Title: Wordpress... Heh
Description: (change)
Shade - March 20, 2008 12:57 AM (GMT)
So I tried for a change with my website and downloaded the WordPress installment. To me, this is certainly something new and scary while also very exciting. I think eventually, this means I'm gonna try to make a theme for it on my own once I've adjusted to the different coding and template bits involved. There's also a bit of PHP involved... and that is one think I know nothing of... of all things.
But I just recently finished the larger parts of my converting the website I had and the information on it to my new WordPress page. It took a while to figure out what I was doing... truly... i felt completely lost for a while. But I think I know enough and have actually managed to edit the theme and personalize it. ^.^
The idea to transfer all my information like that is still very unstable and though I don't plan on switching back because this will most certainly help me with managing and also allow staff members to get accounts on the WordPress site and be able to edit it. However, like I said, I'm still unsure about it.
http://enraptured-dreams.com/TSS/wordpress/That's the link to my website, would anyone please give some input on what I've done with it so far. Also if anyone is familiar with it, you know of any great plugins that would be beneficial to me? Please?

I thought it looked really good. And from what I understand (and have seen) it's hard to make Wordpress look really awesome. I thought it was all laid out really well.
One problem though. I couldn't find anywhere a join button. Or something to take me to your forum (if you're on a forum) so I could actually join. I did click on a Admin name, which took me to a forum. But there was nothing like that oh so lovely button of "click here to join" or "forum".

hehe, i'm working on a button for it now ^.^
and thank you, i literally went through hundreds of themes to find one that was simple and nice.

Make sure its bright and shiny and in an easy spot to see! I was always having trouble with people getting to my forum from the website. Even when the word "forum" was in the main image of the website. In big, beautiful letters with a special box around it. lol
Also, when you advertise (if you do) and you have your website url in the advert, also add one that is just straight to the forum. I found that it helped, and made people happy (especially return adverters).

thank you, i've got the button up.
and I will be sure to add the link of my website in my advertisement. ^.^ I usually just stuck to only putting the link to our forum but I'll give adding the link to our site a try. :pink:

Eww (not your site - WordPress).
Don't ever try getting help for it from the forums because they seriously suck at replying. I got WordPress and tried doing things and I hated it, so I'm going with handcoding my website.
I tried skinning it myself, also. Nearly got there but then I couldn't figure out one thing and I gave up.
Your one looks very good!

I lurb wordpress! To prevent spam comments from bots I recommend the Akismet plugin.
http://akismet.com/If you're going to run an RPG through blog post threading, I definitely recommend heavy use of tag categories. Label each post, ya know? Have a tag for rules & info, maybe some for different types of RPs or in-game locations, stuff like that. Organization will really make things run smoothly.
[*just now realizes that may not be the intended idea, but isn't going to remove her post* XD I saw Wordpress + RPG and my mind went somewhere new. >_>]

This looks very good lovey! Very professional... just something I thought I'd mention, though, when I first looked at it it was like BLAM so much to look at at once and I didn't know where to start... but maybe that's just me and my sleep-deprived current state of mind? xD
I give it a thumbs up for coolness.

I use wordpress for my blog and my RPG's website, so I know a wee bit about it. :D I custom make my own themes, and have done so for a while now.
Anyway, you wanted plugins? Here we go :D
Admin Dropdown MenuExec PHPSubpagesContact FormMulti-column link listI really should be sleeping right now, so I may have more in the morning. If you have any WP-related questions, PM me. :D

oh thank you so much! I could definitely use some of those plugins and also thank you for the input from everyone.
lol, I was really worried about the move to wordpress because I didn't see much of them around that looked... decent and wasn't sure if anyone could help me if I had questions because their support forums... aren't very handy if I post a question... :rawr: How irritating that is.
My original inspiration to switch over came from a very amazing wordpress site that I visit often just to stare at... The sites that are connected to it are quite awesome too.

I'm a big Wordpress user. I used it for my blog years ago and I have incorporated it into my current RPG. The first page you come to when you go to my RPG is the Wordpress site. It has a killer design (I am capable of sufficiently skinning Wordpress, but I used a beautiful premade css theme), and all the links are listed handily on the left hand side. I employ Wordpress not as a blog, but as the host for my RPG resources... instead of putting them on the forum. I've always wanted to incorporate Wordpress into my RPG and I'm pretty happy about how it worked out.
