Title: Guilty Gear?

Squirrelsy - June 20, 2008 06:31 AM (GMT)
Most people know about it or have heard of it but haven't really said anything about it. A friend and I were talking about this and she was saying how it's really good on LiveJournal and the like so it got me to wondering. Then she suggested we try and make one and see what happens but only if we can actually get a handful of people. We both know of a few friends that might be interested but I also wanted to see if anyone around here might be intrigued by the idea. Even if people don't know about the game and what not, I could easily make a FAQ or summary of it all. For those of you that don't know about it, it's almost like a sci-fi fighting game but has some really unique characters and species that are called Gears. There's also magic and the like involved. Here's what some of the originality of th characters is.

    - One girl can use her hair as a weapon, able to grow it long and the like no matter how short it gets cut, it can harden, be like a whip, etc.

    - Old samurai chick that's right arm can be used as a grapple, blade, etc, due to mechanics.

    - Air pirates! The captain is the only male of the grew and is basically like a pimp though he simply just takes in orphaned girls ( no he's not a pedophile as he often hits on women that are not apart of his crew ) and actually has a pretty good heart, when he's not clowning around.

    - One man is possessed by several spirits ( one being named Sadako like from The Ring ) and is constantly forgetful.

    - Grim reaper type man that's actually an android and is able to summons spirits/demons to his aid.

Etc. etc. There's many more characters and of course, OCs would be accepted as the canon list wouldn't be all too lengthy ( plus I hate forums that don't offer up OCs. >/ )

So, if anyone's interested, please let me know. We don't want to start on something that won't get much attention and be a big let down but it's a very awesome game that shouldn't be laid to waste like most others ( Resident Evil, Dead or Alive, Kingdom Hearts, etc. )

I'm sure anyone who's interested in modern sci-fi, magic, originality, humor and fighting, creative stories, and the like would really adore this idea but that's just me hoping/praying.

Feedback, ideas, suggestions, and all that are encouraged!

Oh god! Why would you unleash Bridget on an unsuspecting populus? WHY? You'll only kill the straightness out of people!

Please! Most of these players are pure! They play highschool and college and Harry Potter! They don't need the brain hemmoraging psychotic glory of Possessed shadows and horrible monsters with bags over their heads and Rock-and-roll witches! They can't handle it!

I beg of you! Nooooo!!!

(I'd totally play)

Rofl. What makes this challenging is that it's from a video game thus it would be a tad bit harder to get their personality down. I, personally, have been roleplaying as Dizzy for a few years now. I've got a few friends that's opting to play as Sol, Ky, and I-no. All the characters within the game are likely to be available, such as Raven, all of the Jellyfish Pirates, Sharon ( Slayer's.. ..lover? ), even Kliff and Justice ( which will be limited to just flashback roleplay since they're.. ya know.. dead.. )

Witches, school drama, and mutant roleplays would have nothing on this. ;D

Um, this would be AWESOME. I'd love to RP as I-no (ADORE her) or Zappa (that poor, poor man :P).

Squirrelsy, I agree that the game could definitely carry an appeal that reaches beyond fans of the source material. As you said, just write up an FAQ, and all systems are go!

NO HATING ON BRIDGET, MAN. UNCOOL.

I'd totally join o__O; The only reserve I could think of is that generally, video game-to-RPGs don't go over very well because people have super high expectations, and people who don't know the series are unlikely to join.

Squirrelsy - June 24, 2008 01:23 AM (GMT)
All right! Well, I guess we'll give this a go and see how it works out. If any of you have any characters you want reserved ( just one for now please ), lemme know. So far, Dizzy, Sol, Ky, I-No, and Millia are reserved.

Also, if you'd like to be on the staff, let me know either here or in pm. It's just me heading the forum right now but i have a friend that's offering to do the graphics and what not. =)

Oh! What if all the characters are taken (or no one wants to be that character)?

I'm VERY interested in joining a GG forum.

nouveaucaine - June 24, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
Damn, I-no's already taken? In that case, I'll reserve Zappa ;)

Squirrelsy - June 24, 2008 03:13 AM (GMT)
Sorry, Nouv. But if the person that wants to rp as her doesn't come along or so, you'll be the first to know. =)

There's going to be a very long list of characters- almost all the canons in fact, including the Jellyfish Pirates, such as July, August, March, etc. ( Yes, they're all named after months, even Dizzy ( December ).

Zappa is reserved however! As for the characters that might not really get taken, such as Raven and minor characters. They can always be NPC'd or something. That Man also will not be available as his story is still very shady, therefore we can't pinpoint his motives.

The plot, however, will be something entirely made up ( which will also encourage OCs. )

I love the idea but I kind of wonder how it'll work out. O_o

Squirrelsy - June 24, 2008 05:33 AM (GMT)
    Sure~ Bridget = reserved!

Omelet-kun - June 24, 2008 05:47 AM (GMT)
Awesome. Now I gotta read up some lore, since Bridget isn't necessary my favorite character from the franchise, Faust is. <3

Also, if I may, t i l t makes a good point about vyda game role-plays. It pains me so. ;_;

Guilty Gear is a very complex series. Heck, I didn't even know what in the world was going on and while the players were fighting and the like, but I managed to find a site that explained everything. Hopefully, I can find it again and use it on the forum since it really broke things down.

I'm going to try my best to make it as series-stranger-friendly as best I can.

Omelet-kun - June 24, 2008 06:15 AM (GMT)
I hope you'll find that site again. :3

Squirrelsy - June 24, 2008 08:20 PM (GMT)
I managed to find another site that had the same stuff. The forum's been set up and all that's left to do is give further information and supply some other stuff ( such as an app. form ), graphics, and a staff. If you're interested in the latter, please go here. :3

    Job Request for GGA.

Squirrelsy - July 2, 2008 06:18 PM (GMT)
We're ready to rock! ;D

Anyone still interested?

Sling - July 3, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
I am. Problem is, it won't send me my validation email.

Squirrelsy - July 3, 2008 06:44 AM (GMT)
I have it set to where I have to check and validate people just so we don't have random people coming along and making up weird or advertising names. For now, OCs aren't being accepted but they will as soon as a handful of canons are taken.
