Title: 2 Questions!

Do not advertise websites, forums only!

My RPG has always been split in two parts. The website for all the RPG information, and the forum for role-play. Because I use a website for information, does this mean that I cannot advertise here?

If the above is false:
May I just use a text link on my main page? It would be under the header "Three Cheers to You". It's clear and will always be where it is on every page. I stopped doing buttons long ago, and accept simple text links.

If I can't, I'll just remain a member of the board and not worry about advertising. XD I'm just totally into my simple, clean layouts and anything that breaks that drives me up the wall. Sorry, a bit OCD, but I honestly can't handle it. >_<

*hides*

Well there are more forums here who have accompying websites. So you can adveritse here, as long as the link goes to your forum, instead of the website.

And I don´t understand your second question, is that about the RPG-D button? If so, no you can't just use a simple text link. We do not make exceptions for anybody. It's just a fair trade for our advertising services, and as you put our button on your board, we get more traffic, more traffic means more changes for the advertisers to get new members (as the directory is also viewable by guests). And as the button becomes regonisable by people around RPG communities, the chance is bigger they actually click the button to go to here. If it wasn't about that, them I'm sorry and try to clear up your question.

Heh, it was what I was asking. The exception thing goes both ways though, all my affiliates/topsites/etc go on the main page. The forum is not for that sort of thing and I've never coded it like the invisionfrees, so there is no space for that. And, you'd get my traffic from my website, because that's where all the information is and I point people there, instead of to my board.

Either way, question answered! thank you! ^_^

RPGD generates a whole lot more traffic than an affiliate or topsite, which is why these rules are in place. The buttons then brings in more traffic to us, which brings in more traffic to the sites listed.

I understand this, trust me. It’s just that the links on my board are visible on every page, and when we get all the lost info back up, that’s more than 20 pages where it would be linked. No one would look at the links on the forum, because that’s not what the forums are for, and never have been. That’s all I’m saying.

I’m fine with the rules, I cannot comply because that would create unnecessary work, as I have allotted space for such things already, and I too, can’t make exceptions. Again, it’s perfectly fine! I just wanted to clear it up. Thank you!

*cough* you are advertising though, by putting up a banner in your sig. That is like saying "I don't want to put your banner up on my site, but I'm going to put mine up in yours regardless!" I find that rather rude.

EDIT: I apologize to the staff if I should have kept quiet...

absolutelybarmy - December 14, 2007 01:10 PM (GMT)
Err, it says in the rules that you're allowed to link your RPG in the signatures without having to link back (unless I missed something?). If it's rude though, I'll remove it. *shrug* It's no big deal to me either way, mostly I'm here for the conversations/discussions. I'm in this particular forum to ask a question and it was answered. :p

And I actually did want to post RPG-Ds link on my site, but in a way, with how I run my RPG, I know will be more effective. But again, it's not really an issue, no one here is gonna die because it won't happen, it's merely a case of incompatibility in regards to adverting. ^_^

It´s not rude at all, and I don´t think your comment was at all in place here purpledemon. A sig linking to a forum is something totally different then advertising here. It doesn´t require anything extra. And the only way you get it out there is posting around a forum. So please don´t post such comments here in the Q&A Center, it's not neccessary at all.

Fair enough, it's your forum after all. It's just a clash of opinion. Many apologies.
