Title: [S] Cbox Issues
Description: I think it hates me D:

Hey, guys - I know this isn't, strictly speaking, a board issue, but IF/ZB's support sites don't seem to cover it at all (and in a few topics, got mad at the poster for seeking help there instead of through cBox). I have tried contacting them but, surprise surprise, no response.
A couple of days ago I installed a cbox on our board. It worked fine for me at first, and still works fine for everybody else on the planet. Since yesterday, it's been refusing to load for me (IE6 gets "Page Cannot Be Displayed" and Firefox gets "Connection Timed Out"). Usually the box you type in is displayed, sometimes it won't load either. Clicking on 'help' or any of the links on the box won't open any pages. I've tried disabling my firewall and deleting my cookies, to no avail.
When I visit other IF sites, their cboxes don't load for me either. But when I visit proboards, their cboxes load fine. I am therefore baffled D:
Can anybody help? ;-;
Edit: Typical ¬_¬ I finally post for help and the cbox decides to be good *sigh* Well, it's working for now, so... yay? :3
Edit the Second: Nope, now it's gone again ._.

I'd try deleting temp. internet files and cookies and see if that makes any difference.
I've never had this problem, so I can't really offer any suggestions other than that. The only thing I can think of that might cause the Cbox to work on Proboards and not IF, would be that maybe IF forums have more data programmed into them that Proboards, and that it takes so long for your computer to get the IF info that it quits before accessing the Cbox. But that may not even make sense in computer terms. =/

I was having a problem with c-box the other night. It wouldn't load for a little while, and when it did, it wouldn't allow posts.
Have you tried generating the codes again and re-installing them into your skin? It could be that something took missing in the codes - especially if you've updated your header codes recently.

Thanks for the response, guys ^__^
Manda, I did delete cookies and temp net files and sadly nothing happened x-x I think your theory might be near the mark, though - I don't know if it makes sense technically but it is logical :3 The only thing that baffles me are that it worked fine to begin with and last night it was fine for a good few hours again. Maybe my connection is messing up (I have had wonky net lately) but it's fine now, yet no cbox... grarrh x_X
Pandak - I gave it a go, but still no luck. I didn't suspect coding at first since it works for everybody else, but at this point I'd be willing to sacrifice much chocolate in the name of the Intarwebz Gods to get this thing working.
I was wondering, if I were to change from cbox to something else, is there an alternate version that still allows you to skin the box so it matches your layout? And... would it make any difference, or is my comp still going to reject it?

Depends what type of shoutbox do you have? I use Shoutmix and they let you customize the skin ^^

Well, tonight my net died a very thorough death. Turns out our ISP has been introducing new ways of billing and handling accounts and it caused the broadband for all the customers in my city and the surrounding area to disappear (ah, the services you pay for... x-x). Now it's back, and so is the cbox (...again) so for now, I think it was the ISP's fault >>
On the off-chance it wasn't, though, I'll look into getting a Shoutmix for the future : ] Thanks China Doll, and everyone ^-^
Edited: 'cause I r stil gud spelr.
