Title: Do You Look Your Age?

Sunday - March 22, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
People think I'm younger than I am, because I'm short (5'0") and have a somewhat round, youthful face. In fact, I'm a teacher's aide in a 5th grade classroom, and sometimes the substitutes (or, more recently, the photographer taking their class pictures) think I'm a 10-year-old. x.x Some of them are as tall as me, it's pretty dumb, haha.

Most people do apologize though, and it's usually followed by a, "I thought you looked older but you're short..." I don't dress like a kid, and I can pass for a 17 year old... Most of the time, people think I'm 15 or so, but then some people think I'm older because my dark hair and skin make me look "serious," apparently. XD

EDIT~ The good thing about this is that many people think my mom is a lot younger than she is. She's in her early 50s but people think she's in her early 40s. And people say we look almost exactly alike (save the age difference of course), so! Good news for me, lol. :]

So, how 'bout chuu?

December, Esq - March 22, 2008 08:27 PM (GMT)
I'm 21. But I'm short and also have a youthful face. People think that I'm 17. When my little sister went in to get her permit a couple years ago (she was 15), they thought that I was the one there for the permit. (I was 19 at the time.) Most people assume that my little sister is older because she's taller and wears more makeup. She was even offered champagne at a wedding (when she was 16 and I was 20) and I was automatically given cider. :/ Not like I dislike cider or anything. . . .

mellaroidlitho - March 22, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
I'm 19, and tiny, so people think I'm 15 or so. Which really throws them off when they find out I'm married.

Same with me, except I normally get around 15/16 guesses. Although the other week someone asked if I went to the same intermediate school as the 11 year old girls I was taking biscuit selling >_<

Same here.

I just turned 18 a few months ago and I'm still in highschool, so when people ask where I go to school and I tell them, they always tell me that I look like I'd be finishing up college. It does have it's perks, but for the most part, it makes me wonder. If I look older than I am now, what am I gonna look like when I'm older?!

Mister Dude - March 23, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm 19, and I don't look older then 17. It's really annoying, I'm just too tall for my own good. Ech.

Lady Notorious - March 23, 2008 03:27 AM (GMT)
People always think that I'm older than I am. When I was in ninth grade, people thought I was a sophomore in college.

Nobu - March 23, 2008 04:12 AM (GMT)
I'm 22 although look like I'm about 16. Although my aunt once thought I sounded like an old man so I guess I'm even then.

sarahj - March 23, 2008 04:25 AM (GMT)
I'm 17 and got kids menus up until 2 years ago, up until the point my boobs grew obvious x.x That's mainly because I'm also extremely short and my sister (6th grade, 6 years younger than I am) is now taller than I am.

I'm 21 and most definitely NOT flat-chested, and I STILL get thought of as early teens. >_<

December, Esq - March 23, 2008 06:16 AM (GMT)
 I ask for kids' menus at restaurants so I can color. Ookay random tidbit of info there.

Sunday - March 24, 2008 01:36 AM (GMT)
^ Me too! But because some restaurants have less crayons than kid menus, sometimes they'll be like "Well, you can have the menu but unfortunately we have to keep the crayons for other customers" (meaning actual children, I suspect). Hello, I obviously only asked for the crayons. lmao.

pirate.bombshell - March 24, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)
I'm 16 people think I'm 19. Lmao, I honestly get it ALL the time! 17-18 year old guys are always hesitant with me and when I tell them I'm 16 they instantly begin flirting etc. haha it's too funny. This one time this guy thought my brother and I were married XD I was like "WOAH NOW! I'M ONLY 15!" Bwahaha. It was funny. And also when I was like 13 I went to this Drug-Mart to see if I could model there and the girl was taking my application and my mom's like "Wait, how old do you have to be to do this?" and the girl's like "Oh 18" was shocked when my mom told her I'm 13. Haha it's too funny. But it's good because I can always do more stuff without people asking my ID =D NOICE! Ok well that's my long and boring story. XD

SpazzyMal - April 6, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
I'm 20. People still guess I'm as young as 14 some times. >_< Usually people guess around 16, though. Which is still not my age, obviously. Very few people guess I'm 18 or older.

I imagine it's because I'm short (5'2") and have a babyface liek woah. And because I don't often wear very adult makeup, but instead seem to look like a kitschy scenester almost. Including my childish clothing choices. XD

(Though I think they're all copying ME, not the other way around. I've dressed like a glittery little kid in cartoon dinosaur t-shirts long before scene came around.)

whisper[something]profound - April 6, 2008 07:04 AM (GMT)
I'm 19 next week, and far too often I have been mistaken as older.

I'm pretty damn tall, especially for a chick (think over six foot) and stupidly thin (God damn I wish i could put on weight) and boobs that I wish were smaller. Guys talk to my chest =P.

Anyways, on with the point of the post, it was great when I was 13 and sneaking into bars, not so great now I'm almost 19 and have blokes in their forties hitting on me.

Add to this the fact that I recently shaved my dreadlocks, and now I have 40 year old women hitting on me =P.

There are distinct advantages though. Not getting carded in clubs and when I buy smokes makes me happy =P.

SmathNa - April 6, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
I look younger than I am. See my avatar. Something about my facial structure makes people guess I'm about 15, and I'm very... well... giggly and bouncy when I'm joking around with friends.

Shameful. I know.

tarot americaine - April 6, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)
I'm eighteen, and most people think I've anywhere from fourteen to sixteen. Never older than sixteen, though.

Truthfully, I kind of hate it.

JRL - April 6, 2008 10:09 PM (GMT)
I look older then I am. :)

I'm 16 but I've been told I look from 18-20

antisocialist87 - April 6, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
I'm 21. I'm commonly confused for a teenager.

022044 - April 7, 2008 12:53 AM (GMT)
I look a little bit younger. I guess it's just genetics, but it's a bit of a nuisance.

xkapow - April 16, 2008 12:36 AM (GMT)
Probably not. I'm fourteen but have chubby cheeks and about 5'3 or so. I look a few years younger though.

.Ra - April 16, 2008 12:45 AM (GMT)
I am 25 and still get carded for movies. I guess most people think I’m 17. Worse when I am out with my daughter sometimes older ladies will let me know that I’m entirely too young to have a child, well that is until I tell them I am 25.

Mousie - April 16, 2008 12:58 AM (GMT)
I'm 21, and I don't look it.

A lot of people ask me what grade I am in school (boy are they embarassed when I say third year uni...), generally they seem to think I'm sixteen or somesuch.

My sister is the opposite, she looks older than she is. When I checked into residences, she was fourteen and I was eighteen.. and the guy that checked me in automatically walked up to her first - and welcomed her to the residence.

I always get my ID checked, even in the supermarket I work in. Crazy stuff, but I guess it'll all pay off later!

ShadowAngel - April 16, 2008 12:58 AM (GMT)
Most people think I'm younger than I am, usually early twenties. My younger sister hates it cause when we're together people always think shes the older sister even though we are 2.5 years apart ha ha.

morosely - April 16, 2008 04:22 AM (GMT)
I think I look my age, but people often have different ideas. My mom's friends think I look older than I am by a few years, which is often followed by them telling me to stay away from boys. but that's not the point. The point is I generally look anything from 16-18ish. Since I am 16, I think it's pretty good.

usagituskino321 - April 17, 2008 04:52 PM (GMT)
I don't really know if I look older or I look younger. >.>

Some people go, "What are you, 18?" And then I say, "No... I'm almost 22."

But, earlier when I was in my late teens, I had people telling me I looked older. :\ Like I was 20 or somewhere around there. >.> So... I'm a bit confused. XD;

vheissu - April 17, 2008 06:14 PM (GMT)
I'm turning 19 on May 3rd but those who don't know me always mistake me for being 16 or something. I'm always asked my age when I try to donate blood (I never can since I'm anemic) and people are astounded and go, "I thought you were younger!"

I don't have a problem with it but it does make it harder to get boyfriends on campus! >< They all think I'm some professor's daughter visiting from high school or something! Poo.

Baine - April 17, 2008 08:53 PM (GMT)
I'm 17, a senior in highschool, and I look a little young for my age. People don't mistake me for a freshman or anything, but I've got a rounder face than most men and look only 15 or 16 because of it.

Anyway, I would suppose looking younger than I am is a blessing, or at least will be later in life.

Nda - April 18, 2008 02:53 AM (GMT)
I'm 20, and I swear, I'm going to be carded until I'm 30. -_- People look at me like, "Wait, you're old enough to be in college?!" And it frustrates me.

China Doll - April 18, 2008 03:32 AM (GMT)
A lot of people say I look younger then I really am... Mainly around "16" is what they claim. When Actually I am 22. I'm not sad about it lol it actually makes me feel better to know that I do look younger then how old I really am. ^^' on top of that it is in my genes XD all of my family look younger then what they do, except for my dad >.>

c_jai - April 19, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
I've been told that I look slightly older than I am after I cut my hair. It could be that there aren't a lot of girls my age that go as short as I did, but I could still add on a year.

Panda - April 19, 2008 09:44 AM (GMT)
23 and I've always looked older. Bad sleeping patterns, early mornings and stress do nothing to help how 'old' I look. I've been sprouting white hair since I was about 21!

Mimizi - April 22, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
I'm nearing nineteen and people often mistake me for anywhere from thirteen to sixteen. I've also got a thirteen year old sister who is a good four inches taller than myself, and so people always assume that she's me and vise-versa. While i'll admit this is amusing at times (I still get a kick out of people asking my little sister how she likes college) it does get extremely irritating (and will be even more so once I turn 21 0_o)

Rae - April 29, 2008 04:41 AM (GMT)
I'm finally starting to catch up to myself age in appearance, which sucks because it'll only be a few years before I could've taken advantage of a younger face. :p

But I look about 16-17 and I'm 20. (Which is nice - creeps in bars don't hit on me much because they think I'm too young. Ha!)

Emma - May 21, 2008 05:57 AM (GMT)
Most people who comment on my age say that I look older than I am. Normally I get people asking whether I've left university yet and I'm only in my second last year of high school.

Li Damu - May 21, 2008 06:35 AM (GMT)
Well I'm 15 and have been told that I look 17, so... not quite enough to be useful yet, lol. It's probably because my face is pretty thin and I'm very tall for my age - I just look big and people assume.

Miss Khaos - May 24, 2008 08:25 PM (GMT)
I look kind of younger than I am, but not by a lot. I'm 16 years old, 5'1" tall, and have a thin body structure (so no big boobs for me >_>), so yeah. I have a brother who's one grade lower than me, but he's much bigger, so everyone thinks he's the older sibling.

My smallness also leads to all of my friends treating me like the baby of the group, even though I'm older than most of the people in my grade. Everyone wants to protect me. >_<

Meredith - May 24, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
People always say I look older. I'm 16 and people usually say I look 18 or 19. :)

Big boobs are overrated....Couldn't resist. :p

I've been told I'm older than I look, but I think that was when I was a bit younger. I'm 16 now and I look just about right in my opinion.

allieteration - May 25, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
People tell me I look my age (when I'm on my own). I'm short, yeah, but here that's pretty common to have short people running around. It's in our blood. :p

When I'm with my sister and at first glance, though, I get told I look older, because I'm about two inches taller than she is. She wears makeup and dresses more... er... girlishly though, so people often realize their mistake and apologize.
