My older sister, she is everything I've ever wanted to be. Actress, beautiful singer, happy, got good grades in school, popular... everything.

blossomgirl101 - April 19, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
My brother, mom, and Marie Curie. My brother for his thoughts on being strong and standing up for yourself. He is just a great student too, which gives me much pressure, he got a scholarship award in jr. high. Also how much he cares for everyone. My mom, she is sooo kind, nice, and has taught me everything about having good character and being a good person. And Marie Curie, for all of her successes! ^_^

persuationxx - April 19, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)

mi padre! he's been through a lot in his life, and gets
through it all the best he can and keeps his head up
high! that's an amazing thing to be able to do, imo.

Mimizi - April 19, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
I <3 Noel

As for me though, I would have to say my number one Idol (excluding my parents, but that would be too cliche) is Jonathan Larson - the writer and creator of RENT who sadly died of marfan syndrome just before the shows opening.

samaside - April 20, 2008 04:02 AM (GMT)
Professor Rholf, Stephen King, and Fox Mulder are my heroes.

Mousie - April 20, 2008 04:07 AM (GMT)
PETER COOMBE!

A children's entertainer of my childhood... but he never left his fans! He still plays for us... in pubs now. We can drink, and listen to our favourite songs from when we were three.

That is cool.

SpazzyMal - April 20, 2008 06:42 AM (GMT)
Wonder Woman. The woman's got high morals, man, and she sticks with it. Maybe it's lame to hold a comic character in such high regard, but she was intended to be a good rolemodel, so whatever.

She stands for always being truthful, even when it would be far easier not to be.

She stands for working to make the world a better place for everyone, for making a paradise where everyone is equal.

She stands for being yourself above all else, but constantly bettering yourself at the same time.

She stands for mercy and kindness, and so much more.

Basically, she believes in everything that I believe in, so I loves her. :pink:

ToxicG - April 20, 2008 08:13 AM (GMT)
hehehehe! Mine's a comicbook hero too!

Jean Grey.

She is everything...

She's the den mother of all mutants, the sane one, the crazy one, the strong one, the weak one, the lover, the sister, the friend.

She is what everyone needs when they need it.

She gives all of herself time and time again, and takes when it's time.

She's balance and life, and fire...

She's been my only hero/mentor since I was at least 9 years old...

EDIT: I rambled on so much in this, so feel completely free to skip this one when reading through this topic.

My grandparents are probably my biggest heroes. My grandpa was a POW in WWII, and he's overcome a heck of a lot to take care of his family. I love that despite all he's been through, he's the best grandpa a girl could ask for- he taught me to golf, and I helped him with the garden when I was younger. He's taking care of my grandma full-time now, and I love him for it. My grandma moved with her single mother from a farm to a factory up north during the Depression in the '30s because they needed money, and she had to drop out of school at 13 to do that. She's one of the strongest people I know, and even though she's really ill now, she still goes to church every Sunday and has really inspired me in my faith.

Lady Hikari - April 21, 2008 12:26 AM (GMT)
This took lots of thought but I believe my best friend is the focus of my heroism. She is a sixteen year old that has had so many things go wrong in her life. Yet, she still continues to live on. She gives others advice when it is needed. She's always there to cheer you up even when you don't feel like you deserve it. She's amazing and way more mature for her age. She makes me proud. And most of the time, it's like she's the older one when I am actually 4 years older.

RomanHk - April 21, 2008 01:08 AM (GMT)
I actually don't have any or at least, I don't think I do. I've never looked at anyone and thought that I might want to be like them or was particularly inspired by them. I must be weird.

AshBeanNun - April 21, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
My maternal grandmother. She's a queen, she's Mary Poppins, she's a southern belle and a smart-talking Northerner all rolled into one. Her father was an alcoholic who was abusive towards her mother. She took it upon herself to join a church and bring her sisters with her, and her parents followed. She married a rocket scientist and had four kids; despite her rough childhood she grew up into an intelligent, practical, and kind woman, a woman who lends her granddaughter books about famous women and records of musicals and bakes her Marmee rolls. I loved the times we spent the night at her house when we were little, playing dress-ups and making outfits out of her scarves and putting on her jewelry before we cut out sugar cookies and sat down to watch The Land Before Time. Her house was always spotless and she had a basement full of grandpa's old typewriters and radio equipment and prehistoric laptops, which my sister and I would use on our imaginary space ship.

I don't think there's anything Marmee can't do. Open heart surgery didn't slow her down (not for long, at least. ). She can sew anything from a prom dress to a carpet bag to a curtain, she makes fantastic meals, and she's very easy to talk to. It's not like with my mom, where if I talk to her about a sensitive issue I'm liable to break down into tears because she's an expert at the 'mother look.' Marmee is a very fortifying person. I always feel better after talking to her. And she tells great stories, like what women had to do when they got their period and how she used to steal this plastic lining off the trolleys in Baltimore to make headbands.

*rambles and gets sentimental*

King Leonidas. Those of you who dont know who King Leonidas is, he was a King of Sparta who lead a small army of Athenians and Spartans against over 300 thousand persians adn they killed nearly two thirds of Xerxe's army.

The_Mastermime - April 21, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
Grant Morrison, He is my idol because I am insanley jealous of his talent!

For those of you who dont know him read the seven soldiers of victory and 52 graphic novels, I cried when the Ralph Dibney arc finished!

Sunday - April 22, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
My mom. : ) She juggles a stressful job, college, and all the dirty work in the family -- which is pretty damn impressive. <3

Bellatrix Lestrange - July 8, 2008 03:21 AM (GMT)
besides my family.. "MIKE SHINODA"

Meredith - July 8, 2008 04:12 AM (GMT)
JK Rowling. I know it's cheesy, but someone who has given that much passion to her readers is someone who inspires me. She made me want to write. Also Anderson Cooper.

Klomonx - July 8, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
If I go into a big ol' rant about my hero, I really doubt those reading this topic will want to read me rant.

My dad, is my hero. He's funny, smart, tall (he's six feet, six inches), and he's the one who pretty much answers any and all my questions on myths, history, and really anything.

Besides my family, I have two heroes.
Edgar Allan Poe, and though I could really go on in a really...big..and..long rant I'll say it plainly that Poe was a great writer, and made his living-though poor all during it-just by writing. Besides my family, it is Poe who has pushed me to want to be a writer. Also, because Poe would sometimes write for fifteen hours a day, and that alone is a great accomplishment to me. *many other reasons are omitted*

Also, I'd like to make my other hero(s) pretty much all the same in their root, namely Sherlock Holmes-and then Poe's detective who pre-dated him, Auguste Dupin, and also, the man who was Sherlock Holmes-and even Doyle admitted this-is Dr. Bell, who had the talents of observation that Holmes had-only as a doctor. Another reason why Holmes is one of my heroes-he can play the violin, which really wants me to actually go to tune mine and re-train myself to play it.

Mousie - July 8, 2008 05:06 AM (GMT)
Goodness.

Paul McDermott... he's just too awesome. Joy Dettman, a brilliant writer. Ditto for Terry Pratchett.

But still. Paul. XD

blackcatluvr - July 8, 2008 05:45 AM (GMT)
Umm....honestly. No clue.

I don't have a hero/idol. None. Not my parents, that's for sure...maybe my dad actually. I dunno. *sigh*

I don't idolize people. I can admire, but not idolize.

I admire my friend because he totally rocks and he accepts me for who I am. I admire my parents because they have done so much for me even when I'm a complete jerk. I admire my older sister because she's funny and independent. I admire my little sister, too, because she's so determined.

I idolize Jesus Christ.

Mousie, just idolise Paul from afar, and your bubble will never have to burst.

But I can understand idolising him for his insane amount of talent across a wide range of fields. That's just crazy and wrong. Like, most of us are lucky to be good at one or two things, and then people like him are awesome at, what, five?!

You know he has a painting in the National Art Gallery?

Radsos - July 8, 2008 06:48 PM (GMT)
Stephen Lynch.

I am into stand-up comedy and the only reason I ever want to learn how to play guitar and sing is so I can be like him. I don't care if he's cruel or idiotic at all! He's too damn funny for me to care!

Oh, and Anthony Rapp. Good singer, decent acting, and a pretty good writer too. (He's in my avveh.)

Much <3 to them both.

and then go club some baby seals"

lmao ^_^

Yea, Kurt Cobain deffinatly.. hes not my idol, but I deffinatly admire him in many ways

Atricea - August 9, 2008 05:42 PM (GMT)
Steve Irwin was and always will be my hero... I've always been very fond of animals and his methods are the best I've seen so far. His zoo is amazing, his daughter is his spittin' image and Steveo may be dead, but he will never be truly gone from a whole lot of hearts including mine. I've never cried so much over a person who died, that I didn't know, as I cried over him :innocent:

I guess my parents are another set of heroes, they've both experienced and done so much and I'm glad to be their daughter. They've nearly been married for 40 years, my father has been a sailor and many other things, and my mother constantly has new hobbies and learns new things. They're both over 60 now, but still amazing people with great stories and experiences behind them and hopefully many to come too :)

xRagdoll - August 9, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
I wasnt the biggest Steve Irwin fan... but its still a loss.

Bernie Mac past away today.. Im completely shocked

BLIX. - August 9, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
I have three people who really stand out in my mind.

Terry Pratchett, who I think someone else just said, the man is a word genius.
Charlie Chaplin, who I thank for modern cinema being as awesome as it is. Props to Sir Chaplin on that.
And lastly Tim Burton who isn't afraid to stand out in a crowd and do things people tell him will fail miserably, and then go right ahead and prove them wrong.

infamousBEAUTY* - August 11, 2008 09:57 AM (GMT)

K, so my idol isn't exactly a real person. She's a character in a show, but nonetheless, she's still my idol :] Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. I absolutely adore her. She's an intelligent, classy, independant, and strong woman, and I love her! :] Marilyn Monroe is also one of my favorites.

Famous For Nothing - August 11, 2008 11:45 AM (GMT)
Well, excluding my parents and fictional characters....Kurt Cobain,he was an amazing writer. He was a awesome fatehr. His music playing skills where genious. No matter how much he messed up in life, you can tell by his songs that he didnt want kids following in his foot steps.and Kevin smith...best director ever...all there is to it.

failia - August 26, 2008 02:24 PM (GMT)
My dad (:

He was an extremely caring individual that put others before him and loved his family more than anything else in the whole world. He was an excellent artist and could've worked for Disney if he had lived longer. Ugh, there's so much more but I can't put it in words

So yeah. He's my hero.
