Title: What's Your OS?
Yoshitsune - February 24, 2008 12:13 AM (GMT)
Just something that came across my mind out of curiosity, what's your OS? I know the majority of people here probably use Windows but I got curious to know if anyone use another OS. :innocent:
Please, if you could post what option you chose and why you use it, it would be nice ^_^
I currently dual boot Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Linux Ubuntu 7.10, because I've been exposed to windows nearly all my life and it always came pre-installed in the computers I've bought, but I'm dual booting Linux because many companies are starting to switch to free software and I might find myself using this in the future, so I'm better know how to use it.
I always had the curiosity of trying a Mac though...

I'm on XP because my laptop doesn't have the guts to run Vista. I love it anyway, though, for all Vista is shiny and pretty and...
What was I saying? XD
Lothlómendil - February 24, 2008 12:20 AM (GMT)
I dual boot, WinXP and Ubuntu Linux. ^_^
ShinLi - February 24, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
Well seeing as I use my laptop most often, sadly... Windows Vista. I hate it though XD, but I don't really dare to install anything else on it. My computer runs on Windows XP though, much better in my opinion. And if the comp slows down I'll just reinstal it lol. Can't do that with the laptop ><.
We had Mac's on school, can't recommend it, it was crap at school, really slow and all. Probably because everythign was hooked up to a huge network. But I'd love to have a macbook at home, probably would work ten times better then school mac's.

Windows XP is on all the computers in my house. I've only ever used Windows so I don't really know why I like it. Although I'm seriously considering getting a new laptop and if I do I don't think I can anything but Vista on it.
SpazzyMal - February 24, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
*Loves her Macbook running Leopard*
Mousie - February 24, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
Vista on Arthur, XP still on little Louis.
I love Vista though... it's just so shiny!

You name your computers -shakes head- So do we XD After the Muppets.
Six of our computers use Windows XP, Dad's uses Vista. I like Windows XP and I don't like Linux at all. I'm not sure about Mac. My boyfriend's getting a Mac so I'll have a play around on his. I don't think I like Vista..
That Other Gal - February 24, 2008 02:22 AM (GMT)
I use a Mac OS X. It's a nice operating system, but a lot of the downloadable games are made for PCs or Windows, and it bugs me that there aren't many games I can download for my computer.
In fourth grade my teacher had all her computers named after poets. XD
Micky Three - February 24, 2008 02:26 AM (GMT)
I have Vista. When i bought my lap top, they made me take it. WORST system ever. (in my opinion). Everything is so slow, and while things are pretty, you really pay for it. I suggest to everyone to get a MAC, thats what I'm going to get next, or just not to get Vista.
SpazzyMal - February 24, 2008 02:44 AM (GMT)
...my computers, drives and other gizmos are all named after Quentin Tarantino characters.
My Macbook is Stuntman Mike from Deathproof. As a joke we named my sister's computer after his brother, Stuntman Bob. My backup harddrive is The Bride from Kill Bill. My iPod is Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs.
I am a geek and a half.
antisocialist87 - February 24, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
Vista on the PC, Linux Ubuntu also on this PC. I dual boot.
Seriously, Ubuntu is so worth it. I totally second Micky Three - I have Windows Vista Home Basic on this comp, which means that the transparent toolbars and chrome does not work with me. All Vista offers is just a pretty interface.

I have two computers- one is an iMac, which I believe has like...OS 10 or something and has...Tiger? o.O I don't know. The other is a laptop and is Windows. I mainly got the laptop (and got it for Christmas a few years ago) because most of the good writing programs they have out there are for Windows only and that's what I mainly wanted (and still want) the laptop for, was for writing. I love my iMac to death, but the laptop does have its advantages. I got my iMac as a late graduation present back in 2004.

Windows Vista on my laptop, Windows XP on our other laptop and two desktops.
.buburuza - February 24, 2008 10:16 AM (GMT)
WinXP SP2. Won't switch to Vista any time soon.
Mr. Melted Crayon - February 24, 2008 04:20 PM (GMT)
I run both Vista and Mac OS X.
Honestly, I've never really had any problems with Vista. At least nothing more then a minor inconvenience and certainly nothing worse then I've had with other operating systems. I suppose I should consider myself lucky.

Only having one option selectable means not getting a valid representation, imo!
My big gaming rig runs Vista, because it has 4gb ram. That's the secret to Vista -- it requires a serious workhorse to push it all. My old baby laptop that I use for the favored games of my youth runs DOS6.2 and WIN3.11, on purpose. The server runs Fedora Core, and it needs an upgrade! The users are resistant to change, though. XD There's also a pair of Macbooks that run around the house using various flavors of OSX.
And that's not even getting into my housemates' computers. XD
XZol - February 24, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
I've had Vista since it first came out (mostly because I just had happen to buy a new laptop around that time.).

XP for the win. And it's totally screwed up . . . I can't put my laptop on hybernate or anything like that.
RENTal lot - February 24, 2008 08:38 PM (GMT)
Windows XP, but as soon as this laptop breaks I'm getting an apple laptop; it's rather slow this one.
Pleti Pie - February 24, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
XP all the way. I actually got a new laptop this past Xmas and, as much as I wanted one, I was terrified of Vista. Heard it's full of gaps and holes and etc. Luckily Dell makes a model of laptop that runs on XP, so I didn't have to suffer through a Mac-lookalike. *hugs her desktop*
Morgandy Lestrange - February 27, 2008 02:59 PM (GMT)
I have windows xp, it came with the compy I got from my college, All the new ones will have Vista.
Lexeh - February 27, 2008 03:45 PM (GMT)
I'm doing XP for now cause my comp suk0rz, but will totally be upgrading to Vista as soon as I get my new laptop. *dances*
RomanHk - February 27, 2008 07:25 PM (GMT)
I have a desktop and laptop on XP and my newest laptop runs Vista. Honestly, it isn't as bad as I thought it would be but the interface kinda annoys me. I guess I just have to get used to it more after using XP for so long.
Avalanche - February 29, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
Still on XP. No plans to switch to Vista anytime soon, but nothing against Vista.
Mariko - March 7, 2008 04:32 AM (GMT)
Vista- it came with my laptop. I use XP on the school computers.
China Doll - March 8, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
Windows Vista here. XD It came with my computer >.>
Tigscat X - March 8, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
I have Windows XP and Xubuntu dual booted on my PC.
If I had a better system then I would have installed the standard Ubuntu but this version is still pretty awesome.
I defiantly recommend Ubuntu, though it's better to have Windows handy as well. Despite the features and stability, you'll find you can't do everything on it at times.
Wubi is the easiest way to get there by the way. :)

Woot woot! I'll forever push my lovely MacBook, I love this thing, never slow, never stupid, really simple and I never worry about a virus.. ever! Sure, not everyone makes games for these things but Video and photo editing ARE my games <3 Gotta love it!
Tulojow Nagde - March 21, 2008 03:40 AM (GMT)
Yep, have been and totally am a mac person. I used a mac classic all the way through high school and even though it was really old and out of date it was still faster and more reliable than the newer PCs at school. Great for creative stuff.
Z.R. - March 21, 2008 06:34 AM (GMT)
On my computer I run Kubuntu. I've been running Linux for like.. two years? ever since I had Windows 98 and it froze while I was writing a post (eight paragraphs down the drain ;D) and kicked my computer into the wall until my hard drive broke my brother's refused to put anything else on it.
It still freezes up and lags out sometimes, but that has more to do with hardware than software. My mum's computer runs XP. Mine still runs better than that thing. Linux > Windows xD
Except when it comes to games and like. Photoshop.
ReevesOB - April 10, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
Windows XP SP2.
My aunt has Vista, and the few times I've tried to use it, I've wanted to bang my head against a wall or another equally sound structure.
