Title: First Forum you ever joined

ShinLi - July 1, 2006 10:25 AM (GMT)
Well, you must've started somewhere? A lot of people here have their own forum. But you mostly don't start up with making your own forum. You mostly joined boards before you actually make one yourself.

And so, where did you started? Was it on a general forum, an RP forum, Invisionfree, Proboards, or something else? Did you even knew what a forum was then? And why did you join up there?

Don't just post one sentence, but 'tell' about it.

la-harlequin - July 1, 2006 10:32 AM (GMT)
The first forum I ever joined was a Harry Potter RPG annd it was a general one without a plot :) There were oly about 10 of us there but we were all extremey active and it was soooooo much fun before the admin shut it down. Sure, all I ever posted were infuriating one liners, but everyone else was new too, so it worked.

fatal-fate - July 1, 2006 12:13 PM (GMT)
Actually, believe it or not, the first forum I ever joined was one I made. It didn't start off too well, but it got pretty good after a while. It was about 3 years ago, and I was looking for Diablo II strategies, and found a bunch of forums with not much on it. Yeah, they had good strategies, but not a whole lot, and didn't have much of a community. So I started my own. When it died out after a few months, it had about 200 members, and around 800 posts. Not bad for a first board.

Melly - July 1, 2006 12:50 PM (GMT)
HogwartsDreamRP

I first joined HDRP last summer, I think in early July, we were what I would call advanced one-liners. Sure we posted one-liners but from time to time there were posts which were longer, usually 3-5 lines aswell.

We had great people, great characters which I still love and kind-of miss. The funny thing is, I had an extremely anoying character, in fact I refuse to use her again (atleast for the timebing) she really did annoy everyone.... We started out on Proboards and then moved onto Invisionfree.

Hmm... what else? Oh yes, I found them through ShinLi's siggy at Godrics Hollow, it took weeks for me to actually sign up, but once I did I loved it (I would think I did, especially since I haven't been able to get rid of ShinLi since.... ^_^ )

ShinLi - July 1, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
Hehe, you'll never get rid of me Melly. I just pulled you into helping me with my new HP RPG again XD.

Anyway, the first forum I joined up was an HP RPG. I think I've been browsing through google or something and was looking for Harry Potter images when I stumbled over this Harry Potter RPG on proboards. I had no clue what RP'ing was, so I quickly found it out. I joined up there and we had some fun there. The admin, was a bastard. It was really annoying, I liked to RP, but this guy was never there. Yep, I was a bitch then already, not satisfied with how the board looked and I constantly suggested things to be improved. After a week or so he thought I should be an admin. But he never gave me admin powers.

Another member there got annoyed of it as well, and so we started pm'ing eachother and eventually decided to make our own. And so we did. I got this idea to see what this proboards actually was (I had no idea that it was a free forum host). So I signed up with a board, and made this other member, Lonneke my co- admin. It worked out great :D. That is where Melly joined up as well I suppose. Although my board was created around May I suppose.

So yeh, I created my own forum after only joining up on one forum beforehand. (well two actually, because I joined up at the PB support).

Insomnium - July 1, 2006 02:03 PM (GMT)
I started at a place called RPG-Online, which recently closed down. I knew what a forum was just from glancing at them before. RPG-O was a PHPBB forum. I joined because it looked like fun. I remember I joined on Christmas Eve as Rainsparrow and had so much fun, that I stuck around for quite a while.

I made some friends there and when it closed down, we moved on to make another site, which is going great. I learned a lot at RPG-O and I miss it. But that's all right, I still RP with the buddies I made there and it's still a lot of fun.

Latios1717 - July 1, 2006 02:27 PM (GMT)
The first board I joined was also a Harry Potter RPG. It was called Hogwarts Kids and had about 50-80 members before it died. You can still go there... but it is completely dead. My username on there was SirCadogan. I was pretty nervous about joining at first... but I eventually got the hang of it. It was fun while it lasted... but it died completely around April of this year.

ginny_harry1 - July 1, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
I used to be on a free-form Harry Potter RP. There were tons of members and someone was always on. It eventully got closed down but looking back at it is a little funny. Everyone was creating unnessary and stupid unrealistic drama and using constant one liners. It was a lot of fun at the time though.

Andy - July 1, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
The first board I remember joining had an URL with 'Luthien Tinuviel' in it, but I think was called Dol Amroth Roleplay. For those of you who know your names... That makes it obvious it was a LOTR roleplay. It was interesting while it was active, there was many members and tonnes of posts, there was always people online. Many of the members were very interesting people and I found that there were still other people in the world like me who were sad enough to learn elven languages lol.

At the time I was simply searching through google for material to read about LOTR and I found that site. I was also in a rather long lasting mood and situation at home where I liked to read fantasy as an 'escape' from life, a window to elsewhere. So the idea of actually making plots of my own with others intrigued me and got me to join ^_^

I eventually made a couple of my own, but after a while turned to vampire RPs for a while...

photine - July 1, 2006 05:51 PM (GMT)
Oh the first forum O__O. The first one I ever joined was a Rupert Grint Fan message board type thing-- yeah, haha as lame as that sounds. I still blame it for sucking me into all things online (and thereby making me addicted to the internet). The first RP forum I ever joined though was Envious Magic (so I guess that was my second board?), and I'm still a member so I suppose it's done a good job :P.

Mortal - July 1, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
Oh, my gosh, memories. It actually took me a long while to get into roleplaying. The first forum I joined was something called "Digimon Lab". That must've been years ago. There was a roleplaying board there on the forum where I did start roleplaying. I was only seven there, so, yeah, nothing that great. Did a lot of Digimon discussing, though, my memory of it is fuzzy. I don't think my posts amounted to anything beyond "the jello is yellow". I can't remember the first strictly roleplaying oriented site I joined. Could've been "Destiny's End", this DBZ RPG, but I'm really not sure, sorry. :dead:

Copper - July 1, 2006 08:19 PM (GMT)
My first board was Neopets >>

My first REAL board was a hyperboard (proboard rippoff) wolf roleplay called Wolfpeak. it was fun, but overly dramatic. it was my first roleplay fight, fighting to defend my wolfs best friend, and I haven't fought since then, despite my 5 years of roleplay.

Please remember using capitals.

citrus - July 1, 2006 11:08 PM (GMT)
The first forum I joined was a Harry Potter RPG called...Static Hogwarts. :D Two years ago. It was pretty stupid sometimes because everyone went around making one-liners and some even posted in first person. It was a mess...but I love it nevertheless. lol. Then it got closed down 'cause the admin/owner went missing for about three months. It's quite funny 'cause some memebers even tried hacking into the site so we could get it going but it never happened. So what some other members did was start a sequel site...but it was never succesfull...

Chrisdood - July 3, 2006 02:13 AM (GMT)
The first RPG I joined (two years ago) was a Harry Potter RPG, only because I was (still am) obssessed over Harry Potter.

Kayla - July 14, 2006 07:33 AM (GMT)
The first forum I ever joined was W.I.T.C.H. fan boards; I was amazed at it. :P: Then RPG, that would be an unprofessional RPG board. Now I notice the difference.

Horsecrzy721 - July 14, 2006 08:07 AM (GMT)
Harry Potter one liner role play found in a myspace group! ^_^ It was my very first role play, but I caught on quick. Its still open, but it loses its shine once you start to get to know the inner workings and the admin thinks she's so professional because they have their own web site and they make it uber complicated to sign up and get situated, its insaine. It was fun before that though, we had some quirky plots going on and I actually liked the one liners, then again at that time I didn't know the difference. Ah well, its still open and for the sake of reminicing, I went to go check it out, its still as impersonal as ever, but some of the people I knew are still there. Chauncey still think's she's amazing and everything and everything is kept a secret still, you will not know a single thing about the board unless you sign up, its such bs. Ah well, I had some disagreements with them and left, it was sad, but I'm glad I did it. I'm itching to post the link, but I don't think I should....

Drodcyne - July 15, 2006 02:13 AM (GMT)
The White Ferret (TWF for short)

well the first rpg I ever joined was a very active harry potter rpg named The White Ferret. It is very active but surely is just a general rpg where there is no plot per say. I found it off mugglenet.com aand surely enough I went to the links page and was sitting at my computer in awe when I first set eyes on it. I was a noob there but I got comfortable with the very basic rules she had set up. And so when all had to go and were to move to a new and improved TWF I was forever waiting. I seemed like forever untill I finally figured out the link to the forum. TWF is still up and running and is currently in my thinkings the best harry potter rpg ever. And just a few days agao an admin had to go and leave us. How sad. And now for me the forum is giving me trouble with accessing the forums.

Hogwarts Unleashed - July 16, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
The first forum I ever joined was a Six Flags site. As a roller coaster loves, I was looking for pictures from Fright fest and I stumbled upon this site, entitles SFGAmWorld (which stands for Six Flags great America. Unfortunatley, everyone on the forum was rally immature so I moved myself to a better coaster site (Midwest Coaster madness) and am definatley happier there. Hooray for Roller coaters!

The first RPG I joined, however, was the RPG that was at CoSforums.com. This RPG has since shut down but that was the most fun RPG I was ever on. I miss those guys.

Max Power - July 16, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
If I remember correctly, the first forum I joined was a Harry Potter Book Fan one. It wasn't very big and it didn't last very long. Maybe about three months. However, it was enough to get me hooked on forums. Usually Hogwart type role-play ones. After that I joined a star wars one and then some other random ones that I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure they're all closed down now.

Charity Smythe - July 16, 2006 07:54 PM (GMT)
Elysium University. It was an RP based on a magical school (very different from Harry Potter though) and it was really active until the admin closed it. Geh :P

False Reality - July 17, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)
First forum? Well, that was April 17th, 2005 at Gamespot.com. ^^;; I joined at first for hints on games and for more features because if you're a member, there's more features to see and use. I started posting in the game forums around two tothree days after joining.

But my first RP forum was at forums.furuba.com

There was a small forum dedicated to RPing and I checked it out and immediately got interested and joined.

After that I joined some more RPs, and ta-da! Here I am now. ;D

Arianne Stark - July 17, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
Man... memories. The first ever RP that I joined was when I was ten, and it was Dragonriders of Pern. But it wasn't really a board, and few of the RPs lasted more than a couple of months. So I rotated a lot.

But the first actual board? Virtual Hogwarts. I was either thirteen or fourteen, and I was just browsing around a fanfiction site, and saw the advertisement. I was a member of the first "class," and it was a blast. It was what really got me hooked on Harry Potter RPs... Shame that RL issues kept me out of it. Anyways, the first group was all pretty closely knit, in comparison to some of the RP groups that I've seen. Or at least, I thought we were.

secret_soul - July 17, 2006 07:36 PM (GMT)
The very first forum I ever joined was the mugglenet fanfiction boards because I needed a beta. I was terribly inactive because I discovered HPFF and then The Dark Arts - a graphics board. My first RP was a notourious one-liner board full of Mary Sues with no plot at all. It did have loads of members though...

photoshop_girl_ - July 18, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
My first forum was a Star Wars RPG. It was really amazing, but it ended up dieing.

jamaloo - July 18, 2006 03:08 AM (GMT)
first one i joined was a neopets guild board in i think 2004? yeah. it was horirble. i was such a mary sue. <3 everyone was super nice and most of us still keep in touch. the plot, i have on a newer site, except i cut down on te mary sue ness and made it for more experienced roleplayers. i still have the link.

Meg Cabot Book Club. It was my home for about the first, like, eight or nine months of 2005. I made friends, I was part of fights, I lost friends, I created stories that shall never be finished....sigh. Those were the days, they were. Now, the MCBC isn't what it used to be. -sobs-

That happened with me at my first forum, too. I was so into it, and then it just...falls. It seems our perfect forum becomes the next "forum garbage". *sobs with you*

Indigo - July 19, 2006 11:03 AM (GMT)
An ancient HP fan board. It was a proboards one, it wasn't terribly active, and the admin soon after abandoned it. Shame, really. I liked it.

mysticsea - July 20, 2006 03:25 AM (GMT)
I THINK I'm remembering correctly.. I Think it was Hamena.org, a site for fanfiction and fanart and a forum for Haruka and Michiru of Sailor Moon fans. I loved it there. Always thought I'd always be there. I'm not know. Who woulda thunk it?

flawed.Perfection - July 20, 2006 02:42 PM (GMT)
The first forum I joined was Mischeif Managed - yes, with the misspelled name and all. I found the link to it on Quizilla and I thought it looked interesting. When I joined, I thought that I wouldn't be active. But, it was summer and I was bored. So, I went back the next day and the next day and the next day, etc. And I met some awesome people <3  Anyway, the site is still active, after a year and about 3 months. I consider it my home, no matter how many roleplay sites I may join, or create, I seem to always come back to this one. *tear*

drendoynk - July 22, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
The first forum I ever joined was HP.com about 4 or 5 years ago, back when it was awesome, really awesome

Kiss the xx Dork - July 22, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
First one I joined was about two years ago, A Harry Potter rpg called 'Hoggywartz'

Shoresome - July 24, 2006 04:13 PM (GMT)
I cannot remember the first forum I actually joined, because my introduction to online RPGs is mostly a blur, but I do have a distinct impression of the first well-run one that I ended up on. It was and is a general freeform fantasy board, that apparently started out as a yahoo group. When I first arrived at it there were many players who, like the current me, entertained ideas of becoming writers and strove to make their topics into true stories. It was always a treat to read their topics, but I'm afraid I was still quite poor by comparison to them at the time...and I think some may still be better than I am now, but I will always remember then. There was one very, very memorable topic that was utterly random that I still talk about with one of the people left over from that era of the board. Inch high drunken gnomes attempting to take over a tavern full of humans...we would still have the topic to read, but the ezboard hack, last summer I think it was, killed the topic. Ah well...and that is the story of the 'first' board I have a distinct impression of. I'm still on it, somehow a moderator now and helping out even if I don't RP much on it anymore.

MishMoo - July 25, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
I started out on Neopets =O. It was an HP Guild and we made a little RP section. What's odd is that I actually wrote paragraphs there, but when I went to my next site, Harry Potter Universe (HPU) I wrote only one paragraph and then when I went to other sites... it was even less. At [PP] Beauxbatons (second generation for those that know what I'm talking about), I began with one liners. Haha, but now I'm back up to paragraphs. So yeah, Neopets > HPU > [PP] Beauxbatons and a bunch of other sites > [PP] Hogwarts > Into the Pensieve > Other random sites > today. Woohoo. But I still remember the Neopets one very well, ^^..

t7lildrummerboy - July 27, 2006 01:44 AM (GMT)
Tower of Salvation, A forum about Tales of Symphonia,

I was looking at a friend's porfile and the guild was Tower of Salvation. I joined the Forum from the guild and I grew to love it. It was my first official rp. I am still on their now, but I was recently promoted to Moderator. I seriously think of the forum as my second family... The people there are so great and they accept anyone.

acidcore - July 27, 2006 01:46 PM (GMT)
Hmm, well I once played this game called StarKingdoms. And on this game was built in forums, so that was my first taste of them. Then I saw on somebody's signature a link to their forum, so I clicked it and joined. So my first taste of any forums where GT mostly. The one day a person on the GT forum made a post advertsing their "RPG". Now at this stage I had only know RPG's to be dice and table top and not on computer, so I joined out of curiosity.

I loved it and since then I have went on to create a few forums myself and join many others. So yeah, that is my boring forum life which started about 2 years ago.

thoushaltkissme - August 2, 2006 04:48 AM (GMT)
Grey's Anatomy... pretty much the best Grey's board out there. We are made of awesome... seriously!

Cliché. - August 2, 2006 09:25 PM (GMT)
Hah, my first forum was a Teen Titans roleplay. There were only about eighteen members, but very active and everyone was literate. I roleplayed Slade, up until the Administrator closed it because she no longer had an internet connection.

I loved it so much; shame it had to die.

Nicole - August 4, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
:geek: the jesse mccartney boards.
i was a jesse mccartney teenie at one point of my life ((almost two years ago, lmao)). and i was searching around for jesse mccartney sites, and i found that. i joined and i've been hooked on message boards since. how loserish is that?

Kenny - August 4, 2006 03:17 PM (GMT)
Degrassi.tv
OR
The-N.com

Lol.
If you can really call The-N.com a forum, though. But those were the very first sites I was active on. I really started to RP at D.tv, though. It was just threads where we all posted our characters and played in that thread, but most of the time they were really fun ones. Eventually the appeal I had to both sites wore off and I started on my very first RP forum. That was, I think, South Boston Roleplay. It was the first site I'd ever been on, I think, completely devoted to a whole roleplay. And, since that summer a year ago, I've been addicted. I've made my own sites, joined sites that were fantastic. But the best site I've been on recently is kind of losing it's glimmer. Although I shouldn't talk bad about it, because it's the first RP-devoted-site I've actually been able to make a lot of friends on, whom I wouldn't trade for anything.

So now you know. Lol.
