Title: That One Annoying Guy..

Squirrelsy - February 20, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)
Ever had someone on a forum that has this really huge god complex, causes problems for everyone, and never gets punished for it? Okay, well, I do. There's this guy on a forum I'm on that seems to have this major problem with me. Since day one, he was all pissy and what not and just seemed to have this huge chip on his shoulder. As a month went by, he got really mad at me during the week I was being supervised for a moderating role on the forum. I'd brought up the idea of a powers database board so that OCs and the like could look and see what all powers were overused and for Originals that could come along and claim a unique - not so used power so no one else could use it.

Guess what he did?

He ranted on and on, posting in the board saying how it was a stupid idea and that it should be discarded and what not. He continued to provoke and pester me not only on the boards IN PUBLIC but in pm as well. So.. what do I do? What a mod should do. I suspended all his accounts until one of the admins got online to deal with the situation. Afterward, he's not banned or even suspended. Not even for all the threats he sent to me via pm. I didn't get to be a mod after that because the admin told me that apparently people would leave if I stayed as a mod- why? Most likely because the guy went and ranted off to others, giving him his pathetic story of being mistreated when they all CLEARLY saw the posts on the board. =l

A month after that, he goes on this other member to the point of almost making her leave. THEN people started seeing how much of a dick he really is. So he's been avoided but still not even suspended.. He was gone for about 2 weeks and the forum was complete BLISS without him being around. Unfortunately, he's back. ee; He hasn't started anything but all he does is just go around in threads and end up doing some sex scene- not to mention his character is 'bi' but he goes and does it with guys more than girls. It really makes me sick. =\ That's the ONLY threads he ever gets involved with. No big plots or anything. I've talked to the admin and asked why he doesn't banned him and the admin explained to me that he's tried banning him buut he keeps coming back on different IP adresses. He's even moved the board about 3 times and was debating a 4th. I doubt that would've helped. Still, him coming back on a different IP address each and everytime? I showed him the wildcard thing in the administrative management but I'm guessing he never did it since the guy's still here and still got a chip on his shoulder.

..So what should I do if he starts something again? Obviously, complaining to the admin didn't do anything, even as about 4 other members had told the admin about the guy's actions and behavior around them. The girl that he attacked last month has disappeared- and it's sad, since she was a really good rper and really sweet. =/ But now, the co-admin's come back from a long absentee so maybe she'll do something about it if people complain to her about him. Honestly though, why let someone stay around and create such chaos on the board? I'm really surprised it's even last this long with him as it is. Any advice?

And kudos to those that actually read all of this. x3

Um, why don't they ban his account as well as his IP?

Squirrelsy - February 20, 2008 09:47 PM (GMT)
That's a good question. I don't know if it's because the guy and the admins are friends and he just doesn't want to - which is really selfish if you ask me - or what. Why on earth you wouldn't at least suspend the person is beyond me. And as far as know, this isn't the first forum he's been an ass on.

China Doll - February 20, 2008 09:55 PM (GMT)
I automatically thought the same thing as the person above.. Why not just ban his accounts along with his IP? However the fact that the admin isn't doing anything to resolve a problem, tells me that he doesn't really care... But those are just my thoughts.

The only thing I can think of is just direct all the complaints to the other admin and see what she says, if she offers no help, then I'd seriously think about setting an example of what could happen if they don't do something about that guy. >.< I personally just would have left to make known that "Yes, he is scaring everyone off".

But that's just me ^^

Squirrelsy - February 20, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I get the feeling that he'll start something here soon and when he does, I'm going to be the biggest tattle-tell ever. No one really likes him and they just pretty much avoid him since he's a loose cannon.

China Doll - February 20, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
I personally don't blame half of those people lol I'd be avoiding him too if he was that horrible to me XD

Pein - February 20, 2008 10:35 PM (GMT)
So this guy quite literally goes around flaming and trolling people for doing things he doesn't want them to do? Last I checked that was not proper netiquette and should be against the rules of most any board. I have to say that I concur with China Doll and Rosenworth on banning this dudes IP and Accounts as a suggestion to this other admin. My one concern is to just how this obviously unwanted member seems to find himself in the possession of a link to the new location of the board every time. Is the main admin maybe giving it to him or something?

This however just seems ridiculous. If the admin isn't doing anything I would have personally said my piece about how the board is being run so poorly and left by now, so Kudos to you for sticking it out so long with this rather bad sport and his horrid attitude. I do hope that something is done about him in the near future, such negative things don't belong on a game that should be fun.

'_'

I once banned someone who kept coming back on different IPs and accounts. Know what I did? I kept banning those new IPs and deleting those new accounts, and I made other people admins just so they could keep doing that in case he kept it up while I was offline! xD Eventually he gave up, the bloody creep...

Just because they come back under a new IP is no excuse. Keep banning the new IPs and deleting the new accounts. Eventually they'll give up. Our horrid member did. And this guy sounds very...similar to the guy that was on my game. He had everyone fooled for a time because he was charismatic, but he was also manipulative, a liar, and very creepy (the 100% sex scenes things sounds familiar too!). Eventually everyone saw through him, and saw him for the jerkface he really was.

Eugh.

Just avoid the idiot anyway you can that's all.

Squirrelsy - February 20, 2008 10:41 PM (GMT)
It could be very likely that they're one in the same. I'll propose this idea to the OTHER admin since apparently the male one doesn't give a squat about it. The annoyance has kept his cool so far but I know how his manipulative mind works! One slip is all it takes. -Rubs hands together.-

And thank you Pein for you concern, and you Rhi-Rhi for the suggestion. Hopefully this creep will either just stop the act all together or- better yet- leave the forum, but the latter is doubtful. As for sticking with it, it's because it's a fun site and a lot of nice people are on there. It's also very active and it's really been the most active forum I've ever been in. So no little horn-dog creep is gonna keep me from enjoying myself. >/!

I don't know how helpful this will be but maybe you should start a thread in the OOC section and just tell all the other members to stick together and try to be as supportive of each other as possible? Don't put anyone down - not even rat-man - in case you get told off by the admin for being a troublemaker, but if you try to rally everyone to work together then they might choose to stay and work to ignore this creep while having fun still?

Sounds a little to me like the admin you've contacted doesn't really want to DO anything about the guy. If he'd been on my board, his accounts would have been deleted, his IP's, account names and emails would have been banned like there's no tomorrow.

Which is annoying, especially if he's creating such a fuss on the board. I'd suggest having a serious talk with the co-admin, see if there's anything that can be done, but unfortunately... at the end of the day, the admin's stupid mistake is the admin's stupid mistake and there's nothing you can do about it.

If there's anyone who's in particular danger of being scared off, I'd suggest sending them a few PM's, give them a bit of support and see if having you on-side keeps them on-board as well.
