Title: What Kind Of RP Would You Like To See?

Gowd - March 25, 2008 05:08 PM (GMT)
I was curious at what kind of RP site people would most likly join. So, please vote, and leave a comment bellow :pink:

I personally like originals, because they are more fun in my opinion. x.x 0.o

Something original. Linears are also pluses, too. *nods*

Kyle3i - June 9, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
*concurs*

...with the originality and linearity previously mentioned.

I love magical realism, seeing present day (or relatively present day) characters interacting with the strange/unusual/fantastic, possibly for the first time.

So I'm drawn to boards similar to:
-original "gifted" boards, in which people begin to exhibit powers
- survival boards, in which an event is occuring (zombies, rapture, apocolypse, etc.
- gothic/horror boards, ghost stories and running/surviving a haunted locale. (but orignal boards, I tend to shy away from werewolf vampire heavy rpgs)
- anything that makes me smile, worlds that intrique and inspire me.
-etc..

Actually I have no idea. I would pretty much join anything. I like to join original Roleplay sites, but they have to have really good plot details for me to be remotely interested in them.

But usually i tend to go for RPG's based on tv shows and movies. Dunno why.

I would love to find an active Buffy/Angel RP. Every one that I manage to find is dead, or has a plot that just does not interest me enough to register.

Three words: Peter Pan.

I've always wanted to join / make a roleplay set in Neverland.
I've never seen any around, and I don't know how popular it would get if I made one of my own. I wouldn't want to put my heart and soul into something that doesn't get ANY members.. for the umpteenth time.

All the ones you have listed we already have - in droves.

What about more book based forums that aren't the usual HP/Twilight/Gossip Girl? Why not some mroe Tamora Pierce forums? Some Tithe-based roleplays? Roleplays set in the universes described in Hex, Sunshine, the House of Night books, or the Farsala trilogy? I'd eat my own foot if someone came up with a forum in any of those before canceling/quitting anything that demands my time so that I'd be able to join XP

I like the idea of taking worlds created in books and making them your own. No canons from the books. Hell, preferably even a different time period. Just the setting created by the author, tweaked to suit the administrator, and left for you to run wild in.

Original fantasy. Because they're so scarce nowadays. Interesting original races, inspiring concept, good plot, great threading possibilities. Yep... s.c.a.r.c.e.

Originals are great if well done.

HP isn't too bad either.

omwos - June 25, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
I went with original, the majority of the fandoms you listed I'm not a fan of. I'm a big fan of the paranormal/superantural and don't see too many good ones of those.

zander - June 25, 2008 08:09 PM (GMT)
ahahaha. i am so picky about rpgs now...

i guess just "real life" does it for me.

Bramble - June 25, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
I think the cliche role plays that you see every day are fun once in a while.
I'm all for real life role plays like High School, but being the fantasy role player that I am I always seem to add in some sort of fantasy stuff.
I just can't seems to get the handle on serious real life topics.

Always wanted to see a Spirited Away one or something by Miyazaki

enigmaticpoet - July 13, 2008 05:26 AM (GMT)
I love "magic powers" sorts of plotlines; everyday people in a realistic setting mixed up with something engagingly fantasy. I like to see original storylines and universes, but based around a "generic" theme that's easy for newcomers to understand as opposed to an original universe that requires a "member handbook" to understand all the races and customs and social positions.

I like fantasy, but I tend to prefer, like I said, a more modern or urban setting than something Tolkeinesque.

I'd like to see an original site, just because I like being unique. I'm not one to go for something over used and over rated.

EliteGirl - July 14, 2008 10:36 PM (GMT)
I like small town RPG's, myself. But we also should have ones that are soap opera-themed, for the dramatic lovers (I've heard about some). And for the comedy lovers something like "Sex and the City". How about rehab-themed RPG's where people overcome drinking problems and more. Just a few suggestions.

I especially like them if they are human-only, real Life RPG's.

Akala - July 15, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
I like city role plays best. I suppose small town could fit, but I like city sites because that means that sometimes they allow gangs or even the mob x3

Sicaluff - July 16, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
Originals, all the way. Most of the others are way overdone. So, definitely originals. :)

Silverstar912 - July 24, 2008 05:39 PM (GMT)
I like any form of either fantasy or real-life forum RPGs that have a little more complex/complicated systems that make it as close to a video game as possible.

The one I'm trying to run, for instance, involves quests and 'random item finds', but of course that will probably require a very active Admin team.

I've also seen RP boards with dice-roll features and experience points.

Anyway.

Theme-wise, I want to see something very open-ended with Asian culture, not just straight samurai or ninja the whole way through. It would be cool to combine character formats from all the major parts of the Orient -- Korea and China, not just Japan.

I'd be happy if I could find a Harry Potter / Hogwarts type of thing that wasn't hardcore fangirl-ish with the yaoi pairings and odd rules.

roger349 - July 24, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)
Harry Potter is always enjoyable, but the plot is really what decides how good it is etc. I guess I'd like to see a Pirates of the Caribbean RPG, or maybe a Star Wars RPG...that will actually last. xD

Serris - July 24, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
I'm into the City setting with a sort of supernatural twist. Its hard to do especially without making the RP seem gaudy. Its easy to go over the top with abilities as in you wouldn't have a bunch of Naruto characters running around 'cause you'd prolly not have a city anymore. The idea of 'gifts' manifesting in some people or something with a modern gothic type feel, not so much ghosts though. Of course, being a medieval/feudal fan, I've always had fun with well developed fantasy boards just so long as you don't see some large creature wandering into a small house or something of that sort that doesn't make sense even in fantasy - real worlds strange enough D: So right now, the modern supernatural city?

Spinner's End - July 24, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
Something that has fantasy aspects but is original and hasn't been done before. The vampire vs. werewolf thing is already cliche in fiction, RPing it would be a bore.

candy - September 7, 2008 03:06 AM (GMT)
I want to see one about Eureka, the new show over on SCI FI. I haven't seen any yet, and I'd like to check one out.

EmmiJade - September 7, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)
I'd like to see a historical RPG done during the time of the Russian Revolution, with people who know the history. It's quite hard to find a lot of people who know their stuff, so roleplaying that particular history would be hard, but it's one of my favorite timeperiods.

Brownie points if it's an alternate history that adds magic, magical creatures, or other influences.
