The Menagerie has only been around for 6 months but it seems we're growing rapidly.

I am the site creator and am very interested in affiliating with other, quality RPGs or RPG relared sites with a sincere focus on player enjoyment.

The Menagerie is a play by post RPG that doesn't restrict itself to a specific genre and encourages people to try any type of character.

We are not 'freeform' per se, we have a GM ran combat system, many disciplines that characters can choose to study and a plethora of universal skills and other features to make your character truly individual.

Our site is for all ages, though teens and upward are our base demographic. We incorporate many RPG staples from classical and famous systems, whilst retaining our own identity as a stand alone system.

Storylines on our site vary greatly and we try to have a player focused bent on all adventures ran. With open source material there really is no guessing what you may get yourself into next!

Short Info about the Board: SoN is a modern horror role-playing board that is now in its third lifespan. We closed for the holidays last year and re-opened perhaps a couple months ago. The game takes place in the fictional city of Grensvale, New Jersey and accepts any and all races of savage horror including Vampires, Werewolves, Lycanthropes, Demons, Angels, Shifters, Witches and much, much more. If you enjoy adult settings with intriguing and realistic storylines, this game is for you.
Additional Notes: We already have over 15 active members and 20+ active characters. We're just nigh of full swing so if you're looking for a good, solid game to join, SoN is your best bet.

By the way, how did you get so many members, and active ones, in just 6 months? Really, I'd love to know. I haven't gotten half that many in over a year.

We have plenty of inactive members and it seems that ANY rpg forum seems to have 1 in 4/5 retention of new members. I've looked everywhere and some of the highest rated play by post sites and everyone shows the same number.

Our game is generally quick paced and driven by the players. The GMs can only fast as the players can keep up, we don't like to bog down and play out an adventure over weeks. Still happens, but we have different systems and rules for different format of play.

I would say that my success thus far is due to two things - pursuit of getting exposure and trying to make everyone happy. There's something for everyone regardless of their interests and our admin are approachable. I've had very little trouble with problematic members.

The other factor which I am really appreciative of is our players. They are great for getting new people in. You make people happy, let them have a fun time and they're much more likely to bring you more members.

The site is always open to new people and whilst we may not be perfect with seeing to everyone's needs; the entire board loved new peopel joining. Lots of help from everyone and a fair measure of patience goes a long way ;).

Oh, and the colorful look helps. Have to get someone interested in the first few seconds they look at your site or they simply won't stick around to read anything.

The button is an animated gif and was made by one of our members for a competition. The poem is part of a much larger poem he wrote for our library.

This is a bump after what seems like forever! The Menagerie has recently upgraded to Phpbb3 and we've also completely changed our game! (Still waiting on a portal mod.)\
