Title: Anyone Know How To Cook A Hunk Of Meat?
RyanA - December 27, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
Okay, anyone know how to cook a hunk of meat. I don't eat meat much and I never cook it. I just moved and my old roommate( who just moved to California for a job) gave me this steak thing. I am starved but don't know how the hell to cook it. I have a frying pan. Can I cook it in that?

Thanks Ros,
I actually like the goofy guy teaching me how to cook. Sadly, I just looked and there is no broil pan in my oven. How can that be? I do broil fish a lot. Geez, that so sucks. I need to call the apartment managers and ask them where the hell the pan is?
So I am trying to cook it in the frying pan. I guess I will just cook the hell out of it so I don't die of some horrible meat disease....

I just Googled "cook meat frying pan," so IDK how reputable the results are. Hahaha. D:

Meat Update: It sucks.
I tried to cook it in a fying pan and it's like trying to eat my own boot.
I am going out to get take-out.
((but thanks, Sunday.))

Pfft.
If you're going to cook steak then at least make sure it's still mooing when you serve it!
Next time you're faced with eating cow and have to do it yourself, try medium steak. about 2-3 minutes per side. Season with salt/pepper. Steak is excellent if you cook it properly. Problem is, well-done is almost always seriously-chewy. Medium is pink in the middle but not raw-pink and not sickeningly bloody. It's cooked-pink. Best thing to do is google sirloin recipe (sirloin is safest, I find, if you don't know what cut of cow you've been given that doesn't look like a 'T') and find out the cooking times. Typically they will give you a break down of tenderness and cooking time.
Alternatively, dice it and chuck it in some curry sauce <3.
I'm a rare kinda gal myself. If it ain't bleedin', I ain't eatin'. -Cackles-

Heh, Good info Panda...but eeeew. You are kind of sick. I don't think I could choke it down if it was pink. But then again, I can't even chew it now. Haha. I am no meat cook, that's for sure. My teeth hurt from trying to chew some of it.
I need a nice piece of salmon. That's what I need...

Panda is right. Steak tastes awful well-done. It's basically like pounding all the flavor out and then rubberizing it before you stick it in your mouth. If it's a good piece, all you have to do is throw it in the pan, maybe add a bit of salt (and wine for me). 2-3 minutes on each side sounds about right.

That'll be me in a soon.
I know nothing nothing about meat. When I go to a resturant and they ask how I want it done; I just pick the first one they say. :D
