Title: Signature Judgement.

before you even look at it, just keep in mind that i don't have photoshop; i used fireworks. so that's why i don't add brushes or fancy things. :] but i still want some tips as to how i could make this better. because i have no idea what to do with the border, and i spent ages on it until i came up with this strange arrangement - and yes, it is supposed to be different thickness.
what i'm really concerned with is the sub-text, because i just couldn't get that to work no matter which font i used or what colour i tried, and i just couldn't be bothered searching for fonts. i know there's places like dafont.com and 1001fonts.com, but i takes so long to search through all of those and find something half-decent. so if anyone has any font suggestions, i'd be glad to hear them, too. :]

first of all, for not having photoshop, this is wonderful. Now then, you mentioned fonts. Some that I would suggest getting are things like The King & Queen, Deutsche Zierschrift, and Teutonic. They're used rather often for certain things, but depending on how you play with them, they can become very creative fonts.
Also on the note of fonts, it would be cool if you tried twisting them a bit. Your program may not allow this, but if you can tilt the font so that it's angled or something, that can be really eye-catching.
For the border, a normal 1 px border is fine most of the time. Just one black or white line all the way around it. Or, you could do like you did, and have it different lengths on the top and bottom, but be sure to get some borders on the sides as well, even if they're just 1 pixel of black. It squares off the image.
Ummm, your blending for this picture was perfect, but he seems to blend into the background a bit to much. If there's anything you can do for that in the future, it would make the image look crisper in a way. And . . . (wow, I feel evil with everything I'm telling you to look out for) you see the top of his head? How it just disappears into the border? If you want to do that, I'd make it a bit more exaggerated, or keep all of his head on. xD
Umm, other then that the only thing I can say, is to try and play with the coloring on your images. You can saturate it (turn it black and white) but still have colors. Which, I would suggest for these pictures, since he looks kind of . . . pink? You can also sharpen and make the contrast more obvious for it. If you have the tinting tool, that's really fun to mess with as well.
Other than that, this is completely gorgeous. Wonderful blending, nice image positioning, as well as font positioning. Play with things. Have fun with it.
