Problem

I don't know how long you guys are intending to keep that there.

Darth Makar - October 28, 2007 04:37 AM (GMT)
Ah, the porn bots have decended. I had to switch my site to admin activation because of that.

Roswenth - October 28, 2007 05:13 AM (GMT)
I've posted in the staff forum about it to make sure someone sees it, but I don't have mod powers in that forum...

Darth Makar - October 28, 2007 05:38 AM (GMT)
With all due respect to the admin, I think they should give all staff the ability to at least edit other people's posts. Once the porn bots come . . . they'll never go away. Never.

Oh my. So this is just the beginning ;_;?

ROSWENTH FOR GLOBAL MOD, WHO IS WITH ME?

ShinLi - October 28, 2007 07:59 AM (GMT)
Well that was an extreme case of a porn bot, mostly they only have links. I think this is ridiculous. But to put on admin validation, on such a huge forum? That is impossible, only to accept new members would take up an hour of my day maybe, that's just not possible. There are certain ways to filter out spambots I think, so we might take those under discussion.

Mousie - October 28, 2007 09:51 AM (GMT)
Do they have an IP that's bannable? We've been attacked before, I think my co-ie banned all the involved IP addresses, and email where applicable. We don't have too much trouble anymore. :D

ShinLi - October 28, 2007 10:00 AM (GMT)
I don't ban IP's, I ban the e-mails these bots use. Sometimes there are a whole lotta bots who use the same e-mail. I simple searh up the bot in the acp, delete the bot, do a search on the e-mail to see if there are more bots registered under that e-mail, delete those, and then add the e-mail (after the @) to my ban filters.

Just a touch on the subject, but THIS TOPIC on the Invisionfree support boards explain and..basically kills most of the pron/spambots.

ShinLi - October 30, 2007 06:10 PM (GMT)
Those have been added ages ago in our ban lists, that is why we only occasionally have bots actually posting around here. With those e-mails I think I've deleted at least about 100 bots.

But there are others then those four e-mails that has resulted in a lot of bot registrations. You don't wanna know how long our e-mail ban list actually is lol.

Hm... I've seen this A LOT, but only on forums that are dyiing...
