staff, the reality is you have to try and be patient. You've shown in the post above that you understand that too. I'm sure they'll get around to it when they get a chance. Try not to get offended by it. I am aware that I am contradicting a forum topic that I started earlier by posting this, *gg* but its okay since this is actually different from that.

Thats fine. But I have no previous experience with this forum. So I wanted to make sure I added their button for a worthwhile reason.
At least now I know who to ask , if I have any more questions.
ShinLi - June 21, 2008 10:17 PM (GMT)
Even in the directory submissions, advertisements get viewed a lot actually. Just have a look at the pageviews submissions get. You haven't put up that button just for nothing, it's there for a good reason. And really if you remove it now and we do look over your ad, it will get trashed because the button isn't up then :p.
As said before, please be patient. I really truly understand that the backlog is annoying, but we're really working on resolving it. Were working on it behind the scenes (and that's always the part you guys can't see XD).

Alright. I understand.
Thanks for being understanding too.

I just wanted to add to Shin Li's point about people looking at the ads. I post an ad request thing for my newest site on June 12th, and it's got over 40 views since then and it's on the fourth page, about to be bumped to the fifth. So even just posting it in that forum alone gets you hits. So don't worry. Just because it hasn't been sorted or approved, people do still see it. ;) (happy)
