Title: [S] Member Legends

Lici - March 25, 2008 03:15 PM (GMT)
Okay, so on most of my sites, I like to make a member legend to differentiate between groups of characters. However, the previous code I used had the most ugly way of catergorising that didn't allow for me to have two versions of the same group (i.e. normal members and administrators) using the same colour, because it created two symbols, which just didn't look right. And then, the only way to find out what group of characters was which colour, was to click on the box and it would take you to the member list.

LICI DOES NOT WANT. =[

I've seen some people creating member legends that work much in the same way, but instead of symbols/boxes, they used text that told you what the group was named...how do you do that?

[Example for those who are confused about my longwinded confusing way of describing what I want - reckless abandon? That's the only one I can find so far...]

It's fairly simple. Write up the HTML (for example, <font color="orange">moderator</font> | <font color="red">colonel</font>) and put it in your footer. I'm not sure what your footer code is, but if you put it at the very top of your footer, before any other codes, it should show up in the same spot.

Just FYI, though, I think you might have messed up the code to your current user legend, which is why to see the members of each group you have to click instead of just hover (if the site you're having problems with is Opposite Directions.)

Thanks for your help, Sunday! For some reason, I thought it would be a whole lot more complicated than that! XD

Anyway. I'm not too worried about the current member legend - I was getting sick of it anyway and so that's why I asked for the coding for the text member legend instead - but I did wonder if there was something wrong with the code, but other than me adding more categories to it, its exactly as I found it, so I blame the author of the code! XD

Here's the code I use. I love it. Place it after <%Board%>

QUOTE
<center><table border="1"><td><DIV class-tableborder>
<DIV class=maintitle>
<center>User legend v2</center>
</DIV>
</DIV>
<DIV class=tablepad>

<span style=<(Copy and paste the Online List Format [Prefix] )>(Name of Group)<(Copy and paste the Online List Format [Suffix])> |

</DIV></td></table></center>

To add more, copy and paste this part as many times as needed:

<span style=<(Copy and paste the Online List Format [Prefix] )>(Name of Group)<(Copy and paste the Online List Format [Suffix])> |

Here's a sample taken from my board:

QUOTE
<center><table border="1"><td><DIV class-tableborder>
<DIV class=maintitle>
<center>User legend v2</center>
</DIV>
</DIV>
<DIV class=tablepad>

<span style='color:#abcdd3; filter:glow(color=white, strength=2); height: 1px;'><b>Admin</b></span> |

<span style='color:#4b8baf; filter:glow(color=gray, strength=2); height: 1px;'>Moderator</b></span> |

<span style='color:black; filter:glow(color=#739DA5, strength=2); height: 1px;'>Honorary Member</b></span> |

<span style='color:#4f9d8c; filter:glow(color=#03735b, strength=0); height: 1px;'>NPC</span> |

<span style='color:#397184'; font weight=bold><b>Member</b></span> |

<span style='color:#4b6a67'>Auditioning</span> |

<span style='color:#666600'>Deceased</span> |

<span style='color:#a51717'>Banned</span>

</DIV></td></table></center>

It gives you this:

But it ties into your skin's theme, centred at the bottom of your page.
