Title: Singing/vocie Lessons
sunny - February 26, 2008 03:29 AM (GMT)
So, today I just had my first voice lesson, and I had to admit I was really nervous. It turned out to be tons of fun, my teacher (a woman) said I was really good and laughed with me when I made a mistake, though, but I stayed slightly nervous almost the whole lesson. It was probably the most enjoyable hour of the whole day, but I get nervous when singing in front of people, even a voice teacher, more so, my voice teacher! But I still can't wait to go back, because now I feel a lot more confident of myself. I'm not sure how big my range is (she didn't exactly tell me) but I feel like It's pretty good, unlike the unsure feeling I used to have.
Anyone else take voice/singing lessons? Are you good? Do you like it? Get nervous when you sing in front of people? And the three million dollar question, do you call them voice or singing lessons, or something else?
-Lea. :rice:
P.S. I call them voice, as it sounds more proffesional. XD
Edit: Forgive the typo in the title please.

I teeter back and forth between the two terms.
I take voice lessons with a friend of mine, I get a little nervous around my eacher, but she's awesome. I think the only part I don't like ar the performaces, which are usually at the old folks home, I'd rather it be somehwere more "lively". I love it, and after only just half a year I'm near the teachers level in voice. ^_^

I took voice lessons for several years, and have sung since I was a small child. I was rather intimidated by my voice teacher for pretty much the whole time, but my voice did improve a lot. One of my best friends is now a professional voice teacher, and she leads a college a capella choir, and I think she'd probably a lot of fun to have as a teacher (but we don't live close anymore).

I call them voice lessons... I took them for a number of years, but I don't anymore, because there was a limited amount of students they could take on, and since I don't want to go into music in college, I decided to just move on, lol. I would get really nervous and self-conscious, but I got over it eventually. She thought I had a good voice, but it's very soft and while I expanded my range practicing with my coach, my range still remained very small. She loved the tone quality of my voice, though. :]
I can't sing in front of big groups though, or really anyone... I get too self-conscious and embarrassed.

I did voice lessons for a couple of years. I have absolutely no ability to sing, but I did it mainly to try something new. I still don't have any sort of musical ability, but it was fun while it lasted.
And yes, I was sooo nervous that first day. But I had a group lesson with several people I didn't know, plus my little sister who is super good.

I do small group lessons. Private lessons make me nervous too, don't worry. I used to take them but my teacher stopped doing private for a qwhile and now I don't even like seeing her so I didn't sign up.
I have two directors. My choir director (the director from the deepest levels of hell) and my group director who is thenicest, gayest guy you will ever meet, I <3 him! I like things better that way because I learn different things in each class but am able to apply what I learned to both classes which really helps me be a better overall singer.
But yeah, voice lessons are amazing.

I took voice lessons for about half a year. They were tons of fun, but expensive, and so I couldn't keep them up for long. :/ I was always slightly nervous, but managed to do alright.
Still. I wish I was still taking voice.
I love singing, and want to get better.
(:

everybody in my family can sing except for me. well, i've been told that my voice has potential, but i take it as a diss and not as a compliment because i don't think i can carry a tune haha. i used to sing back when i was a kid, but outgrew it as i became a dancer instead.
i wish i had christina aguilera's voice though!!

I take voice lessons as it is required of voice majors. I was really nervous when I had to go for my first voice lesson but they get easier as you get more comfortable with your teacher.
I have horrible stage fright but I have no choice because YOU HAVE to perform somewhere. Its part of the curriculum. It's great practice for me though, helps get more confident when performing in front of crowds. And during the semester we're working towards our voice juries. WE ALL HAVE THEM >.< Its where we sing individually in front of all the Heads of the department. Good thing they write down their critiques though lolz
Also in my voice lessons I have to do other things like maybe transpose my songs to different keys, make lead sheets, transcribe pieces, then I have to do CD critiques and performance critiques.
I don't want to toot my own horn but I'm a very good singer :)
