Title: Am I The Only One?
Description: >.< Yes I have a major rant problem lol
China Doll - February 20, 2008 09:17 PM (GMT)
I don't know how many people get irritated.. or maybe I am just the only one... But have you ever had a problem with a member on your board, to the extreme where they leave, but they also delete everything, such as posts that are in a very important thread that would involve everyone else?
I find it kind of rude and very frustrating... I know its like weird that I made my first rant, but it's been bugging me to know if I am truly over-reacting when someone does that! >.< I mean what exactly do people think? That we're going to take their posts and claim it as our own? 0.0 I mean come on! Who in their right mind would do it?!?! I'm looking to make friends and make a awesome impression.. Not steal and do all those stupid things. XD
I guess everyone would feel differently about it... but I just find that silly and just another way to piss someone off! Especially if they are not only trying to hurt you but other people that weren't involved in the argument! >.<
Squirrelsy - February 20, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
You are not lying.. I hate when people do that and you're like 'Uh, hello? Leave that to the admins and mods PLEASE!' T_T
It really annoys me when people do that but I've only had one or two do that to me before.. Thankfully. Otherwise I would've really went off on something - probably lit a whole buncha mess on fire.. Lol.
Darth Makar - February 20, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
I take character apps, but I leave stuff that other people actually need. Well, that the members need. And I leave generally not because I'm angry but because I'm bored. And I delete the apps because I don't want other people to take them; I don't like leaving them around.
China Doll - February 20, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
THANK YOU! lol I just find it highly unneccessary, I mean if I was going to steal people's ideas or what not... My board sure as hell would be so low on members -.- it probably narrow down to just me and my boyfriend! I honestly don't like trouble what so ever and I would never do such a thing! >.<
I hate it when people judge you right off the bat and assume such nasty things! It makes me really mad and I just want to smack them... Smack them so hard that their head would spin! lol!!
Ps. I don't mind people deleting their own apps, I do mind when... they delete their own posts and ruin about a zillion of threads. >.<
Ezzelin - February 20, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
Nope, never had anyone that annoying. It usually shows up in the application process. >_>;;
Skull Revolver - February 21, 2008 05:51 AM (GMT)
*lolz* yeah but... what about if the threads only between two people, one who is leaving? I mean, its not like the other person is going to rp with themselves, or NPC the character. NPCing someones character after they leave counts as power play still. Be sure and change those names, people! XD
I dunno. I've deleted my own accounts on a PB site and the posts automatically deleted. I forgot to save my app too. I'll never get my poor character back again *wails with a box of tissues* I LOVED THAT CHARACTER! DARN YOU PROBOARDS!
Emma - February 21, 2008 07:05 AM (GMT)
I was going to suggest not allowing members to delete their own posts but then I remembered they could just edit them. Durr!
That's stupid of them. When I leave a site I don't even care about my application and don't do anything about taking them away. I think on a site I used to be on about half a year ago my account is still there and I log on once in a while to check my application ^_^ It's still up. I really don't care about people stealing my stuff, unless they turn around and accuse me of doing it to them.

OMG your like there! It seems like everytime I post in something you have to come right under my tail and smack it with something stupid to say.
Really person, quit dragging things on ^^ Be a bit mature and move on and enjoy being on RPGD, don't make yourself out to be an idiot in front of everyone lol
As to what you say, I will answer!
IT IS COMMON CURTSY to just take your profile and leave! THERE IS NO need to delete and ruin half a dozen threads, whether it just be one person or not. LET that person RP their character out the thread, they don't even have to GOD-MODE or NPC it at all period.
If you clearly see up there, I'm not the only one that gets irritated by such things. Honestly, I don't think anyone would like to have to deal with something like that.

Please Jade.
Now you're just being nice and cutting out the worst parts.
They also decided it was acceptable to delete your profiles, something that I deem in no way, shape or form to be acceptable.
You lost ALL your replies to RP's, threads these people weren't even connected to. You lost character applications, again something that had nothing to do with these people, that caused so much more work for you, and you had to give out apologies for something that wasn't your fault.
You're candy coating this slightly to make it seem better than it was. All in all it was childish and immature and hurtful and I just hope to God that these people grow up someday. Deleting somebody elses accounts, copying their site. I forget these people are in thir late teens, thye act more like eight year olds.

Exactly! Thank you mucho for saying this!!! I mean really if someone started claiming that they owned your character and started hogging everything you ever did, then I'd be worried! Then I'd really bitch and moan about it completely and not let the owners rest about it -.-'

Your scary.. Spider! lol!!! But no you are right, very much.. perhaps I am giving them too much credit, after all I didn't even have one of my bios saved... And I have to REWRITE it again, which I don't even feel like doing, but it has to be done ^^
But yes that is very uncivilized for what they have done, especially by doing something so childish like that. I mean no matter how pissed off you get with someone, you don't have the right to do that! Even if I was a member of that what is their board again? 9mm? oh right.. yeah if I was a member on there and I had gotten into a hissy fit with the owners, I wouldn't up and deleted their stuff! It's just crazy! Nor would I give a damn about what they did with the plots/threads. I'd just take my app and leave! ^^
Mousie - February 21, 2008 11:42 AM (GMT)
Chill, kids. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Here's mine.
I don't think it's right to delete your posts right out of the board. Speaking as someone who can't delete rough drafts or even word documents she just randomly wrote things into, the idea of deleting posts is... well, near offensive to me.
Hence why I don't allow anyone to delete posts without being an Admin or Moderator. True, the member can go through and edit all the writing out of their post - but it takes a lot more effort, and people like it when spiting the admins is nice and easy.
I like to go back and read over threads again, it disturbs me enough when I have to see deleted accounts in old threads (it happens, I know)... but to have those posts missing forever and ever? I don't really care whether I was in the thread or not, it does upset me.
However, if someone were to request to have their profile deleted, we would be quite happy to do that. The posts... well, you'd need a very good reason that bypasses my tendency to hoard writing...
Angel-girl - February 21, 2008 01:31 PM (GMT)
The way I see it, when you leave, you leave. Sure your characters are your own intellectual property and no one should take them without your permission, but deleting your posts is silly. Also, other people will have to godmod in the slightest so that they're not left with a huge hole in their characters' lives. I kinda feel like it's like when you leave a room. People are going to talk about you and you have no real control over what they say. So don't worry about it ;)
Further, I don't honestly care what happens to my characters when I leave an RP. It's not hurting me if someone else decides to pick them up and play them, so I just leave all my stuff behind.

I probably well... no I did fail to mention that the hissy fit members did edit their own posts and basically put "DELETED" in each one, which is very disturbing to see indeed.
You don't know how much of a relief I feel that I am not the only one that thinks these things lol Because it has been irritating me for the past couple of weeks, though I managed to smoothen out my RP and get past the over kills. ^^

I remember being on a board.. that I left, though the only thing was, I took my application, the rest I just let the admin/owners deal with it. I don't personally care if they God-moded my character, killed her or whatever, just as long as my character was fully out of the picture who cares! lol It's silly to make a big deal over something like that, and the only people that would do it, are the ones that does these things in spite of the admin.
I'm not entirely sure if it has a thing where a mod/admin can make it to where the members have to have permission to edit their thingy.. but if it did, I'm so considering in thinking of trying it...
Emma - February 22, 2008 04:24 AM (GMT)
If you're on IF you can find somewhere a setting on editing that after an amount of time you specify members cannot edit their own posts anymore.
China Doll - February 22, 2008 04:34 AM (GMT)
I don't use IF, I have the real deal XD IPB lol It doesn't have it anywhere to where an admin or mod could approve the edits, however it does have something similar to what you said, I just really don't want the members to bang their heads and scream because they can't edit their own post..
Hopefully I can find a mod or some sort that will have that kind of setting.. I unno! ^^

Oh my gosh... trippy! This just happened on a site I am. I seriously hate her now. It's not even funny. And then you know what she did? She registered one of her chars so we couldn't kill her chars - which technically no longer existed but to those who had deep connections to her char - and it's like "Are you effing kidding me?!" If no one had a right to kill other peoples' chars, I don't think there would be any HP RPGs in existence.
Anyway, that was my mini-rant. Sorry.
I totally agree that people who do that are low and immature, if not totally *****y.
Ryo - February 22, 2008 06:15 AM (GMT)
Well, I wouldn't do anything like that first of all, but I will say I enjoy the option of deleting my own posts. For example, I could post something by accident {I have done this before} and I would have to pm the Admin and everything would just be a giant hassle. So, I enjoy being able to delete my own posts. As for other members, I think they also have a right to delete what they, themselves, posted. Just my thoughts though. :p

LOL its okay to throw out mini rants of your own XD Don't apologize, I just really find it very upsetting that the people that do that just are very rude and only care about themselves. They don't respect the hard work that the owners/admins/mods have put into it so yeah... XD
I must have said this a dozen of times, that I hate it when people do that lol
Mousie - February 22, 2008 08:40 AM (GMT)
Sometimes I consider giving members the ability to delete their own posts... but then my head says no.... deleting is bad. There's usually an admin on, and we take orders via CBox. It's pretty well known that if you double post, or post under the wrong character... repost as the right character - something will get done about it. It doesn't happen all that often.
I'm still way scared of members flipping out and going on a deletion-rampage.
Deleting... *shudder*.... no deleting...
