Title: People Like This ..
Description: really p*** me off.
silent cacophony - February 8, 2008 09:46 PM (GMT)
So recently I joined a board based on a summer camp, and so far it's been really fun. The people there are really nice and are always willing to thread/plot with others, so there's always something to do. And like most boards, there's a cbox, which we use religiously.
But then this guest decides to come on and say (and I quote), "Oh, this site looked so good until I found out I can't use the faces I want."
What. the hell.
Okay, first of all, having that attitude in the first place just makes me angry because it shows just how close-minded the person is. Two, it made me mad that they would actually SAY that to us, as if we're the devil spawn of the earth for not letting her use some emo-face teenager she found on myspace. And yes, I am totally serious when I say that, because a few lines later, after someone offered to help her find a PB, she said, "Haha, i suppose that makes sense. otherwise, i use deviantart + myspace type face claims, and that could be a problem...."
I got no problem with this, really. I mean, I don't do it, but if you really want to do that, then whatever floats your boat, right? I'm not gonna be turned off from RPing with someone just because of their PB choice, so it's not like I'm prejudice or anything. But then another member says that our admin probably wouldn't accept that, and this guest person says that's biased, and then later goes on a spew about how using celebs in a teenage RP is totally unrealistic, and that using celebs as PBs should be added to the rules. Okay, not gonna argue with her much on that one, but here's the deal. 98% of teen sites out there want celebs; it's kind of a given. I told her this, and she just .. went. off.
me: Some sites just aren't for everyone
her: not really, dear. more sites are more open to creativity.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Okay, she claims that this sites needs to be more creative, when it's her that's so close-minded that she won't go outside using myspace PBs? Ugh. And then she just started going off on how uncreative the site is, how I need to change the rules (and I yell at her, I'm not a flippin' admin, as I've told her twice by now), how rude I was being, and that I needed to learn how to accept constructive criticism. Okay, once again, didn't make the site. Two, you're not being helpful. You're just being annoying.
And there's my rant. Anyone else ever have this problem? God, how freakin' tacky. I hate it when people do this. If you don't like the site, just go away. Don't sit there and bash, or whine for something to be changed; it's frickin' rude as all heck.

Gah. I can never understand why people like to tell others about the problems they have with their sites/life. If they're close friends and their friend is doing something dangerous to her/himself, that's one thing. If they are acquaintances and the person doesn't like their jersey - leave the hell alone.
The same with sites. If a site was publically and personally attacking me (such as posting 'We hate Emma Sweney' all over the place, I would definitely be offended and complain about it. But if they had rules I didn't like I'd leave. As I do.
I just don't get it. Do they get some sort of thrill from complaining about other sites just because the rules aren't absolutely right for their needs?

That's unfortunate, in both situations. Maybe the admin will calm down a bit and reconsider. As for the other person, you probably don't want them anyway.
When I really like something about a site, I will say something in the cbox, but otherwise I won't post as a guest in the cbox. I always use my recognized name, and I always specify what it is that I like about the site.

Oh yeah, I've definitely had people bash us in the Cbox... usually about being rejected. We do have some people that get huffy about our banned PB list, though.
This girl came into our Cbox and made a huge fuss about not being able to find a PB. We were all willing to help her look, because I know a lot of celebrities and a friend of mine knows a lot of models, but she was being SO difficult. "No, her hair needs to have 40353 different shades of brown," "No, her eyes need to be this shape," etc. etc. And finally my friend found a model she liked, and the girl said, "She's great but I have a thing against thin people." ... It was stupid, especially considering the two girls she wanted (both Internet people) were both very thin. It was obvious she was just being difficult so I would lift the ban. But I didn't, and she left. =)

The admin wasn't even involved. That person kept talking to me, telling me to change the rules and make the site more open-minded (pfft) even tho I told her two or three times (and finally yelled) that I didn't write the rules and that I wasn't an admin. But I passed the whole issue along to an admin at the end in case she wanted to change the rules or something, but that person was just an idiot.

Sorry, I just misread. I'm really tired tonight...
silent cacophony - February 8, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
Lol, totally understandable. I was so tired last night in my 3D design class, that I said something out loud to my professor, like I thought we were moving along in critiquing each others' projects, and apparently we weren't .. or something .. Meh that doesn't make much sense but yeah LOL. Tiredness = absent-mindedness.

It's one fewer prima donna on the site.
If I saw the conversation on a chatbox, I would probably chuckle and proceed normally. The person does have a point, whether or not you choose to acknowledge it is your choice.

Ergh. PBs seem to cause so much trouble these days, don't they? Mainly, my problems revolve around the fact that they're not realistic enough, or they just don't look right, or they're the "stock" PBs like Miley Cyrus (is that her name? I barely even remember these people) and Zac Efron.
One of my problems came when my RP "buddies" wanted to make a HP future character, the child of Blaise Zabini and Daphne Greengrass...great! I was all for that...except she wanted her to be pale and blonde. Blaise is dark-skinned! It's nigh-on impossible for a white girl and a black guy, both with dark hair, to produce a pale-as-a-ghost, blonde-as-a-Malfoy child! -.-'
Then, because we specified non-emos, preferably (seriously, what is with the whole emo!Scorpius, emo!Albus thing?) she had a tizzy about that. Seriously. Considering the way I play my Blaise and the girl playing Daphne...well, plays her...emo!children are a bit out of the question. It just wouldn't work, but because it wasn't the PB she wanted, she threw a right strop. Luckily, after the RP got started, she didn't turn up again. Can't reeeeeeeeeeeally say its much of a loss.
