This is a stupid thing to rant about, but it's annoying me.
I'm starting a new RP and it's a cross-over between HP and Tamora Pierce's Emelan books. That's all fine and dandy.
There is no information that I can find on those books on the internet. There's a tiny bit in a wiki for Tamora Pierce, about the characters. I'm using the ambient magic from the books. Nothing.
I have to read every single book from those series that she has written, find places where she talks about magic, jot down the page number and later go back and write these notes down. It takes me about a day to read one book, with breaks for school, but it takes me ages and ages to write the notes down. I have done three books so far and I have five to go.
It's so frustrating! I have to do all of this work just to describe one aspect of my new RP. I also had to go find a map of the Arts Centre, which is what I'm using as a school, and I have to write info on New Zealand, as well as writing up information about the school policy and the difference between New Zealand's magical community and others. I don't mind this other stuff because I'm making most of it up. It's the fact that Tamora Pierce's Tortall series is so easy to work with and I go for the other and I have to do everything on my own.
-tantrum-
I really know how you feel. I just started up a Tortall-based roleplay and, while most of the supporting information and such has been easy enough to remember, there's been quite a bit that I've had to read for, and it nearly drove me insane - especially since I'm sure some things were actually EXPLAINED that I simply made things up for due to time >.<
Ugh, this happened to me when I was trying to open a Seventh Tower RPG. I wanted to make a list of spirit shadows (for those who have not read it, there are a lot) but there was nothing on anything about the book. Humph.
Anyway, I know it's annoying when that happens but you have to live through it. Good luck on recreating Ambient magic ;)
