Title: [S] Speeding Up Forum?

Manda - March 17, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
When using Internet Explorer, my forum runs really slow, but it works just fine with Firefox.

Is there anything I can do to speed it up for IE?

I saw somewhere that having many codes and things in the header and footer can really slow it down. I personally don't think there's a lot there on my forum. I have a side-bar, and a few links to javascript codes.

Would it be faster if I moved the javascripts into the footer itself, rather than linking to the uploaded file?

Your banner image is a lot of kilobytes, and I suspect that might be a major cause of it. This is just my opinion, but it doesn't really match your skin either.

Yeah, I know. But the members voted for it. >_<
Lol.

The thing is, the image loads no problem. It just takes forever for the boards and side-bar to show.

You can still make the banner a smaller size without changing it by making it an 8-bit png instead of a 24-bit png.

I loaded it up on IE and it loaded for me with no problem, so it might be something else.

I'll try making the banner smaller. i just started using PNGs, so I'm still kind of a noob.

The whole forum loaded no problem, or just the banner?
