Title: Black And Navy Blue

December, Esq - April 15, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
I've been wondering this for years.

radtardedx - April 15, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
I think it's fine :p
Then again I'd wear anything..

.Ra - April 15, 2008 10:26 PM (GMT)
My mom swears that black matches everything so I always pair black with all sorts of colors.

xkapow - April 16, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
Yep. After all, black supposedly goes with anything. Though I think black and orange looks too halloween-y and black and yellow looks too much like a bumblebee.

Sunday - April 16, 2008 01:09 AM (GMT)
Noooo! Black + navy blue is bad, ickkk. But not as bad as black and brown. -shudders-

Rokkan - April 16, 2008 01:17 AM (GMT)
Yes, it's fine.

Just don't CSS-skin them...

Ariana - April 16, 2008 01:18 AM (GMT)
Too much neutral! I can think of very few instances where that would actually work...
I'm with Sunday on this one, especially about the black/brown thing.

You have to do it right, is the thing.

Navy shoes+black dress=NOOOOOOOOOO! *dies*

Navy zip-up hoodie+black t-shirt underneath=yes! Tolerable!

Mixing it in small amounts, like wearing a navy accessory with a black outfit/shirt/whatnot, is much better looking than an all out only wearing those two colors.

RomanHk - April 16, 2008 04:35 AM (GMT)
I think esterni has it right. It really depends on what you're matching up in those colors.

On another note, I think someone needs to keep Dec away from the poles, I mean polls.

December, Esq - April 16, 2008 04:48 AM (GMT)
Gosh darn it, polls are fun!

Yeah, I was wearing black pants and a navy t-shirt today, but I had to change. I couldn't bear it. >_<

Mousie - April 16, 2008 04:52 AM (GMT)
Meep... Mousie was not even aware this was an awful thing to do.

And Sunday.. I'm sorry! I swear, I'll never wear black and brown again! *hides*

Totally agree. I actually bought a navy blue purse with black patent leather details, and it's super cute, I got lots of compliments on it. but yeah, black pants + navy blue shirt =/= fashionable. :[

@Mal: I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOU. SORRY, WE CAN'T BE FRIENDS ANYMORE.

Lawl. So basically, it's fiiiine, so long as no one can see you're wearing black and navy blue together. Except maybe a hint of collar...That's ok!

I think it looks...bad when you're doing the non-coat thing. Coats you can get away with in any colour as they're not a 'permanent' fixture on your day's wear. These two colours are too close and it always, always, always looks like you got dressed in the dark like you meant to wear blue/blue but got black/blue, or something.

December, Esq - April 16, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
The most I can do is wear black pants and a navy sweatshirt. Anything more and I feel gross--and this is coming from someone who falls into the closet and wears whatever she happens to come out wearing.

Buuut my sisters disagree. They say that black and navy are perfectly acceptable. They think that brown and black are nasty, and I have to agree that in many circumstances they are; but sometimes they look pretty darn good.

I completely agree with this. : )

I would try and stay away from it. But, brown + black = horrid.

Mimizi - April 19, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
I really can't see anything wrong with black and navy, although black paired with brown on the other hand is enough to make me want to gouge my eyes out.
