Title: Which RP?
Description: Kicking around some new ideas...
Robespierre - February 29, 2008 10:58 PM (GMT)
I'm toying with various ideas, and I thought I'd see, first, if there was any interest. Most of these don't require research but will nonetheless be somewhat historical, which is my favorite--my French Revolution RP is great, and I'm not abandoning it, but I think I might get more people interested in something less prestructured.
I probably won't act on any of this for a few months, if ever, but it's interesting to see if anyone shares my taste.

the first suggestion seems to be the best, to me. of course, i immediately thought of king arthur when i read it

I like the first one, though the second two could be interesting as well... though I'd need a bit more information on the ideas than just 'kingdoms warring' to secure my vote.
But I also love Ancient Rome, and Ancient Greece...
Robespierre - March 1, 2008 09:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah, who doesn't love ancient Greece?
Well, I'm not sure I would've wanted to be a woman back then... the 'kingdoms warring' bit is totally unclear to me as well--I just like war. Any ideas as to what the war could be about, other than, you know, territory? Religion is one thing. But I don't want to go and invent a whole new religion. Or use the various breeds of Christianity.

I voted for Rome. I would think it would be interesting since so many little groups could be plotting against the kingdom.
I tired to think of something they could fight for, but I keep going back to territory. Sorry.

I voted for none. They don't sound interesting to me. But maybe because I love American history and stuff. Besides, I don't do the whole medieval thing very well.
Robespierre - March 1, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
Hey, I'm totally interested to hear why people aren't interested in pseudo-history. I don't completely know why I'm so into it, myself, but to each his own... my mother's an historian, which is probably where I got my interest. But again, I set up this poll to find the likeminded--and those who wouldn't join, so I know why people would tend to reject the RP.

*cough* Athens and Sparta. I'm glad you're looking at a Greek role-play. It's quite unique. You could do a lot with it; seems interesting!

I agree with Aithra, an Athens and Sparta RP would be pretty interesting. At the moment at school I'm doing an Athens vs Sparta debate (I'm an Athenian co-captain. :) ) and I think a lot of the things would be pretty interesting to RP.
Robespierre - March 4, 2008 08:01 AM (GMT)
Yeah... I wouldn't want to do a true-history one, though, that's the thing. It's too much pressure on members to learn things! And too much pressure on me not to be overcontrolling. ;) Though I suppose we wouldn't have to chart the Peloponnesian War or anything... It's a thought. I'm a huge Socrates fan so... we'll see...

I saw you make an Aincient Greece RPG.
Simply because its awesome..

Do the Stoneage! It's original, I've not seen or heard about anything like it. There's some indians-roleplays I think, but I never saw one based on the Stoneage. I'll join if you do it, and I'll be more than happy to help with realistic facts and so on, since I study archaeology :D
a Stoneage RP sounds so cool... scattered tribes sounds great, and the matriarchal society/religion is interesting too. A bit like the later "Clan of the Cave Bear" books. It would be really interesting. Honestly... I'm already hooked :)

Two warring kingdoms, oh god I would do anything for a warring Medieval RPG right now...
