Title: Another Plagiarism Problem
Description: three words: i am angry

So, there was this board, which was quite good and active for two/three months, then it died (some when around April).
A week or two ago, I found that another site which was based on the same book steals the canon list, which was, well, pretty and well organized, had everything we wanted to know etc…

So I went to their cbox and asked them politely to credit the admins.
You can already guess the main admin reaction, said that she didn’t steal it, blah, blah. I even gave her he link for her to compare and said that there were only one or two things that they changed. (and it was small things, like the age)
But she refused to admit, and then the bloody member started attacking me and that the canon lists for that book were all the same and etc… I swear that canon list could look a bit like others (it was a HP site, canon lists look alike because the characters are always the same and stuff), but there are things that proves that it was made for the original posters, for example, imagine that in the original site there was a canon character called Damien Yaxley.

In the other site there was another canon called Damien Yaxley, and you tell me you didn’t steal it? Oh, please! Don’t insult my intelligence, I was in that site and know how the anon list was and how the characters were named!

I would really appreciate any advices. I go to their cbox everyday and tell them to credit, saying that it isn’t theirs, etc… I know that one I’ll have several of mi IP’s blocked, etc… but I can’t give up either, since I can’t stand plagiarism, for example, anyone that does it in my sites, gets always banned.

They said that they had found it in another site, but I proved them it was originally posted there, so they should credit that site! Gah. I know it’s only a canon list, but… I don’t know, their lack of respect make them want to make their cbox a living hell.

Thanks for reading, and forgive any bad grammar since I’m too upset to think right now. Thanks.

Obviously through the c-box isn't working, so don't keep doing that. I've had this problem, though they had stolen my canon list, my plot, my forum descriptions, and my sidebar, layout, among other little things... And even though I had proof that their whole site was basically stolen, the admins and members still cussed me out and said it was "no big deal." So, I finally had to PM the girl and told her something like "Look, I know you're going to deny it in front of your members, but we BOTH know you blatantly stole everything from my site. If you don't take it down [or in your case, give credit] then I will report you to InvisionFree and I will make sure your site gets closed down. End of story."

If one tactic isn't working, then move on to another one. Don't just give up; it's your property, and if you don't want other people using it, it is your right to tell them to take it down.

You know what? You are right, I will do that, I will sign up like a normal member but instead of applying, I will talk to the girl. Thank you.

Just one thing, that happened in Proboards, the rules are almost the same there right? That is the first time that is happening in PB, so I don't know lol. I'll will reread their rules and all that stuff again, but if anyone knows, I will appreciate your help.

Something similar happened to me....there was an active admin/mod team of which I was one and we contibuated a LOT for the forums...maps, and plots, and this and that....then the board was shut down by the owner but he left the stuff up so folks could take their stuff.

Well a admin and some mods started a new board and offered the admins they left out mod jobs and took nearly everything...NO credit to ANY one other than a note about the parent board.

And they seemed shocked when I turned down the mod job.

Sometimes I want to crash their wiki and say...this is mine, this is his, none of you came up with this thingie...but I don't. Because while personally miffed the point of the board was for the members and they are still rocking along happily, and that was the point in the first place.

Not saying that you shouldn't do something, such as contact Proboards.

Wikis can't be crashed.

All vandalism is easily reverted.

If you attempt to crash a wiki, expect to be banned and ridiculed by the members of that wiki.

That's like the number one rule of wiki conflict resolution.
